Microwave safe? Everything I've seen says not to put steel in the microwave..

Also, how are these for non-stickiness? Anyone got one?

  • +2

    RRP $249.95😀

I saw these yesterday and was interested until some quick research on the product showed that the line may have manufacturing defects (air gaps/poor bonding of layers). Seems like it could be true since it is 5 ply with copper and Kogan are selling it for this price.

    • +3

      Don't buy it, I wouldn't

      • Yeah, I wasn't going to. Happy to hear if people have had good experience with them but I am sceptical.

        • That's all good, I think all of us are tight on budgets so it is vital not to waste money on defect products. I think the half price Woolworths pans are for what we pay, plenty of options if we go to the cookware outlets

      Link to issues?
Some positive reviews of pans on Amazon - at much higher price.

      • +1

Just a paragraph in this review of a different product.

Not great evidence I know but it was enough for me to figure that probably why Kogan were selling them and why they were so cheap for what they are.

Like I said above, happy to hear otherwise since I'd like to give 5 ply stainless/alu/copper a try.

        • +1

That review is very hard to understand - referring to Copper Core knockoffs, with manufacturing problems. As they is no date, it may no longer be relevant to this particular product, if it ever was.
These Copper Core pans (sold as a set) get great reviews on Amazon.

          • @INFIDEL: It isn't really that difficult to understand - they are referring to the KitchenAid Copper Core as an All-Clad Copper Core knockoff (not that that designation has any bearing on my decision to not buy).

Anyway, maybe buy them and let us know. Fully clad 5-ply cookware isn't usually cheap, especially when copper is involved. Maybe Kogan got this batch at a heavy discount for some reason.

            • @bargainpersona: $19 sounds way too fishy

              • @Yaren24: Think you're confusing this with the KitchenAid Fish Core Frypan. Never a popular line😀

            • +1

              @bargainpersona: Still there's the 5 year manufacturer's warranty to cover such defects😉
Don't forget to add the 3 extra years with Kogan Extended Warranty😱

All Clad is an expensive brand name product the review says this is a knock off of.

I'm interested but very hesitant at this price.

              • @INFIDEL: You can buy it, both of us not buying it

              • @INFIDEL: OK, so for science I got the 1.5L saucepan (since I needed on and wouldn't are too much if it heated unevenly).

Just gave it a quick test and it seems good. Hard to tell since it is small but it looks like it is heating pretty evenly and heat is getting conducted well up the sides.

The thing is nice and heavy for the size and a nice form with no obvious defects. Hopefully the handle stays on. Would recommend so far but I cannot compare to any other x-ply cookware since I have no experience.

                • @bargainpersona: Sounds good!
5 year manufacturers Warranty should cover any defects.

On Yarren24's advice 😀 - bought the 20cm pan (the goldilocks zone of my pans - the 16cm cast iron is a bit small, & the 26cm non-stick is a bit big for many tasks). Arrives next week.

        • …probably … why they were so cheap…

          That's a big leap you've taken.

There are a raft of reasons why these may be priced as well as they are, and many of those reasons may have more to do with market forces totally unrelated to the quality of the product.

Im buying the 26cm. I can't resist. RRP $122 million, now $29 dollars.

  • The way I hear it is, when heated they can only explode and kill you once, so don't take out Kogans extended warranty plan they offer.

    • +2

I'd hate if they killed me multiple times

      • Yeah, but if I had that skill I would probably be more annoyed at it ruining my food.

      • I'd be quite happy if i was capable of being killed multiple times.

  • Nice! Just in time for the missus birthday

  • I have one. Its stuck in the ceiling till the builders can remove it.

    • That's not worth it.

  • +1

    Price history thanks to PriceHipster.

    • Shows Kogan have sold this @$100 + delivery.
      This is lowest price.

  • +2

I have been very happy with Ikea Sensuell which are a similar concept and have the benefit of a 25 year guarantee.

    • Ikea is great, I like the fact that it cost $29 which is a realistic price for a decent small fry pan.

  • +2

Allclad patents expired hence more tri ply land on market ….5 ply is next gen up from tri ply ….2.5mm seems thin for multiply but welded handle makes for easy cleaning ….

  • +1

We have these pans and they are excellent quality and comparable to the top of the range Scanpan Fusion line of pans. This pan will last you a lifetime. These are steel exterior/interior and are not for people who want plastic lined non-stick pans. Please search youtube on how to use a steel pan.

I got the SCAM-PAN Furious set… you must be joking right ? I'm deep-frying the eggs on those SCAM-pan otherwise I will get half the egg if I use less oil.

  • Got one each

  • +1

Had $10 Kogan credit from a previous deal gone wrong.
Wouldn't have spent the $19 otherwise (got the 25cm one).

  • Really love this 20cm pan. Checked heat distribution with IR thermometer - seems good.
Look, weight & feel are great👍
