  • how does it works? Try with 2 ppl to Syd comes out to be $280 instead of get one free of $140.

    • +1

You need to select the take a friend for free fare and it has to be during the specific periods for your destination.

      • edit im dumb

      • aND where is that !!
Bad enough we cannot connect to the stupid site.. And then to find the little icons..
Why do they advertised different destinations if they are not going to place icons on those dates..
        Load of Baloni !!!

    • i have put dates in for GOLD COAST.. AND NOTHING NO ICONS..
      GIMMICKS BIRTHDAY SALE !!

    • cheers, wasn't sure if it work or not as it is meant to be only for facebook fans currently. obviously it does!

  • Nice deals!

  • And now it's come to a grinding halt…

  • Go to :
    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/special-offers/11F4F
using IE. (Doesn't work on firefox)
    Sale fares for :19 Oct - 07 Dec 2011, 07 Feb - 21 Mar 2012
Only for flights listed on the page, NOT all flight. (I think)

  • +9

In all honesty it seems like the prices are pretty much the same.
A week or so ago a return fare to Tokyo fro GC was $450 ish. Today (for one person, one free) it's $1018.
Not much of a bargain Jetstar.

    • +10

I second that. Jack up the price and then say buy one get one for free.

      • +2

        exactly, hate this!

    • +1

I noticed that too, BS promotion.

      • So agree with you !
        What a load of ???P…..
having to find the little icons..
What icons cant see any on the dates we have to travel..
        Birthday sale JETSTAR GIMMICK !

  • not useful to me…in Oct…:(

  • +1

shit. baggage fees are jacked up a bit lately. I went to Hawaii on this deal last year and for $10 extra for baggage it was 2x32kgs, yes per person so 64kgs.

Now its like 15kgs for $18.

    • +3

Ready for your mouth to drop? I mean…REALLY drop?

Once knew a female, not the brightest spark…

$1850 fare from London…she brought back so much excess luggage the fees FOR THE LUGGAGE totalled…$3500!!!! $5350 in TOTAL to fly one way from London to Australia!!!

      • +5

and that's why they are jacking the fees up now … 'cos she didn't fly this year they want their money from someone else :)

      • lolz why didnt she upgrade to business class?
correct me if im wrong but lots of business class fare you can take up to 65kg
(i travel from HCMC to Melbourne a lot and i do this all the time)

        • +3

I think the answer to your question is that the woman was "not the brightest spark…" ;-)

    • Yeah so true !!! What a gimmick birthday sale… We have to find the little icons that allow your friend to fly free !! what bloody icon… the dates ive put in have no icons..
And we must travel on these dates.. acc has been booked..
      Load of ????!!!!

  • +2

Got $875 return for x2 tickets and 20kg luggage from melbourne to bangkok over the melbourne cup week (use a days less annual leave) and fly on the weekends to maximise the time.

It said on the website only one way was valid for the deal but was applied to both :)

  • +9

meh…. canberra gets screwed as usual

at least give us a cheap way to leave! :(

  • The airfares this time around are a LOT more expensive.

Still cheaper than the full service carriers, but the 2for1 just brings the fares down to pre-dollar boom level aka normal.

    Sad.

  • This is awesome! I stupidly missed out on Malaysian airlines sale… but this one works out to $412pp to DPS inc luggage.. just need to add some meals!

  • Great deal. $1078 RT for 2 people ($539 each RT) to Honolulu.

    • Honolulu deal seems to be the best of the deals.

      • Not sure how you got that fare Neil as it's only cheap on the SYD - HNL leg!? $499 outbound, inbound @ regular prices x2 and having to pay for luggage on top x2 per leg and the bundle fare if you choose that option x2 per leg, plus CC fees!

This Birthday sale for international fares is a terrible disappointment! Last time we got a true 2 for 1 to HNL, this time it's a handful of coppers saving due to their fare breakdown with luggage, bundle fares and the jacking of fares.

I jumped online to book @ 6.15 and my partner jumped on the phone. We were told on the phone @ that time there were no seats left on any 2 for 1 SYD - HNL flights!?

        • I put in March 1 to March 8, $499 each way plus $20 baggage fee on each leg. Just tried it again and the 2 for 1 is not available. First in, best dressed I guess.

        • Odd because it wasn't supposed to be for the return, only one way, SYD - HNL as per their website. Good luck to you if you booked it! :)

        • Even though the site states that it is
one-way sale for most international destinations,
          it is actually both ways.

The problem with the "sale page" is that, it is designed to display only sale fares ORIGINATING from Australia.
(Which is why, even though the return-leg is on sale, it's not displayed since the flight departs from HNL, which is NOT in australia)

  • Well mine has timed out a few times and it's been loading the 'regular' fares but without the 241 deal applied to them..

    They are a bit cheaper..

ie, 317 + 287 ex tax VS the sale version of 373 + 363.. oh well.. not too much difference!

    • Keeps timing out at payment! GAH. now the ad dissapeared from main site

  • +4

What if you have no friends who want to travel? Discriminatory pricing policy from Jetstar :-) I guess one can always book the second ticket and have twice as much space. The Chaser booked tickets with Virgin years ago under the fictional names of Al Kyder and Terry Wrist. I wonder if that still works :-)

    going down…..

We're experiencing very high levels of demand on our web site at the moment.
Please come back in 60 seconds and try your search again.
Alternatively, please try again in about 5 minutes.

    • I got exactly the same message.

      • Just keep trying.. when it starts taking a while to load, it's working! :)

    • epic…Epic…EPic…EPIc…EPIC lAG…hope the plane wont be lagged like this lol

  • So annoyed the Japan dates finish in October :( I got this deal last year and we went from Gold Coast to Osaka for 2 weeks over late November/early December for only $470 return each!

