        • I heard NRMA doesn't stack with moneybackco before… Not sure though… You gotta call to get NRMA disc. I'm interested myself but won't move until I know if it can be unlocked. No point if it's locked to Voda only.

        • +1

You can't do NRMA as that is through a specific NRMA link. If you could you would lose out on the Money Back Co deal.

Money Back Co you sign up for free and login from their site, then go to merchant link Vodafone. From there you select the SGS II. Your purchase is tracked by clicking on Vodafone through Money Back Co. Then up to 2 months later you will receive your $84. On the 1 year anniversary of joining MBC they will take $10 fee, only if you've accumulated that much wealth.

The third thing you could do to save money would be to ask a friend who is already on vodafone postpaid contract to get this for you. The deal is you save 10% on your monthly charges. For this deal it would be 10% of $29 by 12 months = $34.80.

Dropping the price of the phone to $599.20

Chances are you'd more than make up your MBC $10 annual fee.

(edit) only thing about the Vodafone 10% off 2nd contract is it says dial this number to take advantage of this offer. Not sure if it is automatic if you order online and already have an account with them.

        • 10% off second post paid is not available in conjunction with any other offer. So won't be available with $50 offer?

        • Yes, $634. However, I'm not 100% sure about the $50 discount because event though the receipt I got indicates that $50 discount will be applied, the terms and conditions states that $29 cap is excluded from the discount. I won't know for sure until the third billing months when $50 is meant to be subtracted from the bill.

          1. I don't think you can apply for the NRMA discount because the Galaxy S II is not listed on the NRMA discout page.

  • Hi all,

I'm thinking of taking up this deal myself but wasn't real keen on the whole Vodafail issue (maybe it's better in my area, will be checking) and I came across this SIM unlock method:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092451

I believe this puppy is a pentaband mobile so it'll work 100% on any of our Ozzie networks! If this helps you out don't forget to buy the original devs a beer! ;)

  • Do you guys know if this deal will be permanent or just temporarily? The 12 months dea $768? Thanks.

    • this deal is temporary but in future the price will go down anyway.

      • Ok thanks, but the 12 months contract period will always be there yea? I don't want to be locked 24 months anymore… :)

  • Just spoke to Vodafone and they said that in order to get the 10% of this 2nd contract you have to purchase it over the phone through them as they are a different department to online sales. Also that there is nowhere online that lets you inform them you have a contract already. I think that's a load of crap so I am going to still order through MBC and then if I don't get my 10% off contact TIO. A Vodafone rep will try and smooth things over, just ask for your 200mb data quota to be put to 1GB and you will rest your case : P

    That's not too greedy.

    • May be apply online through MBC and call them after 10%off not applied in the first bill? Take screen shot from the website as your proof. BTW, do you guys think this is a very good deal that I should act now? I'm not desperate to get a new phone but it's an itch to scratch :) You reckon price will go down further soon? Thanks.

      • They lied.

Vodafone online checkout first question "are you an existing Vodafone customer"

As for price drop someone mentioned it will prob go to 60% within a few months, based on SGS I.

        • price drop is generally only on the 24 months plans. there isnt generally much change with the 12 month plans

Good new!! I just chat with the online sale. She offered me extra $25.00 credit. So total is $75.00+MCO $84=$159.00 The price is really good!!

    • How do you apply the $25 extra online? Moneybackco will definitely need online application to track the purchase. $25 credit will be applied manually via the phone or how? Thanks.

      • If you send your VF order number to [email protected] ATTN (Online Sales Name). She will keep an eye on your order and manual add this adjustment when it is activited. I am trying to bargin more data, but she refused..

        • What's the online salesperson's name, so we can ATTN it to her?

  • May I know the online sales name may be? :P

    • sorry..

  • OR You will need to get back on chat and provide your order number so that she can monitor the order and place the credit on once activated. SALES PERSON: HEATHER

  • How do I know Moneybackco track my order???

    • You should get a transaction notification within 4 days or raise a transaction issue with them.

  • Is anyone else having problems with the vodafone online shop? I can't add anything to cart, trying to buy this, tried a few other items but nothing will work.

    • Just tried and was able to add it then using Firefox 4. Try another browser, clear your cache.

      • Tried 3 different browsers, iPhone and android as well. Will try again now. Thanks.

        • Worked fine this morning, must have been glitchy when I went on last night.

  • Hi,

I spoke the online rep, and I think $25 sign up credit is standard. Tried to push for $50 but refused <kindly and politely though> :) However, the device can be unlocked via this link: http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2909 Forgot to ask about the fee though.

    • How long did your confirmation email take to come through after you finished the checkout? It's been 2 hours so far for me, I see they have placed a holder on my cc with a $1 transaction but no email?

  • I also got an email saying $25 credit applied.

    • Still no confirmation email for me but I spoke with a rep and it seems ok, order still says processing after 24hrs though, is this normal?

  • Did anyone ask about insurance?

I asked and was told it is not available, only through telesales.

Thing is my last phone, the SGS I was ordered online and I have insurance for that. Doesn't make sense.

  • Hi,

Did anyone find out how to unlock the device for free? After 6 months may be? Thanks.

    • I commented above: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092451
This method won't be for the average consumer but for those of who are going to root the phones anyhow it seems simple and safe enough.

      • Don't brick your phone as you don't have insurance.

      • I'll be rooting mine and unlocking it. Just received billing email, all seems good.

As far as I know the phones have 24 month repair warranty as well. Not sure how that holds up with a 12 month contract though.

        • I don't think bricking your phone due to rooting it is covered by repair warranty.

        • No of course not but I'd suggest not mentioning that you rooted the phone and bricked it if that happened. Most of these rooting methods are one click fool proof methods eventually so if you don't think you're up to doing it right away then it might be wise to wait for an easier method.

  • Anyone receive a delivery SMS yet? A couple of users at WP are reporting they have.

    • Nope, I got an email saying it would be delivered sometime between today and the end of the week though.

      • I didn't get that but customer support did tell me within 4 business days at latest.

        • OK so I got my phone today, it is supposed to work right out of the box but being Vodafail, it doesn't register on their network.

I went into a vodafone store and the guy there called someone in the internet orders section who said there were issues and the new sims werent able to be registered on the network.

Such a fail, why send them out if you can't use them?

        • Read your post on WP, seems strange, can't you call up 1555 and activate?

  • I got my phone yesterday. The documentation that came with it says the sim is activated, but it is not. Allows emergency calls only. If you call their call centre it takes you to automated system where first thing it asks for is a mobile number, which is not provided with the package. Talked to Vodafone rep just now and he said their system is down and to call back in 2 hours. Imagine the system being down at 10 am in the morning. Nothing but Vodafail!

By the way, the phone comes with lots of Vodafail apps. Don't like it!

Anyone knows how to sync Macbook Address Book with Android contacts, without using Google Contacts? Tried Google, but almost all solutions recommend syncing via Google Contacts.

  • Wow, I'm lucky that I'm missing out this deal… I reckon… Is the case nice after all?

    • The case has not arrived yet. It will arrive separately… "soon".

      • The bloatware can be removed easily when rooted, that's one of the many android perks.

        • Any layman's website to help me in rooting the device?
          Thanks.

        • Ignore my last question. Thanks.

        • I always use xdadevelopers forum

  • If I buy the outright one from somewhere say allphone, will it got bloatware too?

  • so if i'm still with three's contract, can i still get 10% off the plan?
