  • It’s been 3 months since my Home Loan(Advantage package that includes a credit card) was approved, and we haven’t got our credit cards yet. Worst customer service ever!
Also, no Apple Pay support :(

    • +1

Seemed to be getting mixed reviews from St George. I got the Amplify Signature Qantas card from them, and got it within a week. Others had longer waits.

And no Samsung Pay either. Means I can't pay from my Samsung watch. Dammit.

    Link to 90k card?
$49 is pretty good for 60k points with a 2k minimum spend.

I'm new to Qantas, so I wonder if those 20k bonus points aline with this card for new users.

    • +1

Definitely should. That's where I first saw this (on the qantas website which show all the qantas points earning credit cards and bonus point offers, as well as that extra 20k for new users promo).

      • +2

"New" user makes majority of the ozb community ineligible.

        • There are dozens of us! Looking forward to the 80k points from this card. Looks pretty good. Hopefully don't get rejected

      • Awesome, thank you!

    • +1

      $179 fee though
      Signature card

      • How much do you need to earn to get the 90k card?

        • Sorry I couldn't easily see it in their page. ANZ Black was $75k so this might be similar?

        • $75K $4000 minimum spend in 90 days

  • From BoM credit card website : “Interest free days do not apply to credit cards with balance transfers, you'll be charged the applicable purchase rate on any spend that you make whilst you have an outstanding balance transfer.”

    • Yes, that's pretty standard. This is not a good offer for those looking at balance transfers.

  • +1

Existing customers who currently hold a Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer

  • Is the application process handled by Citi? Like the Qantas premium and virgin money cards.

    • +1

St George is a division of Westpac.

  • Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transaction

That's annoying. Used to be the way to pay bills that charged credit fees but still using credit card and getting points and hit the 90day spend limit.

  • Cannot get the offer when paying fees of any kind. Even college fees. Citibank was the best. Could pay for anything and still get 90k

  • +1

Do they have a minimum salary requirement? Keen to get one for the mrs

  • +1

    Is a Beem It transfer a "spend"…

    • +1

Unless they've changed it, Beem It only supports Debit cards and not Credit.

  • 60k is good but there seem to be no more zero first year fee deals.

  • +2

Previous major issues with a similar deal regarding the bank’s customer service.

  • I take it the 60k includes the 20k bonus from Qantas?

Edit: nope, seems like I was wrong. 80k Qantas points for first time Qantas credit card holders this July. Sign me up!

  • Not sure whether to go for this or… this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/458818

Assuming you can't get both hahahaha

    • +2

Double spend, 2k is easier to hit and plenty of other Qantas cards around.
      $179 vs $49
$130 is basically 13,000 points, so in my view it's 60,000 points vs 76,000 points.

Personally it's easy to spend 2k and then get another card with 90k bonus.

Be aware with St George credit card accounts.
They make it very VERY hard for you to actually pay the balance back (if you don't have a savings accounts with them).

Example 1: You cannot setup direct debit unless you go to a branch and fill in a PAPER form. What is this stone age??

Example 2: You can pay it using BPAY but their website DOES NOT have the details of the bpay account.
I had to find it on a bloody facebook page.

When I canceled the card after getting all them points (mmm..) I gave this feedback to the lady and instead of acknowledging the downfalls she was defending it with excuses such as "OHH well you can always call us to get BPAY details" or.. "ohh all banks need you to go in the branch to fill in a paper form (which is incorrect) ". Like B***H it's TWENTY NINETEEN!

So either they don't have their shit together OR they are intentionally making things difficult and counting on people deferring their payments and accruing interest.

If you know you're the lazy type and not disciplined I do not recommend you go with them or they will make their money back.
Also make sure you set a reminder to cancel the card before 12 months or they will make their money back with the renewal fees.

    • Don't the BPay details show on your monthly credit card statement?

  • Might want to change the title as it may be confusing, these are Amplify cards, not Altitude (offered by Westpac, which is different).

    • Oh woops, thanks. Now changed.

  • im a contractor and I got rejected first time in my life with my application

  • This card would have been nice if it didn't exclude fees as part of their earnings and spending criteria for bonus points.

Fees made up huge of many people's expenses (Council rates, school fees, etc)

But I hope Private Health premium are still counted.

They still charge 3% for international purchases.

    • I don't think they exclude normal fees like school and the like. Council rates would be government spend with is excluded.

