55P7 is also $719.20 + Delivery for eBay plus members which is a great price

  • Thanks for the edit… obviously I suck at posting.

Silver frame on a Tv is a no buy for me.

    • Why?

    • Ebay some cheap matte vinyl wrap & you'll be laughing!

    • I'm holding out for platinum too.

    • Prefer frameless?

      • Black border

    • Permanent marker should do the trick

      • no need to be a SA

        • the door was open….i couldn't help it

  • -1

Gah if only wasn't $125 delivery to Melbourne šŸ˜

The 2019 series will receive the Amazon Prime app. It won't be available on the 2018 (P series).

Also, Hisense TVs don't work with Logitech Harmony universal remotes.

    • +2

My Hisense works fine with Harmony 650.

      • -3

You might want to head over to the Logitech forums and advise the many Hisense users who are having problems how you managed to get your 650 working properly.

      • Tell me about your setup? Do you have activities configured? How many of the HDMI inputs on the TV are you using?

        • +1

I used an hdmi switcher to lock it back to a single port to get around this issue on a TV with no AVR setup. I know exactly what you are referring to.

        • +1

All components into Yamaha amp and 1hdmi then into TV. Have activities then configured for ā€œwatch a movieā€ which switches on the Amp & Bluray player and another which switches on my Apple TV & Amp.

          • @Hobbes: Yep, makes sense. You're only using the single HDMI input on the TV. That's why you're not having any problems. So you can either use an AMP or a HDMI switch device like BaryGusey suggested.

    • This is good news! Amazon not working properly on vodatv is annoying

      • What's wrong with it? Was considering buying a vodatv since the Oreo update broke DTS+ audio on my Mibox. Amazon prime is the only thing that started working better with Oreo (no more audio dropouts). Using sideloaded NVidia Shield APK.

        • Vodatv not on oreo. Everything works fine except sideloading of amazon prime no matter what version (last tried inn dec) it has audio blips or little stutters. Most ppl on whirlpool report same. Great box otherwise.

          • @Xizor: Yeah, mine had that in Android 6, and was surprised it went away on oreo. But on Oreo, my Google Play Movies has glitches in DTS+. Can't win, whichever way you go.

            • @Make it so: Feels that way sometimes. I have a Shield on the main tv everything pretty much just works a treat. Vodatv over wireless for the other room not quite but at 1/3 the price it's hard to gripe too much, still good for kodi, youtube, netflix.

    • Only thing I couldn't get working on the harmony was the back button but that's it. Other than that flawless

      • Yeah, the 'back' button doesn't really work that well out of the box (you might be able to fix it my using the 'learning' feature of the remote) but it's the HDMI switching that is the major flaw. How many activities have you set up on your Harmony? How many HDMI inputs are you using on your TV?

        • just one on hdmi and that's the xbox. So no problem there.

        • All good over here with my 350 on a 65P6, 4 buttons allocated, one activity, one hdmi with Apple TV

    • I have just ordered a 55inch P6, do you know if you will be able to update it so you can also get Amazon?
If not ill just get a fire stick most likely.

      • -3

I literally just said that the P series won't have Amazon Prime.

        • I know I was hoping you could update the firmware in the future, thought you might have been meaning it just will not come pre installed on the 2018 models.

          • @zacsg1: Fair enough. When Hisense announced Prime was coming to the 2019 models, they also said that the 2018 models would not be receiving the update.

Not surprising that they wouldn't. This is a company that does the bare minimum.

    • My Logitech universal remote also works with my Hisense.

      • Do you have multiple activities set up? (i.e. HDMI 1 = Foxtel, HDMI 2 = Blu-ray, HDMI-3 = Apple TV)

If so, does it switch correctly between activities?

        • That's not even an issue with this tv. It's a problem with any tv that doesn't have direct input selection.

          • -3

@zorrt: It's a problem with all Hisense TVs (I have a P6) and you're correct it doesn't have direct input selection which makes using a universal remote a nightmare.

