  • is there going to be a heavy version?

  • Oh wow, here we go again

  • +17

Mobileciti has done it again… keep it up guys… Good work

      • +27

if you’re not interested in this deal/phone, why even bother to click the link to open it.

          • +10

@[Deactivated]: Based on the number of negs you are receiving it is clear your views are not in agreement by the majority with a landslide

            • @cute as duck: Majority of the affiliated accounts? Yes.

Has anyone debunked the claim? No.

              Thanks for your 2 cents

      • +30

Looks like you have got some issues… you have commented on almost all the recent Huawei deals & most of your comments were heavily negged by the Ozbargain community

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/103394/comments

Again, if you have any issues with Huawei and don’t like these recent deals, why even bother to click the link to open & comment.

          • +10

@[Deactivated]: Cheer up pal, no one likes a grumpy boy.

          • +5

@[Deactivated]: Ozbargain IS a community, a forum community. Yes we may not now each other personally, nevertheless we all take part in this forum.

It seems that you have anger issue, but please don’t vent it here the forum.

            • @[Deactivated]: Haha, now you crossed the border, dude, you got it totally wrong. I have never been mad over a fake deal but I am sure some people might be mad after reading the truth! Those people might have anger issue. Honestly we read these comments and we laugh. Even people here have fun and message me privately. So on this part, it's helping the buyers and enjoying this amazing community. Also, I haven't said it's not a community!

I think ozbargain should be for the buyers, even though some sellers might be more more supportive and help the website too

The thing is that a lot of the posts are sockpoppeting. Sometimes one of the staff posts "a deal", then the rest of them upvote. Too many of these representatives are rightfully banned. Now, sometimes they don't upvote but comment something supportive to mislead the potential customers.

Then the potential customers don't know who is behind these accounts. They eventually will see how they have been ripped off, and that means Ozbargain will lose its position and popularity. Some people in my circle say most of the Ozbargain's deals are fake. Which is honestly sad.

Hence we have the comment section. But should everyone talk positively? No. They are supposed to downvote the thing.

At the end if you don't like a comment don't have anger issue! Ignore it. There are some comments I don't like, I laugh. I don't make it personal like you. Very unprofessional. Keep your diagnoses to your yourself. Thank you. And I am telling it smiling.

Votes explain everything, don’t waste too much time on the non important

          • +1

@fan8956: precisely, trust the wisdom of the mass, crowd is never wrong, lol

          • +2

@fan8956: When you are criticising a claim to be a genuine deal, under a HUAWEI post, on EBAY, from MOBILECITI, you should be prepared to get a hundred fake downvotes from affiliated accounts. Should it stop you from telling the truth and helping fellow ozbargainers? Definitely not. Just enjoy the show and be ready for a hundred thousand negs from the Chinese ministry of state too! Plus dictator lovers.

        • +6

It is not harmful to read a contrarian view. I think most people are smart enough to read both the positive and negative comments and make their own judgement. Therefore censorship is not required in this case.

Shouldn't the same principle applies both ways? Readers can overlook the comments and buy if they believe they are getting a good deal.

I wish there was a dashboard to track votes by users.

          • +1

@utsc: Very wise comment. Obviously many sellers and affiliated accounts would downvote your comment if it's not in their interest or upvote if they like it. The vote means absolutely nothing. Unless the claim is debunked.

No one has debunked a claim I made but went through sky hiking and counting the stars! And personal attacks.

            I repeat it here again:

This phone's specification are lower than the old Mate 8 and Mate 9 series.

Neg it all you want. That doesn't change the fact.

  • +3

How does this compare to Samsung S7 edge? Is this considered an upgrade to that phone?

    • +1

S7 edge was Samsung’s flagship back in the day, s10/s10 plus would be more appropriate as an upgrade, or the equivalent Huawei’s would be P30 or P30 pro.

    • +2

definitely not… this would be a regression in both speed and features. I'd go for a ~$700++ s10e (under EPP) for a real upgrade.

    • Camera should be better.. but nothing much else.

  • +10

that's damn good price for a good phone! If sell the freebuds for $100 then $324.15!!

    • +3

      Bought 2!

      • +5

If you wondering about the specs and want to compare it with P30 and S8, here is a link:
        https://www.gadgetsnow.com/compare-mobile-phones/Huawei-P30-…
(the band in the list might not apply to Aust. model)
very interesting is this p30 lite use Li-Polymer battery, more expensive but less efficient, the big plus is much safer.

