Free Coffee with Any Reusable Cup 6/8-2/9 at 7-Eleven

8290

Just got my morning coffee from 7/11 with by keepcup and was told by the attendant that next month all coffees with a reusable cup will be free. So a whole month of free coffees if you use a reusable cup.

He didn't mention anything about it being only linked to their branded rCups, and I wasn't using one today, so doesn't look like that's the case. But maybe someone associated with the store can confirm.

Offer available only to customers filling their own reusable coffee cup made of multi-use plastic or glass and suitable for hot liquids. Make sure your reusable coffee cup is clean. Not in conjunction with any other offer. Valid to 02/09/19.

Should be unless the attendant is an arsehole.

    • -3

You're supposed to use a keep cup. It's the whole purpose of this promotion.

      • No it isn’t you moron

7Eleven sell and market their own reusable called the ‘rCup’ which, if anything, you’d expect them to want you to use.

There is no requirement it be either.

Did you read OP at all???

  • +2

Just confirmed, This promotion will start on 6th of August till 2nd September and need to finaliz free transaction at counter.

    • That was gonna be one of my questions. I was hoping you could just fill up the cup then walk straight out.

  • +3

Got confirmation from my friend who works at 7 Eleven:
"You can use either of the following: Any brand of reusable cup or mug (including those rubbber-glass mugs) OR a thermos"

    • +1

      I have a pretty big thermos :)

  • +1

Seems like 7-11 is price matching my office.

    • -1

Lol. Same price at office works.

  • Bet they will set the 'coffee per shot' setting to absolute minimum…

  • -1

The hobos will be out in force, i feel for the employees …

  • Now just gotta figure out cheapest place to buy decent reusable "big" cup :)

    • +3

      Probably Kmart

  • Ooh yay I can use my free keepcup I got from Jamaica Blue!
Also I wonder how many times I'll get "free regular coffee" vouchers because the machines are out

  • I only like the iced coffees at 7-eleven - perhaps if I brought my own ice I could get one?

    • +1

I don't think they inspect your cup before you fill it.

    • -7

You might be able to get away with grabbing the iced coffee cup, pour the ice into your reusable cup then fill it up.

      • +1

Or just take a Dare Iced coffee off the shelf and pour it into the reusable cup. I'm sure it's not illegal or anything.

        • -2

I had a feeling I would be negged and it’s not something I would be game enough to do myself. Just seemed like a technicality because you’re not taking the iced coffee cup out of the store. But then people will say that if you grab a packet of chips, eat it in the store and walk out is that not stealing.

          • +2

@melbourne guy: I wouldn't even say it's up for debate, no matter how slippery tongued you are. To get the ice from an iced coffee cup, don't you need to peel open the lid, thus breaking the packaging? At that point, you've purchased the product already. Additionally, the $2 you pay for an iced coffee isn't for just the coffee. You obviously pay for the cup AND its contents

  • People will feel guilted into buying something else while there (be it fuel or food).

    • +6

I won’t. I literally just walked up the street for a free coffee (fuel lock reward) from 7-Eleven and didn’t buy anything else.

    • I’ve claimed freebies on their own before with no issues but usually I am buying something else anyway (usually coffee or fuel)

    • Never have felt guilted for getting a coffee only there.. free or otherwise.

  • LMAO IMAGINE BEING IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA WITHOUT 7ELEVEN #CANTRELATE

  • i buy prob 40 cups a month. Twice a day for 20 days

    • +1

      cool.

    • and if that was normal coffee from a cafe you'd have paid $80 more. $960 a year. No doubt that's going to something you value more than coffee! :-D

      • But it's a whole level down from a good coffee shop.

But still nice. And for a buck definitely much better than 1/4 as good as that from a coffee shop.

        • +1

Yea definitely a step down from coffee shop, but still better than watered down crap from office machines or caltex coffee.

  • +2

I only ever buy the $1 cups…but when I went googling for this promo on the web I found this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM-oMVi1gZ4

    $3 cup fits into a $2 cup.
$2 cup pretty much fits into the $1 cup.

    • from the comments

Why not try pressing the $3 button and fill a $ 2 cup. It should overflow

      • froth. Froth will do that. There shouldn't be that much froth in a coffee anyway.

    • +3

If $3 cup fits into $2 cup and $2 cup fits into $1 cup, shouldn't the $3 cup fits into $1 cup?

      • genius

        • +2

even more genius is putting in two or three 'expresso's' then filling it up with milk. So you get a triple shot, more taste and all for the low price of $1.

          • @Lv80: tried this and they made me pay extra. I wouldn't recommend.
also this is all creative theft. you people are pretty abhorrent.

            • @Sage: I've done similar in full view of the employees before without issue, although the situation wasn't quite the same. I bought a hot chocolate and added in a shots of coffee and milk instead of water.

            • +4

              @Sage: https://goat.com.au/coffee/the-official-word-from-7-11-says-…

“The company policy is that you will be charged as per the cup size and not by what is in your cup. Therefore you are entitled to your two shots of coffee at no extra cost”.

          • @Lv80:

            expresso's

            Stopped reading here

  • +7

Incidentally there should be less 7-11 coffee cups rubbish on the streets around stores

So thats a 👍 for the environment

    • Just paid $8 for a keep cup cap replacement. FML RRP on their cups are like $25.

It's more like a fashion statement though

      • +1

At least the keep cup design is practical.

Looking at fashion statement - look at frank green cups lol, so difficult to clean

        • yea, thats the exact same reason i didnt want a thermos even though one can be had for $10

  • Anyone got any confirmation if it's August 1st or August 6th start-date? The promo images don't seem to give any details of the start…

    • When we went yesterday, staff member said next Thursday which would be 8th.

    • 6th!