Stay well away from any Hisense TV product if you want to use a universal remote. They are a company that won't provide the discrete commands to Logitech. Disgraceful.

I wish I knew - I just assumed that every other device I had used in the past 5 years worked well with my Logitech 650 that a Hisense would as well. Lesson leared.

I will now make it my duty to inform any prospective Hisense buyer of this limitation.

            • +3

@jelko: Cry me a river pal

            • @jelko: Seems to be a workaround.

              https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2679036

              Stop crying.

              • @whorishmouth: Thanks. I've used that workaround. Very messy and sometimes doesn't work because the TV can't keep up with the multiple 'input switch' signals being sent to the TV.

This problem could be very easily fixed if Hisense would provide the same info to Logitech that every other TV manufacturer does.

            • @jelko:

They are a company that won't provide the discrete commands to Logitech. Disgraceful.

So you have proof that they've refused to provide discrete commands to Logitech and they've acted disgracefully? If it's a discrete command, just train your remote yourself. If it's dynamic, have you considered that it's not possible to provide the code because it's not the same code every time?

              • @dazweeja: Yes, I have proof. There was a post on the Logitech forums where a rep from Logitech stated that they had requested this info from Hisense and it has not been provided. I have also emailed Hisense Australia advising them about this issue with Logitech remotes and did not even receive a reply.

Whatever the cause of the issue, it's not my problem to sort it out. I've used my Logitech 650 remote on multiple Sony TVs, multiple Samsung and an LG and they all work as they should.

If Hisense won't (or can't fix) is then consumers should be made aware of this flaw in their product. Consumers can then decide knowing all the facts.

                • @jelko: That does not mean that they refused to provide it. They literally couldn't.

If you want to use a third-party remote with a product that has never claimed to support it, it is most certainly your problem to sort out. Why do you think it's Hisense's job to make their products work with other company's remote controls?

It's unfortunate that you need to use workarounds to get the activities working with Harmony remotes. But your claim that Hisense has acted in any way disgracefully does not seem to be supported at all.

                  • @dazweeja: Why is it that other TV manufacturers are able to do this? I've also used the remote on Foxtel boxes (IQ2, IQ4), Blu-ray players, Fetch boxes (Mini/Mighty) and other PVRs. This is the first device I've ever had a problem with.

If Hisense don't want to support it, then that's their loss. However I will make it my duty to comment on every Hisense related deal so that other users are aware.

I'm done here. See you all in the next thread :)

                    • @jelko: And yet because of the unhelpful way you approached this, your comment is now hidden. Pointless.

Why not say, "Keep in mind that if you want to switch inputs on this TV with a Logitech Harmony remote, you'll need to use one of these workarounds: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2679036"?

                      • +1

@dazweeja: Lol @ all the bitching and moaning over a remote control.

                        #firstworldproblems

            • @jelko: You know Samsung does the same too right? My k850 soundbar only has direct input selection via the app which connects via wifi so can't be done via the harmony. Not sure about their TVs since I don't have so can't comment. It's just a design choice, they don't have to design their products to cater for Logitech.

Going by your logic Sony is disgraceful for not playing nice with the harmony remote. Boycott the PS4 and post on every post.

        • +2

I struggled with this for a long time. I have a 65N7 the following is the work around that I have in place. I only use 2 HDMI inputs (Apple TV and Foxtel IQ4) but i am sure it will work with more. What you need to do is have the inputs be the same each time. You can this by firstly going to "LiveTv", I insert a 1 second delay for each step but it could work without it.

here is the start sequence I run after powering on the required devices.

Hisense TV Input HDMI 1 (or 2 or 3 etc)
          Hisense Live TV
          Hisense DirectionRight
          Delay 1 Sec
Hisense OK (this should now show the input screen which should result in all inputs being the same every time)
Hisense TV Direction Right (add this command again as many times as needed to move across to the correct Input)
          Hisense Tv OK

          • @Ashbargin: If you had all your devices going into an amp first (so only 1 hdmi into the Hisense) then would using a harmony be pretty much straightforward?

