    How much energy in washing them?

    We need to reduce our consumption of so many things, but ignoring other costs is still not good. Go in with your eyes open when considering environmental claims.

        Kmart would have to sell approved products that are regulated by an Australian agency not an American one which means absolutely nothing here.

        I dunno about the OP but I have a 3 year old, there’s no way a metal straw is kid safe regardless of who’s selling it.

        What does FDA approval even mean? Can I search a database on the FDA website to see that they've actually approved a product as mundane as a straw?

        Because I bought an "FDA approved" smart scale and, intrigued by what that meant, I went to look it up and as far as I can tell, the FDA doesn't care about non-medical products and the only information I could find about FDA approval for scales is from that product's description.
