Loved the mega drive. fantastic machine, lots of nostalgia. Is it made on license? what's the handheld like?

    • Nah, not fully by Sega, it was made by some other company and it has their name on it.
but it does look pretty well done from the pics I've seen.

      • can it accept other mega drive games though, like genuine ones from way back?

Thats the handheld there. it looks pretty sweet. i want one for $29. also, the k-mart version has 30 games opposed to 20.
i'd like to see a review for that re-make mega drive..Does it play cartridges or just the built ins?

    • Yeah does run the original cartridges.

I think I'll buy one just because I agree with the idea of this MegaDrive homage.

      • the mega drive one isn't that great , the emulation is a bit off especially with the sound, and most of the games on the handheld one are lame.

    • The Kmart handheld is the Master System/Game Gear version.

  • I never knew they were still making the mega drive ?

So are they still selling cartridge games as well ?

  • Does anyone know what games come with the mega drive? are they separate cartridges or a 15-1 dealio?

  • Does the console include two controllers, Or just one? How is the quality of the controllers too?

Anybody know what output it uses too?

There is a review of the Blaze MegaDrive.

@Kaboda, Its not officially made by Sega, however it is licensed by them. The company that makes it is "Blaze". So no, no official MegaDrive games are still being made.

@Imsopov(lol), The games are as follow, and built in: Sonic & Knuckles, Golden Axe, Alex Kidd, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Columns, CrackDown, Decap Attack, Eswat, Flicky, Gain Ground, Bonanza Bros, Shadow Dancer and Fatal Labyrinth. Only a few decent built in games, but will your cartiridges too!

@M0tyrider, it comes with 2 6 button controllers, from the review they seem fine, the output uses an AV yellow cable and one white for mono audio. Which i still find alluring, beats the old RF cables.

…and the system is also region free!

EDIT: However it seems the sound on the system is pretty shit, for both the built in games and cartridges, depending how fussy you are. apparently the newer streets of rage version of the Blaze MegaDrive has fixed this problem.