      • +1

        Good luck getting updates

The device will probably be worth less than $100 in a few weeks

        • +1

Don't buy Huawei for now. If you got one already install all updates as much as you can including google apps

  • +3

    Newly released. Ouch!

  • +7

Looks like Huewai phones are getting into tread now, look at all the deals on ozbaragin, it’s killing Samsung and iPhones.

    • +24

Read the news and you might figure out why they have to discount heavily

      • +3

Stores are getting rid of them heavily discounted. They know Huawei won't worth much once no more google updates

  • +3

Is this better than a galaxy s9?

    • +1

      No.

    • It is exactly a Nova 4E, different countries actually have the 6gb ram version and reviews say it's not performing really well, but the earbuds doest give a big boost on the value

  • -3

Meh.. I think next week someone will be selling this for $300.

  • +2

    This or Mi 9 SE?

    • +2

Mi 9 SE. I bought one, great phone.

    • Yeah tough choice.

  • +2

    6.15" FHD screen.

If 7.15 I will get one

    • +1

Mate 20x or honor note 10

  • +13

I would wait as the Huawei phone price will be reducing as Google has reportedly pulled Huawei's Android licence.

    • Then Google must be evil, hah
Just wait to see their actions

      • +9

It was actually a US government ban with any US company; not just google but who cares about the facts right?

        • +1

          Quite right
          The law of the jungle

        • +2

It is exactly that a US ban from using Google, not world wide ban. Google are being rediculous really. They only have to enforce there Executive order from Chump in the USA. Not the rest of the world. It's bloody stupid. FYI it will be business as usual soon enough. This shit won't last long!

          • +5

@XxAiDsTaRxX: Wrong, every US company have to do it globally.

            • @snvl: I guess I stand corrected then lol. Maybe it's not the best to write a comment such as this at 3.am haha

I must have got that tiny bit of info from a rt russia today comment section lol. Gotta love the comments in those videos

          • +2

@XxAiDsTaRxX: Personally I don't believe the US ban would follow through, it's more of a tactic to coerce China into trade talks. If it does happen, that would paint US black and incur backlash from all around the world. True that USA is powerful enough to do whatever they want against Europe, China or whoever. But they can not afford all those countries banding together, which would happen if they pull a political string on all scientific matters.

    • Can you go with custom roms though?

      • No, bootloader on Huawei are locked. Used to be able to buy unlock codes for 50-100 US pesos but it seems the guy gets the codes can no longer get them.

        • Damn that means with no updates and no custom roms Huawei is next to worthless like LG

          • +1

@neonlight: AFAIK current phones (mate 20,p30 line) will still have security updates. Future phones won't.

  • Huawei P30 Lite vs Huawei P30 = Whats the real difference apart from Camera and CPU? Is P30 twice as better as it's price?

    • +2

Depends what important for you. Value Vs features Vs benefits. If u use camera a lot then P30. If play games a lot then P30. Otherwise decent phone (just released) for decent price with bonus earbuds. I was in the position with these questions and end up getting mi 8 lite because I need b28 vs Redmi note 7 that hardly get the one with b28. I am also struggling withheadphone jack as mi 8 lite doesn't have one but tick for note 7. Come to conclusion that I rather b28>h.jack also slightly extra for AU warranty Vs no for note 7. Thanks

  • +4

i like how the price is dropping, i wana see how low it will go, i wil eventually buy one when they offer a deal that i cannot refuse

    • +1

thats the normal price, this is a Nova 4e,the model it replaced=the Nova 3e had rrp of $399,but most place sell it for $349 to begin with, with ebay 10% off site wide it's just a little over $300,now if you sell the earbuds,it will make the 4e about the same price,a bit over $300.
the 3e was down to $280ish with ebay 20% off selected seller about 8month after release,as low as $250 last week, which is 1 year 2month after release.
      https://www.notebookcheck.net/Huawei-launches-the-Nova-4e-a-…

I bought my mum the 3e(p20 lite) @$280,good phone for sub 300.

  • +5

given that the so called freebuds go for around 130 bucks at the cheapest, this phone is 300 bucks, not bad at all but i think we can do better by next week

  • +1

Got one for father in law, thanks for the good deal~

  • +1

I use a old iPhone 6. I don’t need a new phone so no plans on upgrading but I’m interested to see how low these phones can go.

Cracking price. Even with the Google dramas, still cracking price.

  • Ay pappy!

  • Yeah when Apple gets banned in China you will see Apple phones drop to, time to stock up on Apple lol.

    https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.wired.com/story/if-china…

    • +4

China won't ban Apple (they've already announced and assured that). They are not that dumb. Companies are moving manufacturing outside of China so why would they want to push Apple out? Pushing Apple (and other US companies) out of China is one of Trump's goals. So, it makes zero sense to China giving Trump a helping hand right now.