  • +2

Went to 711 the guy know nothing about that offer.

    • Thank you. I guess, looking at the 7-Eleven Fuel app, that all the current offers are valid until 5/8/2019. So in the absence of any other data (no launch yet etc.), I think that it is probably logical to deduce 6/8/2019 as the start date, when the previous promos close.

Keeping my supply of KeepCups handy, ready for launch…

      • +2

I'm just bracing for the wave of negs that come if it turns out not to be happening… :-S

        • That's life as an OzBarginer… Living on the cutting edge…. I'm sure they'll come through with the deal. They've got the promo images uploaded in the image store on the 7-Eleven site, after all!

          • @z z: It could be once per account on the app though. That’s my concern.

    • wait until the offer is actually available.

  • Dude only free coffee for the $1 coffee serve and limited of course to one mug per person per day.

    • So you got free coffee? Where

    • Don't see how they could practically enforce a $1 size only rule.

      • they watch what type of coffee you get. anything else is stealing.
they might not notice, but in the same way they might not notice you slipping other goods into your jacket pockets.

  • +1

I'm thinking it will be in the Offers section of the App, where you'll get a code to scan to get the free coffee in your keepcup. So, chances are everyone will get one code per account. Unless they refreshes it everyday during the month.

    • May be correct - it doesn't specify that you can get a coffee per day or anything, just mentions the validity period. I am happy to be proved very wrong though :)

  • Do you think 711 is trying to get us all addicted, so that we come back next month and pay for our hit.

    • -5

they're trying to get people to use keep cups.
      it's not complicated.

      • +2

Well it seems to have been pretty complicated for you… Glad to see you were eventually able to work out the actual purpose of this promotion though.

Is your condescending attitude and tone really necessary? After reading each of your comments on this thread, each has been more demeaning than the last. It’s really not necessary mate. Check yourself.

  • dam i went to a 7/11 believing it started on the 1 August lady said it starts on the 5th Aug and let me have a free coffee.

    • Haha, just did the same. No free coffee for me though :(

He said the 6th when I asked, looks like main post has been updated and now reflects this.

  • -6

it's amazing something worth a dollar gets almost 600 positive votes.
seriously, the effort to go and get the coffee should be a greater factor in deciding to get it than the minuscule saving.

    • If you drink 2 coffees a day, 20 working days in a month, that's $40 saved

      • +3

But if you normally buy at a fancier coffee shop at say $4 each, aren’t you saving $120? ((40 x $4 would normally spend) minus $40 you spend at 7-Eleven)

    • In my job we stop at 7/11 or Shell or Maccas once or twice a night. Just because this deal isn't for you doesn't mean it's not good.

  • I did not read the updated post (still thinking is August) and when to a shop today. The staff says it will start tomorrow, but have to use their reusable cup, not any reusable cup. End up paying $1 for the coffee in my ANZ reusable cup.

For those looking for free reusable cup, try your bank. I have ANZ and CBA.

    • " but have to use their reusable cup, not any reusable cup"

Just the attendant's opinion or actual T&C?

      • +1

        Just the attendant.

      • Yes, I believe is the attendant's opinion.

  • +1

Got mine this morning, confirmed with the attendant that you can get any size.

    • +3

Yep, showing up in the app as a in store promotion banner ad.

  • +2

got mine this morning, the attendants had no idea, after looking at the offer on my phone they just said all good and off i went.

    • +1

My local had posters and promos on the TV.

    • My local (acted) oblivious to the offer when i asked them a couple days ago, and today they had the big banner ads on tv. Shorter than expected lines at the machines though.

  • +2

They didn't give a free coffee in a thermos today. Said it had to be a reusable cup.

    • I didnt know thermos was meant to be single use? I've been re-using mine ;P

      • They're just going by the letter of the law (the promo ad terms and conditions)… "made of plastic or glass".

I guess metal thermos are out, as are ceramic-looking Keep Cups. So they have to look 'plasticy' or glass-like. Hmmmmm.

(After all, the promo is ultimately to get you to buy the 7-Eleven re-usable cup, right?)

PS Got my 1st fill today. Had to show the advert first in the app, and the attendant read the T's and C's, at first saying I had to use their cup… Then he backed down, and said "ok, go for it"

  • Can confirm working at Vardys Road Blacktown, and Evans Road Rooty Hill

    • +1

By saleable condition we mean that the item hasn’t been opened or used, is still in its original packaging and all manuals, packaging and accessories are included.

      Link

      • But if you wash it (and haven't dropped or scratched it) how can they tell? It doesn't seem to have packaging.

        • +1

          It’ll smell like coffee.

          • +1

@sween64: Everything will smell like coffee after a month of this 7 Eleven promotion.

  • Checkout chick even reminded me this one goes on for the entire month, and apparently it's for any size of coffee.

    • Checkout chick even reminded me this one goes on for the entire month

Yeah it normally happens every 28 days.

  • +3

Artarmon (on Pacific Hwy) and then also the one at train station both have signage up. I simply filled up and nodded at the checkout operator as I left.

  • -2

Can you get a hot chocolate instead?

    • maybe if you sneakily hide the hot chockee cup inside your keep cup, and fill with hot water, and close the lid, but that's theft, like wage theft

      • +1

Think it cancels out the whole “reduce paper cup wastage”-thing, doesn’t it?

  • -6

Rather pay a dollar and not taint my cup with their burnt poison liquid!

    • +4

      Good. More for us then.

  • 7-11 r on roll, so much revenue to be made.

    • +1
      1. Give away free coffee
      2. ???
      3. Profit

      I'm not seeing it…

      • +2

??? = Tempt you to fill up or buy other stuff while you're already there.

        • +1

No one's tempted from my office - we are in, fill up, and out again ;)
