Uber jacket is lightweight and not very warm.
    Looks cool though. Love mine.

Thanku. I was going to seek refund on my down 600 otherwise.

    • Not as warm as the thicker fill ones, but I find them useful in packed trains in winter..

    • That's debatable…

    • claims to be 650 fill with 90/10 down - should be warm shudnt it?

      • it's quite wind resistant, so there is a warmth from your sweat .. like wearing a plastic raincoat .. but it not very warm .. when i first got mine last year, i wore the uber to this cinema and i was freezing the whole movie.

    • Mine is warm. I tend to sweat a shitload in summer so maybe I just run hot. The main thing is this jacket stops the wind.

  • Saw this in store. Was very impressed how small it compacted to.

Any comments on how it performs in cold winds? I have the Halo and it's great, but looking for something less bulky. The Mercury looked good, but a had bulkier than I would have liked.

Non-hooded version also available for $5 less: https://www.macpac.com.au/mens/jackets-vests/down-insulated-…

I have got the uber and the halo. Halo is great for someone like me who feels quite cold even during the Sydney winter..The uber is not very protective for me during winter but more appropriate during autum.. Hope this helps..

    • water repellent or resistant?

      • +1

I have the Uber and it is neither of those.

    • +1

I find the uber fine for Sydney winters - anything more and I find its too hot.

Does a good job of keeping the wind away. Hood is handy too.

    • Similar warmth to a thin Tommy Hilfiger cotton jumper.

Looks like you could trek to Mt Everest … but anything less than about 17 degrees and I would freeze.

  • Is it same price at their factory outlets?

  • Excellent jacket. Worth the $100.

  • Its actually $99.99. Women's jacket is also same price.

Get the Halo jacket instead imo.

For the added price of hte halo, I'd go for the columbia stuff. The reflective Omni-heat actually works really well.

      • +2

The halo can be had for $99 when they have sales

I have the Halo jacket. It's a bit too warm for me. I always have to take it off once indoor.

      • +33

        it's an outdoor jacket.

    • This!

I bought the Uber in the last deal but ended up going to compare it with the Halo and walked out the store with it instead.

In terms of looks/style I preferred the Halo as the Uber has too many horizontal stitching and the finish on the material was very shiny/glossy. It was also pretty thin and felt cheap.

Ended up paying another $50 to go to the hooded Halo (pretty peed I missed the hooded Halo for ~$100 in a deal a while back, time machine would have been handy)…

All that said, all subjective as it's all based on personal preference.

  • I bought the 'The north face' Patagonia over the weekend from DJs at 30%off ($210.00), not too impressed… It is a 550 and the one without the hood.
I liked the fit, but I think the macpac Halo may be better. Specially for $138 or $150 (hooded). Too bad the hood is not removable on the Halo.

  • It says water repellent treatment but I don’t see any rating for water resistance. Not good/effective for heavy rain I assume?

    • yes… its not a rain coat.

    • Once down becomes wet it will compress a lot and not provide much warmth. Jackets with synthetic filling tend to perform better when wet (however wearing any wet garment outside isn't going to be pleasant after a period of time).

The water repellent treatment is more to stop the water soaking through for quick dashes (say from office to bus etc) - not an endured time in the rain.

For hiking etc recommend adding waterproof layer to keep in your pack in case you encounter rain/storms e.g. https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/en/mens-helium-ii-jacket/…

      • it doesnt provide much warmth when not wet either … love my uber but it is NOT warm at all .. good with wind .. a nice weight for an exercise walk in 15 degrees.

    • It says water repellent treatment but I don’t see any rating for water resistance

      They are two different things.

  • No items for $1 for free shipping, but you can pick up things for a few bucks

  • Seek for your opinion in comparing to Uniqlo?

  • Get the halo instead. Have had the halo for 3 years and I’m never cold in the harsh Sydney winter (i love summer). I’m constantly the only guy at house parties who isn’t cold with my Halo

    • +1

some people want the cooler and more fashionable uber design.

    • +2

      Yeah harsh sydney winter lol

  • Perfect for UberEats riding…

Is this a good price? $139.99?

    • Nope. Can have it on good sale for $99.

      • I doubt it'll ever be that cheap again. The one I got from last deal was $120.

  • Macpac jackets are warmer or Kathmandu? Looking for a very warm jacket in similar styles

    • +1

      Depends on the fill rating.

  • Do they have an Ola jacket?

  • Anyone know for the women down vests to size down too? Looking to buy one for someone. For reference they fit into size 12 for Kathmandu down jackets. Thanks

  • How do these do in Melbourne's weather? Is it sufficient in below 5 temp? Or should i wait for the halo to go down to 99 again?
