Now could you please enlighten me by telling me how the BAN makes you better off?

      • -7

        How is it not?

        • +1

On Ozb, you are famous for being a Huawei hater. Interesting.

            • @[Deactivated]: Unfortunately yourself is here NOT to discuss a deal. Dont be double standard.

You talk shhh in every single post about P30. Interesting coz I start to think that maybe Huawei paid you to talk this way so people would stand by Huawei with sympathy.

              • -5

@RimofLeo: I do not double standard standing with sympathy.

I talk about the deal, the product, the seller, the supplier or the manufacturer. I don't talk about you. You talk about me.

I compared P30 lite with other Huawei products like Mate 8. Even though there are a lot of cheaper and better devices here, from Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, LG,… It's all about Huawei on the front page.

It more looks Huawei is paying a lot of people to upvote their expensive shitty devices and deceive people. Also they better stop spying for the Chinese government and stealing technology secrets and copying other companies patents.

Here is the tip, concentrate on the deal.

  • Will mobileciti stock the pixel 3a?

    • Hi txb,

There is no ETA currently on the Pixel 3a series, but we're working to secure stock of it. Feel free to check out our current pixel range, thanks.

Ty for the comparison! Looks like LG wins it for me.

What's the point of buying a Huawei phone? They are worthless

    • +17

Huawei P30 Lite (Bonus Huawei FreeBuds Lite) $449.10

It looks like they are worth money because they are not being given away.

    • +6

Why do you say that? They can still use Android - just not come installed with the Google Services (Play Store, Gmail, etc). There are other ways to install them though. And still perfectly fine without them anyway. You don't need to use the Play Store. Amazon Android phones don't come with the Play Store - they use their own store.

      • +9

I am sure P30 lite comes with google service installed. Its the future phones such as Mate 30 Pro that is coming with Huawei own OS and their own play stores.

    • Thats why i bought it for free a few weeks ago, cant complain ;)

  • +3

How does the P30 Lite camera fare/compare with its costlier brother, the P30?

  • Do you provide an ABN (for TRS)?

    • +1

I received an invoice with abn at the pre discount amount

      • Cheers

  • LG V30+ ThinQ or Mi 9 SE?

  • +32

We don't have to like companies such as Huawei, but they must be respected.
Without them (and other strong competitors), gods know how much Apple will be shredding us with IphoneXSRPLUS#($#)%

Though I am not a fan of either company (Oneplus yayy!~), I am glad they exist. Competiton, almost always, promotes consumer benefits.

    • +17

Xiaomi all the way for me.

      • +6

Serious question, is there concrete evidence or alleged?

      • +8

When they don't have to spend as much money on research design etc they could easily undercut the companies that they stole from.

        fyi

        • +2

You ought to compare Apples to Apples. Apple is neither in the business of making 5g modem or infrastructure for 5 network.

          • +3

@klownvandamn: If you read that article, it's comparing major IT/tech/manufacturing companies on total R&D investment. It's not about any particular field, you don't just read the title.

            • +1

@wch0852: Huawei major investment is in infrastructure for 5g network and not phones. This investment in R&D has made them leader in 5g.

              • @klownvandamn: I agree, Apple's investment in R&D give us wide screen phones we use today. I'm very grateful.

            • +1

@wch0852: I read the article. You didn't. You lack context. You can praise Huawei as much as you can!
fyi I used to work Qualcomm.

              • @klownvandamn: welp, I never owned a Huawei product, nor do I work for Qualcomm. FYI.

        • -2

They stole their way to being a large company. Their networking tech which they are a now global leader of have been caught red handed multiple times stealing before.

I am not denying that they aren't spending money on research but it's how they got there is what I have a problem with. They are a shady company with a history of theft and completely deserve the ban. This is not a company you want to be a global player in anything.

          • +1

@kasp: You do hate them. maybe do something about it.

      • What technology did Huawei steal from others?

          • +1

@klownvandamn: lol, u know the funny thing is no one complaining about apple copying htc.

            • +1

@samelight: HTC was ODM and it stole from others

              • +1

@klownvandamn: ya, no one care about apple stole from HTC and certainly no one care about HTC stole from others.

          • +7

@UponOccasion: Those are allegations and opinions. You need a solid evidence like found guilty in court, Apple vs Qualcomm for example.

            • +5

@wch0852: Lol even when there are actual emails (see @klownvandamn 's comment) with them caught red handed encouraging their employees to steal trade secrets there will always be individuals such as yourself that have drunk the kool-aid and deny reality.

The question by one user was "is there concrete evidence of theft?", answer yes the emails. Second question was "what technology did they steal?" which is answered in the links I provided. You keep shifting the goal posts so the criteria can never be meet.

