Budget Recommendation for Couples Ski Weekend in NSW

Hi
Me and my partner are wanting to try a few days skiing, could be in shoulder season. We have been to Thredbo in summer and loved staying in the little town, but open to other options too. Just wanted some advice as to the most cost effective approach.. is it through Thredbos website or are we better off trying to find a deal package elsewhere? We'd need accommodation (nothing fancy, just private room), rental, passes and a lesson.
Would love some advice - much appreciated!

'budget' & 'ski weekend' aren't generally terms that work together ;)

    • Haha, yep definitely agree there.. guess I should rephrase to "most cost effective"…

A few tips for a cheaper trip.
    1. Midweek (Mon-Fri) is almost always going to be cheaper than weekends.
    2. Avoid school holidays.
    3. If you don't mind having a bit of a drive each morning & afternoon, staying in Jindabyne is cheaper than on-snow (and Cooma is even cheaper than Jindabyne, but you are looking at about a 90min drive from Cooma to the snow.)
    4. Alternatively, if you are only beginners, then checkout staying in Admaninaby and skiing at Mount Selwyn. Selwyn is usually a bit cheaper than the main Perisher / Smiggins / Thredbo resort area.

    • Great advice especially vis-a-vie Selwyn. Anyone above beginner would be bored. There are half price lift tix deals on Groupon etc sometimes too.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Have you considered camping? Island Bend campsite is usually below the snowline.