  • +2

I have the 75n7 and it is a fantastic telly. At this price, I'd definitely buy if we didn't already have a similar TV.

    • +1

      What's the difference?

    • Same. Got the Hisense 75M7000UWD for $2300 a year or two back. Love it. If anything when I move I might need a smaller TV.

  • +1

Got a p765 from this mob. Was not impressed with their customer service. Hunter express also stuffed me around for better part of a week. The hisense p series are fantastic value for money though

    • I expected the worst from them but I ordered at 1145pm and it was at my house 5pm the next day so can't complain at all.

    • Hunter express are awful. Great deal though.

  • +1

I have owned 2 hisense, and can say their quality and service is great. Warranty is great, only claimed once because my first hisense stopped working after 2 weeks, they came to my house and swapped it over. Newer ones like my 65p8 are much better picture than the old ones.
I will be needing a new one in 12 months for a new house, but unfortunetly nowhere to store it until then. Great price though.

    • You are lucky. My has blinking problem on the sixth day and was told had to go through repair instead of DOA replacement.

      • A response worth fighting.

      • That's not good. There was no questions asked on mine, but that was 5 years ago. They might have changed their policy since then.

Also I lied, just checked and my newer one is a 65n7 not 8.

      • You do not have to accept this outcome. A blinking problem is a major problem that you would not have purchased the TV had you known it had that problem. For major problems, you are entitled to a full refund or new replacement under Australian Consumer Law, regardless of what Hisense tells you. We had our 75N7 replaced with new when it took a few minutes of pressing power on on the remote for it to come on.

See https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guaranteesā€¦ for more info and quote it to Hisense if they give you more grief.

  • +1

If only good guys had it listed on their ebay store with the 20% off I'd pull the trigger. $125 for delivery and shotty couriers put me off this deal.
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-75-inches189cm-uled-uā€¦

  • Call me crazy, i feel the picture is better in the P7 than P8…..anyone else find this?

    • Based on what you saw in the store, or do you own both? Can't trust what you see in the store mate, too many variables and most of the time they have horrible split signals running through 30 units. That said p7 has a great picture. Personally im extremely happy with the quality of mine.

      • across multiple stores, looking at the hisense demo on both, regardless, for $800 cheaper than the P8 deal, I bought the P7.

  • +2

I wish GG would price match and Iā€™ll pick this up today!

    This or samsung 7100 ?

Finally, this is it, $55 delivery for me! DONE!!

  • Cheers OP have enough tellys already but just couldn't resist. Had eBay GCs so came down to around $1450 delivered after discounts :)

  • Thanks heaps OP. Bought one. Signed up to ebay plus free trial just for this. Was looking to buy the 75 P8 from TGG but for $800 and one feature less, this is much better value.

  • +2

Bought a 75P7. My current one was bought around 7 years ago from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75930#comment-965583 . Its still going strong. Probably will move it to Bedroom.

    Thanks mate.

    • Just saw the post you linked.

Those bezels look so outdated now haha

    • Wow ! I upgraded from the same size tv to a 65 inch and I was blown away with the size difference. Just trying to imagine how you reacted when you compared the 2 at home.

  • Thanks OP, great post, bought another TV. No idea what I'm going to do with the collection of TV's that I have now.

  • +1

I am waiting for 65ā€ hisense oled at this price.

    A long wait it seems.

  • Any reason why this might not be a good pc monitor or used for gaming?

Disregard the size and all that I am just interested in any other constraints such as input lag or chroma subsampling 4:4:4 or anything else I cannot think of otherwise this might be the one for me.

Haven't seen any other 75 inch TV's like this quality in this price range.

  • Still shows as instock for me but now at 1750 after discount

  • Still available. Link just changed.

  • So do I need a plus membership to buy at these prices? How do I get a membership and how much does it cost?

  • +1

    Wait continues for me sigh…
Itā€™s been 11 years with my Panasonic Kuro Plasma

    • The wait is now over for me, just bought the 75p7 which will retire my 50inch panasonic plasma.

