  • Best appliance we own. 3-4 times a week for 1.5 years. Hasn't faltered. At this price a steal. Buy

    • What’s different with turbostar?

    • What dishes do you make with this. I can only think of chicken thighs and chips…

      • Over 200 recipes in app and free recipe book included

anything you use an oven for.

Not as big but quicker and generally more even.

Lemon-roasted cauliflower for the win. (If you don't like raw cauliflower, still try this. Roasting it moderates the flavour and it ends up tasting like "savoury lemon-flavoured carb with better texture than carbs", along the lines of people who like cauliflower rice but don't like raw cauliflower.)

It is the single most common use of my air fryer - a surprisingly better TV snack than chips. (Any online recipe will likely do. Mine uses a 2:1 ratio of olive oil to lemon juice, plus garlic/salt/pepper/smoked paprika (the last bit is the trick :-) to taste. Put everything but the smoked paprika in a ziploc bag. Shake. Move cauliflower to air fryer. Dust with smoked paprika. Roast. Best dipped into hummous IMHO, but also good when eaten by itself.)

A friend also likes air fryer roasted Thai-spiced cauliflower, but the lemony one is the go for me.

Thanks for the info. I was only interested in the crispy pork belly on their website but was hesitating because I got a gas Weber to do it. Now it seems more worthy

  • Large 0.8 kg capacity ?

    • 2.2L I saw on some other website with Indian prices.

Unless its just for 1 person pay the extra for the XXL model

Bought for $228 from Bing Lee more than 2 years ago.
Simply an appliance I could not live without.
I live alone and most of my cooking is done with it. However if you're feeding 2 or more people, it's probably worthwhile to get a larger version.

  • so the difference with Philips Airfryer HD9643/17 is just size?

    edit found

  • Thanks OP.

i saw on youtube people make crispy skin pork belly with this. is that really possible?

I crisped up pork roast crackle at Christmas time when my Weber ran out of gas. Turned out beautifully.

      • This particular model, and not the XXL version?

        • ups,,,, i bought this small one already based on burtie comment lol….

        • +2

Yep, this model. I actually cut the fat into bits before I put it in though. This air fryer is the greatest kitchen appliance I've ever bought! The size is fine for my husband, toddler and I.

          • @burtie: To cook for 3 adults - Is it worth getting this model (0.8) or wait for another deal for the (1.4) model.

            • +2

@CrazyBuyer007: As a bit of an idea of size, this one can only just fit two single serve frozen pies side by side…the fryer basket is roughly 18cm x 18cm x 9.5cm high. It cooks a decent amount of hot chips, roast veg, nuggets and other snack food type stuff (I’d say 3 serves) but if you were looking to cook more substantial food, you might be better off with a bigger one? I’ve never regretted this one. It’s a great size to fit on my bench too. I never put it away!

              • @burtie: what recipe did you follow for roast pork i want to try to get cracking skin.. watching too much master chef obviously.

                • +1

@CyberMurning: I just cook the roast pork in the oven then cut the crackle off at the end, chop it up a bit and make it crispy in the air fryer. I added a fair amount of salt to it. You can definitely do a whole mini roast in it though. My mother in law does it. I also made a pork belly recipe out of a taste magazine which was great. I'll post it here if I can remember what it was.

New to looking at airfryers, and I don't understand the capacity. This is 800 g, but another brand is selling one that is "7L capacity", but I'm pretty certain I can't use the water 1 kg = 1 L conversion… Anyone have any comments regarding comparing models?

    • +1

Capacity always an issue. I heard that the philips are smaller and gets more even cook compared to larger capacity one like 10+ L

I bought the XXL one cos family member says anything other than XXL is too small for a family.

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Apparently the $70 kmart one have good reviews and it's 3.2L

      • Can vouch for Kmart one 👍

  • Damn, waited too long and missed out :-(

  • Philips air fryer is a good stuff. I bought XXL model 1 week ago from David Jones when on specials for $299 or around $290 after cashrewards.

  • Received! NSW 2170 area. Wow that's fast.
Just checking Whirlpool, people seems to be happy with $69 unbranded, but bigger air fryer from Kmart.

Damn hopefully double the price Phillips is better.
