Philips Hue Starter Kits: White Ambiance $96, Colour Ambiance $129.90 (EXP), White $99, Dimmer $32.90 (EXP) @ Bunnings

130

Great prices on all the Philips Hue Starter kits. Lowest (or just about) at Bunnings as far back as Pricehipster goes (mid Feb). (The entire Hue range is on sale to match Amazon. Most products have now reverted to normal price, except for two of the kits. There's also a new deal on for the basic bulbs.)

9.5W White Ambiance Smart LED Kit (Was $188) $96

  • Two bulbs effectively at $48.45 per bulb, plus you get a bridge and dimmer.

10W White And Colour Smart LED Kit (Was $258) $129.90 (EXPIRED)

  • Three bulbs at $43.30 each, plus a bridge.

White Smart LED Kit (Was $144) $99

  • Two bulbs, plus the bridge. Cheaper than separately buying the full price bridge and two of the on-sale bulbs ($104.75).

Smart LED Light Dimming Kit (Was $59) $32.90 (EXPIRED)

  • Just a single bulb and a dimmer.

Note that all the kits only come in E27.

Don't forget to price beat at Officeworks for an extra 5% off.

  • whats good, these with a bridge or the direct wifi like lifx?

To avoid repeating the discussion here, check out this thread on one of the other current Hue deals. (Plus search for more such discussions elsewhere.)

Basically, there are pros and cons:

      Hue

      • More expensive?
      • Rock solid connection
      • Handles more lights

      LIFX

      • Cheaper?
      • Connection issues to individual lights
      • Limited number can be connected, depending on the router

Probably similar points for other direct Wi-Fi bulbs.

      • Thanks!

Do I still need/want the bridge if I'm planning running then off a raspberry pi with a zigbee stick and Home Assistant?

        • +1

No need for a bridge. They work fine with Home Assistant.

(Not sure exactly how many lights this set up will suppor, though, as I've yet to use Home Assistant.)

  • if they are the same price with amazon, wouldn't it be cheaper to get it from amazon with all the cashback etc

    • Amazon is expired.

      • Which also means Bunnings might expire theirs for tomorrow as well.

Better get in quick! (Might be too late for the Easterners.)

Or the ones of us living in the country :-(

Did you see my question above?

          • @AncientWisdom: Oops. Sorry. I did somehow miss it. (It's been a bit crazy being a newly minted Power User on Amazon Prime Day!)

            I've replied above.