  • +1

65P7 is now available $1190 at Appliance Central + Delivery.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/65P7-Hisense-65Inch-Series-7-UHDā€¦

it is $10 cheaper than Good Guyz one

    • I was going to buy 75P7 until I compare the power rating to 65P7. I will just wait for now.

      • +1

whats wrong with the power rating? .. 75 compared to 65 is still significantly larger tv

  • +1

Received ours today (QLD) so two thumbs up for Appliance Central aka Betta Home Living Villawood for the super quick delivery. This beast is massive lol makes the 60" look teeny. So far very impressed. FTA looks ok nothing special but some of the 4K stuff played off USB looked unreal. Haven't had too much time to play around with it will do in the coming days.

    Again cheers OP :)

  • +1

If anyone was wondering these are the picture settings I've settled on for now. Interested in finding out what other P7 owners here are working with

    Standard
    Brightness 53
    Contrast 49
    Colour Saturation 38
    Sharpness 10
    Rest unchanged except:
    Dimming and Active Contrast Medium
    Cool Temp
    Smooth Motion
    Gamma 2.4

    • +1

Mine just arrived today. I ll play around with the settings and see what works. I ve found some settings on whirlpool that i ll try on too.

      • Yeah haven't found a whole lot about advanced picture settings (colour tuner, white balance etc) only the basic settings. Still quite impressed with the picture quality even with just the basic adjustments. Blacks, colours, brightness, motion etc all quite good. The panel is very bright so for FTA dialled the brightness down to 35 and contrast down to 40. Do let us know what settings you settle on so I can try it out :)

        • +1

This is what I ended up setting it to.
Picture mode Standard, Contrast 35 , Colour 45, Brightness 44. Colour Temp is Standard and turned off motion settings, judder and sharpness

          • @titan0r: Will give those a crack as well :)

For 4K content and Blu-rays etc brightness and contrast around the 50 mark looks great but for FTA and low quality stuff dialling down the brightness and contrast makes things a bit easier on the eyes for mine.

          • +1

@titan0r: Btw only recently realised that when you press down arrow on remote whilst on Backlight Local Dimming option you can also adjust the Backlight. Thought I let you know :)

This is what I have now

            FTA:
            Standard
            Brightness 50
            Contrast 50
            Colour Saturation 40
            Sharpness 10
Backlight Dimming Medium and Backlight 40 (press down arrow on remote whilst on dimming)
            Adaptive Contrast Medium
            Smooth Motion (5, 5)
            Cool Temp
            Gamma 2.4
            Colour Native
            Rest unchanged or off

            4K:
            Standard
            Unchanged or off except
            Backlight Medium 60
            Adaptive Contrast High

            4K HDR:
            Standard
            Unchanged or off except
            HDR Standard
            Backlight Medium 80
            Brightness 55
            Adaptive Contrast High

            One X:
            Standard
            Unchanged or off except
            Backlight Medium 50
            Game Mode On
            Adaptive Contrast Medium

            One X HDR:
            HDR Standard
            Unchanged or off except
            Backlight Medium 80
            Game Mode On
            Brightness 55
            Adaptive Contrast High

  • Mine arrived too, one guy, not sure how he got it off the truck… what about you guys?

Hopefully it's not damaged when I get home.

    • Yeah same here was surprised to see just the one guy. Helped him move it upstairs. Single storey doable with a trolley but going up a staircase no way one guy can do so safely without jolting given the size of it. Feel for these drivers poor form by the courier company.

      • Seriously dangerous, it's very heavy. Need to find another person to help me put it together lol

        • +1

Hahah yeah this thing is massive wouldn't want to rush it and risk cracking the screen. Definitely requires a couple of people to put it together. We laid it flat on a coffee table (screen side up) to install the stands that made things a bit easier.

          • +1

@dins: Ah, I might do that too. Thanks for the tip!

  • Thinking of buying one. Is the box protective? Iā€™m worried I have to move it myself from work back home.