I read the T+Cs as excluding card fees.

Has anyone asked and gotten a straight reply from St George?

      • Paying school fees has worked on other cards before. I don't think it should be an issue.

        • Awesome. Thanks

          • @burningrage: But I’ll know for sure when I pay the fees when the kids go back to school in a couple of weeks.

  • The link is broken?

    • "We're currently upgrading our online system."

      BankSA and BOM still work

  • St George website still not working on PC, I just signed up on the mobile site which worked fine.

Alternatively you could also sign up via Bank SA or Bank of Melbourne instead (their websites seem fine).

  • Got rejected from St George Bank of Melbourne. Should i try with Bank SA? Seems pointless.

    • Don’t all applications just go through the same processing centre?

  • Ohh i was not aware that they use the same system to process application.
Bunmer as this is a good deal!

  • I just did the st George deal.. are the banks linked in such a way that I am ineligible from doing it with the other 2?

    • I've done St George and BoM simultaneously last year - got the points from both. Will be repeating this soon.

      • I did too. Not yet decided if I will take the chance again this year. Gotta get the Signature card first of all (12 months wait ends soon).

        • did you apply on the same day or some time apart for those 2 different banks?

          • @melay0326: I applied for my card from Bank of Melbourne. On my credit report is shows St George

          • @melay0326: I'd like to know this too. I already have the StG card, but I haven't finalised my BoM application (I did both apps at the same time, just didn't finish the BoM one).

The BoM application is actually listed in my StG online banking so I'm unsure if I should bother finishing the app, or just let it expire.

        • What did you like about this card? Not impressed with them for investing.

          • +2

@Yola: What do I like about this card? Points. I like points. Couldn't care less about any of St George's other oferrings.

  • The other 2 banks are showing $99 annual fee.

When you applied through 2 different banks, did you apply on the same day or some time apart?

  • Stupid question maybe

Just got my BOM card and set it up (Clicked through from QFF bonus site)
No mention of Frequent Flyer , just amplify rewards internet banking - Have i missed something on application

    • +1

Just call the rewards centre and confirm they have your QFF number. When you receive your monthly statement you will see your Amplify Qantas Points Summary.

      • Yeah will do today
        Thanks

  • Any exclusion if you've held a westpac card the last 12 months rather than a st george card?

  • For those who have applied, how long did it take for you to receive your card? St George told me I'd get it in 5 - 7 business days but I'm at day 7 today and haven't gotten it.

All other banks I've gotten the card in under 5 business days.

    • Got the BOM card in Hobart within 5 days

  • do eligible purchases include ATO or council rates?

  • +3

anybody received bonus Qantas points yet?I got my card mid-July, spent twice as was required, got the first statement. It is beginning of September - no extra points in my account yet. thanks

    • In the same boat as you. When I called St George to enquire, the rep just transferred me across to the a rep from Qantas, who clearly had no idea about when to expect the bonus points.. quite disappointing.

    • I assumed you haven't read the T&Cs, because if you had, the answer you seek is there.

    • +1

I got mine today. My monthly statement was processed yesterday so I assume that triggered it.

      • So did you hold the card for more than 3 months before getting the points?

        • No. It was my first statement.

  • +3

    Hi all,

I applied for this card on July 21 and was conditionally approved. I didn't hear anything for a week. I called up and they told me I had to go into a branch to verify my identity. I did that but still nothing. I called a week later and was told it is under review and I'd get a text message in the morning with the outcome. Nada. I called a week later again and was told the case has been escalated and I will hear something soon. That was a couple of weeks ago now and still nothing. What should I do? This is ridiculous never had this happen to me before. My credit score has taken a hit for this.

    • +3

I'd put in an official complaint. Demand additional bonus points.

They were a bit slow to review my application, but maybe a bit over a week. Over 6 weeks is ridiculous.

      • +1

Thank you, will try. I was thinking of threatening to lodge a complaint with the ombudsmen too, will update on how I go.

  • Anyone received their bonus points yet?

    • not me. one statement passed. maybe it will be credited after the next statement issue…

      • Same here, still waiting

        • Received after my 2nd statement of hitting the spend requirement. If you have gone 2 statements without getting it I'd definitely try and contact them.

          • @FatGPT: @thefish - Thanks for confirming.

Have the points hit your Qantas account yet?

  • I Got the Qantas points a few days after the first statement and the BOM points on the second statement