Huawei care more about 5G network equipment. Android phones are more or less glue and go nowadays (get the parts and glue them all together). Unlike Apple phones, when it comes to Android phones, there is no brand loyalty anyway. Low profit margin so you need huge quantity.

    • +2

Absolutely impossible. President Xi's wife is using iPhone.

  • -2

Wow, it’s happening around the world, huawei = hell wei

Japan's SoftBank chooses Nokia and Ericsson for 5G network. They are smart and it’s great choice.

    • +3

Nah, it was intentional and somewhat political. Trump was visiting Japan. You think Japan dared to state they are going to use Huawei for 5G? Japan was sucking up to Trump big time. Despite that, Trump is still pretty p*ssed with Japan. It was no surprise given SoftBank's stand right after Huawei got put on the US blacklist. Deep down, Japan and China aren't friends.

Huawei will have a tough time ahead. Europe telcos will need to decide soon and it doesn't look good for Huawei. We (AUS) already banned Huawei for 5G - so that's basically bye bye TPG 5G.

    • How is it smart and great choice when they chose an inferior and more expensive product?

  • What's the opinion on this vs Nokia 7 plus?
Ignoring the cost difference and Google issues.

    • Probably Nokia 7 Plus. Honestly, pick the one that is cheaper. Nokia 7 Plus supports bluetooth 5 (though I don't know all 3 features or just one out of three - I am guessing 1 out of 3 only) - but do you actually have a BT5 device? It also has the AI acceleration in CPU gimmick. Raw CPU power P30 Lite seems to be a bit better, but GPU in SD660 wins (so overall, SD660 is probably just a bit better).

Mid range phones, price is still a big factor I reckon.

      • Some sites indicate SD660 only supports BT 4. Need to double check.

  • they got to be selling at a loss for that level of hardware

    • not really, honestly the redmi 7 pro has a better cpu, and not far off from this device, camera however is a bit better on this

    • It's basically a Nova 4e, which is only $377 in China.

  • -2

Awesome price for 2019 flagship-lite phone

Too bad the bootloader unlock situation is so crappy

    • Don't get why this is getting negged

If the functionalities of your devices can be disabled by foreign powers. It's important to choose devices that can be freely unlocked

  • ignoring the licensing/update issue, how would this compare with an LG V30+?

    • +3

V30+ is better. Better CPU, GPU, and better display (1440p/2K vs 1080p/FHD).

  • For those talking about google/android concerns. Dosent that all only apply to any new phone models after that announcement? So the p30 lite wont be affected at all? Correct me if wrong?

    • It could affect P30 Lite once the 90 days grace period runs out and not extended by US department of commerce.

      Unaffected:

      • All Google apps and services: Chrome, Google Maps, YouTube, GMail app, PlayStore, Google Now will still get updates.

Affected (if no extension after 3 months):

      • Future security patches will need to be based on Android AOSP (open source branch), rather than the latest Google branch for licensed partners.
      • Next major update of Android OS (i.e. Android Q) for Huawei phones will need to be based on AOSP. Also, whether Huawei can still bundle Google apps in that major update is questionable.

If Huawei is really fast, 3 months might be just enough to squeeze in Android Q update before the 90 days, but I don't fancy the odds.

      • Could you explain how the affected points matter to the average user? What if i just dont update my phones software when it asks to?

        • First, minor security updates for the existing version (let's say Android P / 9), Google would release the security patches to the licensed / partner release branch first. Therefore, other manufacturers will release security patches promptly. Huawei will need to wait for those changes to reach AOSP branch before they can see/release the fix.

As for major OS upgrades, the same time issue remains there. However, Android phone manufacturers aren't quick at releasing OS upgrades anyway. The inability to include Google apps and services is an issue though. Reason being while Google cannot ban customers from installing Google apps and services, Huawei won't be able to provide detailed instructions (if they got banned). Unofficial instructions and packages are unreliable and unsafe.

If you elect not to upgrade, then there is no issue. However, if you elect to just upgrade security patches, then it can be a bit tricky. I found Android makers don't always make it clear whether it is a security patch or a major OS upgrade.

In short, on the safe side, assume zero future update and if the price is still good to you, then you can consider it.

  • Huawei P30 lite or Xiaomi Mi 9 SE or LG V30+?

  • guys, worth to check out huawei P30 lite review.. refer to point no 11.
