  • what are the differences between the blade and the cruzer?

does anyone know if i can pick it up from a DSE store for theis price, or if it's online only?

    • They are the same USB drive just a different design, there's the one you see in the picture and the other one has the USB connection that slides in or out…

  • Why was your link resolving to s2d6 before?

    • I noticed this s2d6 flashed with a lot links on OZB, probably some statistics website used by OZB?

      • It is an affiliate network

    Good pen drive.

  • go with the edge, it has a higher read & write speed compared to the blade.

  • The portable 320gig hard drive i got from Staples for $35 delivered to my Mums place in Sydney and then on to me in Cairns for another $6, has put me off buying anymore thumb drives. The 2.5" hardrive is HEAPS quicker than any thumb drive i have used and has massively more space, for not too many more dollars.

Does it fit on your keyring?

Good price, but the Cruzers are sloooooooooooooooooow…

Concur, got this exact same one and it is excruciatingly slow 5mb maximum write speed. Quite bad

      • Same here and I unfortunately I have to agree. Read speeds are okay (~20MB/s) but write speeds are pretty damn slow at ~5MB/s, especially if you're copying gigs at a time.

      • teracopy brings it upto 7-8MB/s

    • Did not know this, thanks.

    • Good deal, but the seller's account is new.

That has numerous "red flags" that indicate it's shonky.

NOT from Victoria - They are drop shipping (check the postage tab carefully)

      They have no feedback

They have a store, which is technically impossible since they don't have enough feedback nor been a member long enough to open one.

The images in the listing don't match the title.

The item desciption is stolen word-for-word from other listings.

The product packaging doesn't have the Sandisk Hologram (can't recall if this series has it normally?)

      It's cheaper than normal.

Almost certainly a scam. Do not by flash memory from ebay, and if you're going to buy from reputable sellers. Even 'aussie' sellers unload the fake usb (and other) flash memory they've imported via ebay.

  • so Cruzer Edge is better than Cruzer Blade?

  • Yeah, I've got a 4GB and it is painfully slow. OK if you're not transferring data too often I suppose

    • which is kinda the point of a USB drive, a HD would be a much better for reading data

ANyways the Toshiba in Harvey Norman is $19 and has better speeds

      • What model is your Toshiba and how fast is the writing speed? I got a 16GB Toshiba last week with a big transparent slide-on cap, benchmark is 15MB on writing and 21MB on reading. I thought that's a good result and planned to buy two more but they were all gone. Another model of Toshiba comes with a normal small cap, if yours is that model, could you test if the writing speed is the same?

  • yeah good price, doesn't beat the $19 lexars from last year @ HN but still good price.. there should still be some Toshibas available @ HN for $25

    • they are $19 at my local one

      • 16GB Lexar or Toshiba from HN?

        • both

Just picked up a Cruzer Edge! Don't really need it but as some of you said, it can be useful on your keys!

also, I have been an Oz bargainer for a long time but today I became a registered member! haha so nice to talk to everyone now!

    • okay…………

    • omg hi2u :D :D :D

  • I can vouch for the durability of these things. Mine went through the washing machine and dryer and still works. Can't say I will be keeping anything important on it though…

  • In case anyone is interested I got the Edge and using CrystalDiskMark it scored

    Read: 21.03 MB/s
    Write: 2.8 MB/s

I'm really surprised that the USBs that we buy now are so slow but cheap for the size.

My old 8GB Cruzer Micro Skin is:

    Read: 30.5 MB/s
    Write: 10.3 MB/s

    (>_<)

    • I'm really surprised that the USBs that we buy now are so slow but cheap for the size.

The slow write speeds are the reason why USB flash drives are inexpensive given the size.

This is because a lot of drives these days use cheaper MLC NAND flash memory which is slower than SLC NAND.
