Spreets ignoring complaints

I had 2 restaurant vouchers with Bar Baba that I purchased off Spreets. I've tried to make a booking on several occassions, always to be told its completely booked out for 2-3 weeks. This is an outright lie as I walked past the restaurant 3 times the night they were supposedly "booked out" and they had a maximum of 3 tables seated. I tried to make another booking recently as my voucher with them are expiring soon and basically got told there's no availability before the expiry date. I also got told I can't use both vouchers on the same night, which was never stated in the T&C. Infact, I could use up to 5 vouchers on one offer, and up to 7 vouchers on the other offer. I see this as a breach of the terms and conditions on their behalf.

I email Spreets for a refund and got a response back saying they won't be able to do a refund, but can give me Spreets credit. I responded back 6 minutes later with all the details they needed and haven't heard back since. 6 minutes! They even marked my ticket as "resolved" even though its not true! I managed to reopen my ticket and created a second one as I was clearly being ignored by "Jacky". I haven't had a single response for either of my tickets.

NOT happy with the level of customer service being provided. Has anyone else had troubles trying to go through their refund process?

  • I recently had a problem with one of the vouchers (Ogalo burger) I purchased from Spreets. It took a few attempts before they finally sorted it out. I would say OurDeal and JumpOnIt provide much better after-sale service.

    • I had the same problem with the Ogalo vouchers. I contacted them several times (using the same ticket number) and they kept giving me the same advice (to resubmit my location when I'd already done it over and over again). Finally I sent 1 new email (new ticket number) after they stopped replying to my old ticket number, and they sent me the vouchers.

Our deal still hasn't replied to my query of 28 april. They sent me an email a couple of deays ago saying they would be getting around to it. Not impressed. Jump on It provided good service as did spreets when I had a problem. Deals.com.au and Living Social both list their phone numbers.

Well, after I chased them up on 6 seperate occassions, created 3 new tickets and posted here before I FINALLY got a response saying they'll process it now. I'll believe it when I see it. Mind you, I did have to say my next action was to make a formal complaint to the department of fair trading. Its a shame that they have to push customers to do this before you get a reponse. You'd think they'll learn what not to do with so many Scoopon complaints around.

  • Ouffer got back to me pretty quick about a problem I had with a voucher code not working. They were cheerful and apologetic. I was happy with that.

  • On the side note, as far as meal deal goes, I find Spreets only good if the deals are under $20.

So much for that. I've heard nothing back from Spreets since their last reply and no credit has gone to my account. Follow up queries are also being ignored….

Looks like I'll have to stick with Cudos, who willingly refund vouchers for all buyers once they know there is something wrong with the provider!

Hi Sormuijai, You have been credited the full value of your voucher under #43965 which was under another name. Please check your account to see that you can view the credits. Regards

Only 1 of the 2 vouchers were credited. I have reopened the case number and awaiting a response.

        • Good grief!

        • Any update on your credits?

        • After chasing them for a few days, they gave me credit for the other voucher. They didn't explain at the time that the credits do expire! But atleast I still have them, better than nothing. Just need to find something to buy from them now.

I know a lot of people want refunds but the "relative" ease of getting a credit from Spreets makes them seem like angels compared to another company.

    • I agree. A business closed down before I could use my vouchers and they offered me asap a refund/credit.

Gez these companies are dodgy. I wonder how many people get ripped off but get fed up attempting to resolve the issue and getting no reply, and just decide it isn't worth it. It's probably the sole way these businesses turn a profit. It seems you don't get tended to unless you escalate the issue and confront them about it on a public forum.

The companies hosting the deals are no better, picking and choosing when they accept the vouchers, saying they are full when clearly they aren't. I'm sure they sell far more vouchers than they ever intend on actually honouring - bad luck if you missed out but hey, the business thanks you for your donation!