Firstly, a court ruling is not evidence it is a ruling based upon evidence. Secondly, they are currently facing charges and it is currently before the courts. Those allegations in the Texas court were only raised in like October last year where as the Apple V Qualcomm lawsuit was raised in like January 2017 almost 2 years earlier and wasn't even ruled on, it was settled before there was a ruling. They were not found guilty in court although the European Commission did fine them.

Edit: Here you go, even better. Here is a 2017 court ruling that they spied:
              https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/19/huawei_spied_us_jur…
              https://www.seattletimes.com/business/technology/july-awards…

Add this to the list of formal allegations from CISCO, Motorola, Ahkan Semiconductor diamond glass, CNEX Labs etc.

              • -6

@UponOccasion: You don't know anything about Huawei.
How do you know they are 'actual' emails? I do find them hilarious though.
As for Tappy, it's so trumped up. Have you ever looked it up? what it does, how it performed?
Would such a hilarious incident happen if it wasn't between US company and Chinese Company?
I still think you need to accuse someone based on evidence, not judging by the background or listening to others saying.
Not knowing enough can be more damaging than the knowledge itself.

            • +7

@wch0852: How about Cisco vs Huawei. In settlement Huawei had to alter it's products to remove the stolen code.

              https://blogs.cisco.com/news/huawei-and-ciscos-source-code-c…

Basically Huawei stole Ciscos source code line by line. It is just so blatent what they did. They have been caught so many times this isn't an opinion. The reason you don't see many court cases is because they are based in China and have the government protecting them. How do you sue someone in a country which doesn't really care about IP and on top of that is protected by the government?

              • -3

                @kasp: From Cisco, really?
Speaking as you have been to China yourself, are you a Chinese?

                • +5

@wch0852: The way you sucking up to Huawei, it seems like you have vested interest or Chinese? Why are you and others so bend on saying our own Australian government is wrong? When both government and private organisation all the around the world have not only accused but proved Huawei has been in wrong.

        • +5

Tappy, T Mobile's touch testing robot. If you read the emails, which Huawei don't deny, they're hilarious. Huawei have already paid $4.8 million.

          • @ozbking: They $4.8 million was awarded by the federal jury because Huawei broke the agreement and lost the case not like Huawei paid T-Mobile $4.8 million to use the robot. There is a difference between the two.

            • @going nowhere: It's hard to imagine big corporates didn't implant business spy and steal. Everybody do the same thing isn't it? This case is just liked accusing the thief but at the mean time protecting the robbers.

              • @Tomika: And because everybody does it so it makes stealing a right thing?

        • I have never been a Huawei supporter in the past, but I am one now as you made me aware how good Huawei has became. I have to say that Huawei is in the lead now with all it's latest technology, even those Americans can't stop them. Years later when people look back, they will see how Huawei proves themselves. When they realise that Huawei offers more advanced technology for less and when those of them who said Huawei has been in the 'wrong' for 'spying' and 'stealing' would take it for granted enjoying the benefit and innovation that Huawei brought to us today, knowingly or unknowingly. They will regret for trusting Governments blindly. The decision they made today, those politicians are not there to bare it, all the harm goes to us consumers, standing beside Americans was a true mistake.

      • +3

        biased opinion karp

    • +5

Yes, competition is the way to go. Eliminating Huawei does bad to the competition of Android (less pressure for manufacturers to innovate, and more reliance for customers to find a good phone manufacturers).

  • +1

No point buying this. There are better deals around this price range

  • +1

Looking forward to reading this in every deal involving Huawei /s

    • Any recommendations?

I see Huawei has stopped production of phones now. Caveat Emptor.

      Reports claim. Provide a link.

      • +1

It's a rumour, released by the same people who released all the other rumours to spread false information, for a specific agenda and guess what agenda that is

        • -1

Is it to stop China spying on the west? 😁 You fan bois are funny.

      • -1

If you can get your Google working again, type in this "huawei stops making phone". All the links you want. https://www.google.com/search?q=huawei+stops+making+phone&oq…

        • +1

Read your own links “reports claim”. Unsubstantiated rumours.

          • -1

@try2bhelpful: Breaking news - Every story you have ever seen in the papers, magazines, and TV is a report that claims something. Your welcome, I'm just trying to be helpful 😋.

            • +1

@Wardaddy: There are “beat up” stories from dodgy sources and there are stories from reliable sources. I tend to try to be helpful by choosing reliable sources. 😁 This issue may affect the number of handsets they produce for “western” consumption but they have a large Chinese market and Russia has agreed to use their 5g technology. There is a big world out there beyond the “west” and getting bigger everyday. Whatever they may be doing this is, largely, a trade beat up by Trump. If he thinks giving them a tick is expedient to him this will all stop. Given how many state secrets Trump just gives away all China needs to do is find him a golfing buddy.