    • Me too mate… I was counting on this sale for cairns Tokyo fairs for Jan next year.. Looks like I will have to pay full price.

  • Great deal, at least this way you will have someone to keep you company at the airport when the flight is delayed / cancelled.

  • Anyone wanna go to Bali on 16th Nov? Just asking. Lol!

  • +1

    OzBargained?

alternatively please try again in a few weeks time when the servers will not be overloaded and you will have to pay full price

  • It's true that lots of the international fares have 'fly a friend' prices both ways. For Sydney - Manila, it comes to $410 per person - that's less than half what you would pay with any other airline. Not bad!

  • Any idea when is this offer expiring?

    • Thursday midnight.

    • Edit: Sale ends midnight (AEST) Thursday 9 June 2011, unless sold out prior.
      (Didn't read that earlier.)

  • Damn they are bumping me off the front page, good deal though, just booked return to the Hunter yay!

Why there is no January? I hate Jetstar!

    • It's called 'high season'. No airline will offer cheap fares during peak travel dates like school or public holidays, so this is certainly no reason to hate Jetstar.

    • its a no brainer question

  • Just booked for Melbourne in November for ruxcon. Brilliant, worked out $177 total for two people (one way wasn't 2-4-1)

  • Perth to Singapore for 2 - Total $498 - Booked!!

  • Jetstar's lastest tweet (11:30PM)

Hey everyone, sorry we're having a couple of issues with the slow website due to demand but fixing asap. Sit tight!

  • Brizzy to Bali (via syd, usually via Darwin. Syd is better IMO) $1126 with baggage for 2. Not too bad just a note they will charge you extra to pick your seat and also to checkout with credit card, I did Direct Deposit which is FREE yeah!

  • -2

Tried for a few periods in the deal period and some of the return flights won't let me have friend for free… I hate the way airlines promote cheap fares. This is for Per—Cairns, it should be valid for both directions but it is only valid on a few days… pathetic.

    • I checked, and it seems to be valid on most days.
      What dates did you check???

    • Try again… it's because it's not loading the right 'function'.. Also make sure you're using the provided link, and not going to www.jetstar.com! It'll only work through the link

      • I get the same thing :(

      • -1

I tried for Per—Cairs (return) 29/11/11 to 4/12/11. Only the return flight had the friend for free despite both flights being in the offer period. I also tried a couple more dates earlier but same result.

        • It's actually 2-for-1 on the 26/11/11 & 1/12/11.
          Probably not useful to you.
(Also, it's a while-stocks-last kind of promotion, ie. there is a limited no. of promo tickets for each flight)

      • I booked it anyway, the customer service number has been engaged all morning. Once it's free I'll call them and see if I can get the return leg changed.

I've booked return to perth from Melbs. Now I just need a good hotel and something to do.

        • Hope it works out.

  • +3

    forever alone :\

  • perth to singapore looks pretty good $209 , cheapest I have seen from perth

  • The site was s-l-o-w as…but finally got there. Syd-Melb return for 2 for $134 including 15kg checked luggage for us to share…can't complain about that! Good flight times as well I might add…none of this arrive and depart at an ungodly hour of the morning. Thanks, Jetstar!

  • Last night it was showing return leg of Sydney-Nadi with 2F1, but today it is not giving the offer at all on same source-destination. :(

  • Great Bargain. Got to positive this one!

  • Did anyone manage to get 2F1 ticket from Ho Chi Minh City To Sydney? I chose a sale ticket, it shown me sale price but it asked me to pay full price on confirmation page. So frustrating!

    • Had the same problem got the sale fares perth to singapore went back to change something and no more 2 for 1

I deleted the jetstar cookies from firefox but it still didnt work.

Tried a different computer and it worked. Perth Singapore 2 adults 1 infant 20kg baggage out 25kg baggage return for $626

  • +1

site been down for nearly 30 mins now cant book anything

  • spoke to the CS team, certain flights have used their allocation of 2F1 tickets, which is why my perth return leg wasnt giving me the offer. I dont quite believe this but he said you need to play with the dates to find the one where you will get the return leg. It's not guaranteed you'll get it, even though you are within the promotional period.

  • i managed to get the 2F1 syd-honolulu return…must've been lucky because i kept refreshing and refreshing and finally got in, paid and done. been trying to look at those same flights and can't even get past the site-crash message for the past hour

  • I am traveling Jet Star first time. I am booking 4 tickets for family and it asks me extra $4 per standard seat. What if I don't assign the seat during my booking?

    • Just try to assign it later on when the sale is over. or simply checking as normal (but risk being split up)

  • blablabla

"We're experiencing very high levels of demand on our web site at the moment.

  • :(
    "Sorry!

    Thanks for your search.

Our website is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. We will be back online from 6.00am (AEST), 17th May.

Thanks for choosing Jetstar! We look forward to welcoming you on board soon."

  • Don't forget there's the same deal on the Singapore/Vietnam/NZ sites too.

Got myself SGN-SIN-REP in Nov for ~$200 ($100 pp). AirAsia charges that much just for the KUL-REP leg!
A friend also got themselves SYD-NAN (Fiji) return in Mar for ~$540 ($270 pp).

Some routes aren't much of a discount to their regular "sale" fares, but some routes are giving good deals.

  • These dates suck if you're a uni student.

  • dont forget with schoolies in QLD late Nov/Early December they cut alot of cheap tickets to Gold Coast, Ballina, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast etc…

  • Seems to be nothing left for flights to HCM from aus

  • This deal came at the right moment. I got 4 for SYD-NADI for $1280. And a voucher for 4-night stay at a hotel… all is going good so far. :)
