    • I would love to know how much the tv weigh.

      • The box says N.W 10.2kg, GW 12.5kg

        • cab you post up some detail of the product ? like the specification. :)

  • for those that have bought one, can you please do me a favour and tell me if it has a headphone input jack?

    • I spoke to JB today and they advised it has headphone jack 2AV, 2component, 2hdmi and usb, but I forgot to ask them about the length and height measurement.. HTH

  • What sort of formats can these play via USB playback?

    • +2

According to the manual they play rmvb, mkv, mov, avi, trp, tp, music in mp3 and wma, photos as jpg and png

      • spec plsssss :) like the ref rate, delay time, bright, etc". appreciate it man !!

        • 500cd/m but seems plenty bright… no other stats really

          contrast 1450 (typ)
          60,000 expected life.

  • image qualty is so so compared to my old Sony XBR but hey it's 299$, for the bedroom only

  • +1

    796 x 233 x 578 mm
    weight net:10.2 kg, gross:12.5kg

  • I was in a major hurry and the sales people didn't seem to know what they were talking about.

    • +1

buy a $1 cheap analog boxy tv from ebay then.

  • +3

Tried to post this at 5. All qld stores are not in till next week. Rang 6 stores only 1 which I went into knew what I was talking about. Some are there staff are so thick. Ahhhhh nah can't do that but can do for the 24inch

    • Me too, which was pretty confusing. :)

  • Oh and they are only getting 80 a store supposively. Each said that on the phone once spoken to general managers

  • I just picked one up, it looks OK for a full HD TV, the colors are much brighter than some of the other low cost models on sale.

Anyone comparing this to a better quality TV is just being silly, I bought this as a replacement for the high def 32" plasma for the bedroom and the Soniq looks much better.

  • +5

I find the picture quality of the Soniq TVs to rival the samsungs, but the sound is pretty terrible, really need to be hooked up to seperate speakers.

    • -6

      are you kidding me?
      Soniq uses Samsung panels

      • +8

yes.. I know.. which is why I said it rivals Samsung.

I said the sound is terrible, not picture.

  • has anyone checked any of the sydney stores?
i went to the world square one today after work and they said they were all sold out? only had about 7-8 apparently?

    • had a few in the castle hill store :P but idk if u meant greater sydney or just the cbd

  • +1

Watching a movie on this TV right now, it's a steal for $300 colour looks great and it has a fair few inputs (2x HDMI 1x VGA 2x component 2x composite) etc.. Only annoying part is the only audio output is a coaxial which my amp doesn't have :( (amp only has optical)

  • +2

just bought one for the bedroom. really good value for $299. The USB playback works well just bear in mind the usb is located at the back of the tv and not on the side.

    • +1

nothing a USB extension cable won't fix!

  • what's the energy rating on these?

    • Most importantly, what is the wattage? =)

    • 3 stars, <128W(max), <1W(standby)

    • +1

seems to sit at the middle of the pack in terms of energy usage according to the energy ratings website. Look for model no L32V11A-AU on page 3 of the results. It's ranked 135 out of 221 LCD tvs in the 70-90cm size range. Estimated cost of running at 10 hours per day for 10 years is $649 assuming 18c/kWh. Not sure who watches 10 hours per day but those where the default variables on the site (which you can obviously change but I didn't bother).

  • Whoa, great deal. Will check out QLD stores soon.

  • anyone in Victoria/Melbourne got this? at which store?

    • Chadstone store last night. Still had a few on the floor (about 5), possibly some in the back too

  • I got mine at the Maribyrnong store. On the poster they had it said Limited stock. I'd assume that these would sell pretty quick. Someone aforementioned that this store had 60 units.

    • Got it from Maribyrnong, when I rang the guy mentioned 60 units, but the OP mentioned he got it from Chadstone (Warrigal Rd) store, best to give your local JB a ring just to be sure.

  • I'm thinking of buying this 32" to replace a 24" 1080p BENQ Monitor currently hooked up to my PC, a TV Tuner as well as a PS3.

Do you guys think the 32" 1080p picture quality would be alright to handle this, and how far away do you think I will need to sit from the computer?

    • I also have a 24" 1080p BenQ monitor but im not sure if I should replace it with this, it might be too big to sit on the desk and use as computer monitor.

