Samsung QA65Q900 65" 8K TV $5946 + Bonus $1000 Gift Card + Free Local Shipping & Installation @ Harvey Norman

50

It says Tabletop or wall mount install but you supply the bracket. Get them to throw one in.

Link to Rtings favourable review if you want to check it out.

Hope this helps someone? Try to price match elsewhere if you prefer as I'm aware Jerry isn't popular round these parts.

Or get a OLED which is better for less $$$

    • Not so good for the bright rooms though -which put me off

      • This isn't even true, OLED fine in bright rooms. LCD have to limit brightness in many scenes to avoid blooming, OLED can turn off individual pixels so has better contrast if not brighter in a lot of content.LCD only significantly brighter in scenes with a high APL, a lot of whiteness/brightness on screen at once.

        • oled only get bright for small areas. brightness will drop as area becomes larger to lower power consumption. full bright white screen oled will use far too much power. this is why fald led are still very popular, no burn in and very bright full screen.

This is 8k though. While i'm not suggesting anyone needs 8k or that this is a smart purchase, you can't really compare as they aren't the same. These new qleds also aren't as far behind in viewing angles or blacks as they used to be and as mentioned they have an advantage in brightness.

  • What content is available in 8k exactly? I assume trying to stream in 8k in Aus on a non-commercial connection would be a pretty shitty experience right

    • No content yet. That's how technology works though, someone has to release something to push technology to evolve. This is how 4k started too and everyone was saying there's no 4k content. I'm not gonna buy one but can't hate Samsung for pushing the technology boundaries.

        still very little 4k content

        • Do you mean blu rays or free to air?

    • You might find a few youtube videos in 8k, enjoy streaming that at australian internet speeds.

  • well, if you got 20 amex cards, you can get another $1000 off via the amex offers, lol, but honestly, i will prefer 80inch tv instead of 8k resolution

Just make sure you purchase with a card that has price protection.. eg 28 degrees.. will easily claim up to few thousand within 12 months,
or just dont waste your money on overpriced bs

    • I think 28degrees requires the purchase of extra insurance to enable this feature. You will also be limited to a $1000 claim per product.

your right $1000 but better then nothing, was thinking it was $2000 but thats merchandise protection, yes you need to have it enabled which is free aslong as you pay off your bill by end of the month, otherwise small charge

I bought this TV on a similar deal a week ago at HN Springvale, with $500 EFTPOS gift card.. Ended up stripping the HN GC and applying discounts against the TV purchase and extended warranty and left with just the $500 EFTPOS gift card.

They had banners that said free delivery and Tech2Home install so they had to include that too. The Tech2Home install only includes the generic brackets but was able to have them throw in the Samsung flat bracket.

Re: the TV, it is bright and upscaling is wonderful even on FTA non HD content.. I think upscaling works so good that when streaming in Netflix I can hardly tell the difference when stream drops down to 2mbps 1080p and back up to 15mbps 2160p.

What I notice on the TV as well is that the lag when switching channels or switching apps are almost instantaneous. Overall I'm happy with my purchase

Now $5955 + $1000 GC + Free Delivery @ The Good Guys using 15OFFTV :) I'm guessing HN will most likely match it soon.

    • Jerry matched it. Title updated.

edit: with any luck we might be able to get this for tv for $500 with $2000 in gift cards by the end of the day. :)

  • Can anyone tell me if i add Credit card insurance now with Go Mastercard that I will be covered for price protection?
