OceanRise Herring Fillets 200g Can $0.99 (Was $1.79) @ ALDI

670

ALDI herring fillets fish can has dropped from $1.79 to 99 cents. I have never seen their price dropped in 10 years, so I bought 10 cans. They actually taste very well.
Available in Tomato, Dijon Mustard, Mango Pepper or Curry and Pineapple sauces.

  • In ALDI, it is a red tag of supersaver. Don't know how long it will last.

    • For a hairy fish stewing in a can for months on end I would expect it to taste pretty bad.

That sodium content could kill a cat.

This is catfood. Don't get it.

    Go for steaks.

Do they have pineapple express flavour?

  • I love tuna.. will I like these?
    Never tried herring.
If it has that heavy fish/ocean smell then probably not.

    • +2

You prolly wont like em then, they are much fishier, very smelly, very tastey.
But then they are in sauce and only a dollar, so why not give em a go, I love em.

      • "much Fishier. very smelly" . Pass

    • While you won't like the smell/taste of the dressing, you probably won't even taste the fish in the flesh itself if you get the mango one.

You might feel it when you burp though.

"Anything that thinks logically can be fooled by something else which thinks at least as logically as it does. The easiest way to fool a completely logical robot is to feed it the same stimulus sequence over and over again so it gets locked in a loop. This was best demonstrated by the famous Herring Sandwich experiments conducted millennia ago at MISPWOSO (The MaxiMegalon Institute of Slowly and Painfully Working Out the Surprisingly Obvious). A robot was programmed to believe that it liked herring sandwiches. This was actually the most difficult part of the whole experiment. Once the robot had been programmed to believe that it liked herring "

I think OP might be Dutch, based on the English and enjoyment of herrings (and bargains).

  • What is this fish with some odour? I’m next to Aldi might check it out

  • Thanks. Mine expires 17 Jan 2022.

The amount of salt in these suckers, you could easily add 15 years!

      • +1

It'll have the exact reverse effect on your life expectancy

  • Bought 4 today. Bargain.

  • I’d buy that for a dollar.

These are a bit fishy, a bit smelly, but they taste awesome and for $1 I bought 15 cans. I might grab some more tomorrow. I recommend the mango, pineapple, and mustard. The tomato flavour is my least favourite as the saltiness brings out the fish flavour.

  • I prefer kippers, but at $1, will check these little guys out.

  • i couldnt resist, and also bought 15 - easy quick work lunch when mixed with rice/pasta. I'm sure they'll be ok.. but hoping for 99c they will be a hidden awesome find :)

  • Is this still the price?

    • +1

No. It has gone back to its usual price 1.79. This was 2 days ago.