    • 32" will hurt your eyes if you use it as computer monitor, instead of replacing 24" why dont you extend the monitors instead like i did, so u have both screens up?
the picture quality is alright to handle ps3, movies or tv, but not as good when you connect to a PC due to limited resolutions the TV can handle, im connecting with VGA cable atm and its a bit terrible (shadows and distortion), im hopping in future when i got a hdmi graphic card, it will look better.
Finally, you need at least 2m distance from TV i reckon

      • Yeah. I called up my closest 2 JB's (Leichhardt & Top Ryde, NSW) and neither had the Soniq on sale anyway.

Main reason is my limited desk space. Might wait for a better quality 32" deal to come up then. I've read its a pretty beast setup, and yeh the recommended distance is 1.2-1.5m.

        http://carltonbale.com/1080p-does-matter

        • Top Ryde definetly has a few-at least 4 on display.

      • I have a 24" DEll 1920x1200 LCD that I love dearly. However I wanted more real-estate without going dual monitor. So I bought it.

First impression was that text is terribad using DVI->HDMI. Swapped to VGA and it looks heaps better.
Haven't had much of a play but I'm quite happy so far - even plays MKV's from usb!

I don't do much text stuff on my PC and haven't used it for very long so will post a better summary once I get back home. Wish I could knock off sooner… :(

  • alright guys stupid question, but will this TV fit in a mazda 3? im asking this because the doors don't open completely on the sedan unlike other models.

and not sure if it'll fit entirely into the boot

    • +3

      pimp my ride?

    • I got it in my Corolla :)

    • do the rear seats fold down, so that you can push it through your boot?

    • fits in my super tiny Mazda 121 :)

    • Hmmm? Where are you thinking of mounting it?

(You'll probably need a very long extension cord.)

    • I read that as "will it fit in my boat"

      Pimp my ride indeed !!

  • yes, it will fit 100% in a car.. i Fit my 40 inch in so 32 no worries

    • +1 for 'Zelanian' bru! :)

    • Excellent! The 178 degree viewing angle usually means it's a high quality panel i.e. not a TN screen.

  • +1

I just picked one up from JB Melrose Park (SA). They had plenty left. Just set it up, slight (barely noticable) buzz sound when on blank screen but can't hear it when movie is going. Sound is average but I'm gonna hook it up to my stereo. Very happy with it for my bedroom tv.

  • Anyone got any questions about the TV, feel free to ask and I will endeavour to answer.

Just tested out the USB playback capabilities, it is pretty impressive.

  • Cannington WA just received shipment of 90 units this morning. There's now 89 left! ;)

  • Called Myaree WA, 70 on order and probably in transit at that price.

Floor staff didn't know about deal, quite impressed about it.

  • UPDATE! FOR WA CUSTOMER. THEY HAVE STOCK NOW IN JB HF Cannington (not sure bout the others).

just called them and they said they have plenty of them. the customer representative have to double check it into their system and they said they have it ready.

btw "TOM" is the name of the sales representative i was talking to. :)

    good luck guys.

  • UPDATE NSW: 8 spotted at Parra store. 2 sold before my eyes. 6 left on the floor (maybe more out back).

    • BTW, they were playing the Toy Story 3 Blu ray, which as expected for BR on Full HD lcd, looked very good! Not sure how this bad boy is with SD TV broadcasts. Perhaps someone with the unit can comment?

The reason I ask is I remember when I bought the ex-gf's 32" Pana 720p lcd we compared it side by side with the 1080p version and the 720p unit 'looked' much better for regular SD broadcasts.

      • +1

In response to my question re SD footage, alfy on whirlpool says SD videos over USB looks ok: http://whrl.pl/RcLzWO

anyone here try SD tv? thats what I wanna know.

EDIT: just saw alfy is here too, hello alfy!

  • +1

I just purchased 3 of them for an EYE Finity setup on my PC.

Checked pixel clarity with my eye 6" from the screen looking at the popup menu to simulate computer clarity.

    It was spot on.

    • +1

drools I had a go on a rally game (i think it was dirt 2) on an 32" x 3 eyefinity setup while in KL - the pc shop guys had removed the lcds from their original housings and built a custom one to make it look like continuous screen - AWESOME!

