HARVEY NORMAN meat?

Has anyone tried the Gerry (Harvey)-Norman-owned WAGYU meat?

He owns a Meat Company called "Security Foods" and has just unleashed his Wagyu beef on the market:

It is now available at all HARRIS FARM MARKET food shops:

For him, quite a smart business plan (especially to go up with the Giant supermarket stores: woolies and coles)

because he KNOWS that his stores has been decreasing profits since online shopping increase and hence, many people won't be sourcing their groceries from online shops

    • Good point!

    • I've also found that…no, I better not give away my game secret on here :)

      Although…

The americans do actually send steak's in the mail! GO FIGURE? Apparently vacuum packed or something…but I don't trust ANY food from china.

  • Do not know about Gerry's Wagyu but I've bought from http://www.wangaragame.com.au/Pages/wagyubeef.html 3 times and the Wagyu Beef is just… how would you say… most tender meat I've ever eaten.

Absolutely delicious… however, extremely fattening hehe.. the amount of oil is the beef is what makes it tender I think… or was it the marble grading.

By the way, any restaurant claiming that their meat is Wagyu… just look at their price and portions and you should be able to tell if it is real or not. Also, there is a big taste and texture difference to normal beef.

Tried making them as Steak but it was wasted because it was just too oily to eat them as steak… but I most probably made them wrong. So I only slice them up in small slices and pan fry them… no sauces, no salt.. just eat them like that.

The marble grading is what makes Wagyu beef tender… and expensive.

The trick is not to overcook it, if you do all the fat will just drip out of the meat and you will end up with a boring, tough and expensive steak. Medium rare is the best way to enjoy wagyu beef.

  • Wagyu just means "Japanese cow". 和牛
