Flying out on Emirates Tonight? Exit Row?

Hello friends, I’m flying Perth to Dubai tonight. Emirates website says exit rows will be assigned at airport. Is thiis true in anyone’s experience and how early would be a good time to try to snag one. Normally I don’t care but it’s an 11 hour flight and I am hoping to sleep. I have a window assignment so it’s not necessarily make or break.

Thanks
💐

  • Exit window can be a bad seat on certain planes due to inflatable ramps. Make sure you try for exit aisle.

Window seats can be crap on an a380 because the side to lean your head is too far away from the seat. Had this happen to me last time :(

Emirates website says exit rows will be assigned at airport. Is thiis true

    Why would they lie?

Its a first in, best dressed. so be in the queue when checkin opens

      Hi JimmyF,

I didn’t suggest that they were lying, there are a variety of reasons why something might be handled differently at a specific airport. Also, the website could be out of date. There are a number of scenarios where is might not be “true” but they may not be lying.

Yes I’m aware it is first in best dressed, but as there are some very frequent fliers here, I thought they might know that the seats are generally allocated before the check in opens. There is always a chance someone might have a special insight that could save me the bother. If this is the case, it would be better to not even even try. We are talking about possibly an extra couple of hours here, on top of an 11 hour red eye and there is nothing to do at Perth airport.

      Thanks for your input. 😀

  • This is probably the layout of your plane:

Maybe consider row 68 and 81 as well.
    Safe travels!

    • 68 and 81 for the win! You can actually get up out of the seat from there and use the space in the row in front =)

How tall are you? I almost always snag exit rows by asking nicely and due to being tall. Numerous check in agents have told me before they basically eyeball you at checkin to make sure you're fit and able to assist in an emergency and often give preference to long legged people just to be nice.

    • As someone short, I 100% support tall people getting these seats.

        I support your support.

  • Ok, thanks everyone. When I checked in yesterday there were only a few seats available in all of economy. I’ll see how I go, I’m fairly happy (I think) with 72k. If I can manage to pack in time, maybe I’ll leave early. There’s nothing to do at Perth airport as I don’t have access to a lounge.