      • +2

Tell me about it I can't wait to get home I bought TOM CLANCY's H-A-W-K-X-2
to go with it for $69. When I got to the checkout she said its on special for $30.

I was like. I love JB HIFI.

I will make a youtube using 3 of these TVS as Eye Finity monitors flying a Jet landing on an aircraft carrier over the next day.

        • aww man make me more jealous why dont ya! na, good stuff, post the link when you do :)

        • You're bloody insane(in a good way)!

    • does this mean it'll be ok as a PC monitor? what if viewing distance is <1m?

      • +1

No problems from what I saw in shop.

I will set mine up tonight.

I am operating 2 27" LGs at work and sit < a meter from them. Sweet.

Thats why I went there first and checked out what it would be like before purchase.

I had my eyes about 6" from the screen checking clarity and it was clean and sharp.

I sit about 2/3 metre away and it would be fine.

        • what type of audio outputs does it have?

        • +1

          Coaxial only unfortunately

  • How thin is this tv? is it thin like the 42" LED they make?

    • Around 80-90mm deep off the top of my head after talking to the guy that came with me.
They are in my car ATM. They weren't wide in my opinion and were thinner than I thought they would be.

      • +3

Depending where you live..they WERE in your car

  • If your local store doesn't have stock yet - you can go there and pre-pay for it like I did. It guarantees you a unit, and they give you a phone call when it comes in.

Staff told me that this TV was going to be in the upcoming catalogue so there could be quite a bit of demand when stores get stock in.

  • +1

Staff said 3 months swap warranty if something goes wrong then the rest of the year was repair warranty.
You can purchase more warranty of course and the price of the unit comes down.

  • Qld stores have them???

    • Apparently not till sometime next week.

  • I spoke to salesman who told me they buy these for around $290. Loss leader? I got the upsell as well from everything to cables, wall mouts and extended warranty.

    • +4

No upsell for me, pretty much walked in, paid for it, picked up the TV from the floor and walked out the door (showing the reciept to the guy at the front). No salesman required.

      • Same. For some reason the register chick almost had a heart attack when I said I hadn't spoken with a salesman. She took a few seconds to work out what to do. Sounds like they are only at this price as they expect to be able to upsell you other stuff. She looked like she was about to call over a salesman before finally putting the thing through

    • -1

They buy for $290 and sell at $299. Do you know what loss leader means? Because 299 - 200 = $9, which is a positive number,

      • I'm sure you can easily find >$9 of additional costs that JB would incur for each unit sold to definitely make it a LL - electricity, wages, rent, and any other variable cost. You're wrong.

        • Except that 'cost' already takes into considering everything you mentioned. So, no he's not.

  • -4

Cheap however you get what you pay.won't spend my hard earned money on lg or samsung let alone soniq. Waiting for sharp or sony deals.

    • +3

ouch you hurt me man lol

    • LOL…. sharp or sony….

  • anyone been able to get it for <$299?

    • they dont move on Soniq prices considering it is priced very fairly. Very small profit margin on them only a few dollars.

    • anyone been able to get it for <$299?

Are you serious? They'd hardly be making anything on these and they will have no trouble selling all their stock within a few days. I would feel like an idiot asking for a better price. Although they may do some kind of deal you buy extended warranty.

      • +2

well i asked anyway, and the answer was a polite no as it is on near cost, but if I want to buy anything else with it then that item will be discounted aka upsell. to be honest this is an awesome price, $299 for 32 inches of FULL HD with PVR (via usb). I dont expect you would lose much even if you sell it in a year should a better deal come along.

  • Does the PVR function allow EPG or timer recording?

  • +2

I just picked one up on impulse this afternoon. They were priced at $296 at JB Hi Fi Penrith, and the salesperson said that cost price was $290 - he tried to upsell the extended warranty, which I expected but I'm taking my chances with the TV alone. For that price, I don't really mind if it breaks in a couple of years!

    Absolutely perfect for the bedroom!

  • I wonder if I can hang this on gyprock wall at end of my bed

    • +1

They are super light but if you hang it on gyprock you'll find it sitting on the floor sooner or later. You'll definitely need to find the studs.
