Astro A50 Wireless Gaming Headset + Base Station (for Xbox and PS4) $340 @ Harvey Norman

60

Bought one of these for around 450+ few months back. Extremely good for a wireless headset, plenty of options for customisation and super comfy as well.

They are open back so beware of some noise bleed at high volumes.

The deal is advertised as a one day flash sale but most likely will stick around till the weekend finishes.

Deal available both PS4 and Xbox versions.

At this price range I would seriously recommend looking at the SteelSeries 'Arctis Pro Wireless' headset (which can be found for a similar price during an eBay sale etc.). The main differences being is that, compared to this headset, it's truely wireless (i.e. it comes with a base station/DAC which houses & charges a secondary batter), in my opinion has better aesthetics (doesn't look like a transformer's love child), but also can be used with a PC simultaneously if that's your thing.

      The main differences

It won't work with PS4 and that is why most people buy an Astro to start with.

      • It most certainly does work with ps4. Did you mean Xbox?

      • Works fine on PS4 for my brother and I.

      • Not sure what you're talking about as it's designed for use on the PS4 and work fines with my console.

    • Definitely an alternative to look into. Sadly I've never used it, used an Arctis 5 before that ran into some problems with volume fluctuations which sorta painted a bad picture with Steelseries for me.

Siberia 800 and Audeze Mobius might also be comparable alternatives for people interested.

Thought I should clarify my comment as it was originally typed on my phone.

By simultaneous PC use, I mean in addition to (cabled in to both a console and computer, then switches using the base station).

I can't believe they get away with selling these for such high prices, are people aware that the cost of these gaming headphones sit within the range of professional audio equipment?

This. Dont fall for the marketing gimmicks. Get reputable audio gear.

Being a subscriber to the r/headphones, I'm definitely aware that certain audiophile levels are reachable at this price point. I reckon it's simply a matter of not wanting to a delving into that rabbit hole or invest time into learning about it with most people (that's definitely the case with me)

I reckon the main product here is the convenience.

Unfortunately most don't realise that there aren't many options for wireless console headsets.

I agree the RRP of $450 is crazy, but this is a good price for new. I personally bought mine used (after thorough cleaning) for about $150 off of ebay which is around the standard used price.

As for the headset, couldn't recommend them more. The only annoying issue is there is a very slight static if you have them up around 90%+ volume. Other than that, sound quality is great as well as the build quality.

      Is it your eardrums rupturing?

  • Great headset. I bought the first Gen for pc about 6 years ago and still use it for gaming. Never had a problem with it.

  • I bought these for Xbox on release. Can't recommend them enough! Updated the firmware early on (astro sent me the file via email) and haven't had an issue. I also purchased a separate base station for my PS4. To use on either console takes 2 seconds, simply place them in the corresponding cradle for 5 seconds and it will sync with that console.

  • Or buy the G933/G935 for half the price and it works with Switch/Xbox/PS4 and PC out of the box, some of them two at a time
