  • Non-limited edition?

  • Nice price, but I'm going to wait for Steam personally.

Shaun1, all preorders are limited edition.

    Also:

To everyone who has managed to buy from US Steam etc

Buy it from US Steam when it comes out or US Origin. Its $59.99 USD, which is cheaper then this.

    • Why wait? It's a $3.45 saving if you go the steam option; I'd spend less on a bloody hamburger. And you can resell a physical product ;) also what's the deal with limited edition? (as in why would someone want a non-limited edition? No offence to Shaun1, but is that a failure to understand that ltd ed is probably better in most cases?)

      • …….

Preordering now just limits getting it cheaper in the future, why would you want to do that?

You won't get to play sooner.

The majority of people prefer to play on Steam, me included.

Limited edition means you get back to karkand because you preorder, meaning buy it 1 day before release and you are fine.

        • Why are there 2 options to pre-order (Limited & Standard)?

        • yeah and for pc you can't resell. I'd get it for steam aswell.

      • where do you buy your hamburgers?

        • nandos two for one

      • You're unlikely to be able to sell your physical copy, I imagine the CD-Key will be bound to either your master EA account or your steam account.

    • Dont hold your breath waiting for it on Steam now that EA are pushing Origin.com

  • FYI this deal came in an email from Mwave. Deal lasts until Midday tomorrow (Thursday) or while stocks last.

As to getting it on Steam, is it going to be available there or has it been pulled from Steam to be offered exclusively through EA's Origin? Would love to know the answer to this as I would prefer to buy it on Steam, but $60 is a pretty good price for preorder regardless.

    • It should be through Steam as well, I'm not too well versed in Steam practices so I'm not sure if the limited edition will be available through them or if it will be just the standard. Origin just offers some exclusive content for some games. If this question derives from the Crysis 2 no longer being on Steam issue, that was due to the updated terms from Valve which placed restrictions on Crytek and EA that other distributors did not have, so it was removed from Steam. As is my understanding from articles I've read.

  • The standard edition will be sold on release day.

Anyone selling the game knows this, so why not offer it for sale before release day, its not like it will make a difference.

Therefore they can sell both copies

    why? because they can.

Note that anyone selling the standard edition is pulling it from their ass. EA could decide they are only selling limited edition, nobody actually knows for sure but stores just want to make maximum money.

mcrat, EA confirmed that it will be going to 3rd party digital distribution places, so we can only assume it will.

In the past they wait until closer till release to milk the money they make from Origin

    • Good to know, think I'll wait for the Steam version (and then go through the rigmarole of getting it gifted from the US store :/ )

Frds, I got an email from Mwave. I am not a rep. & this deal ends midday tomorrow. I am not sure about limited edition or standard edition. It seems standard from poster.
Well, I think this is good deal for PS3 and Xbox owners. As it seems EB, the game & all other shops will sell in $80-90 when it releases. So, it's better to buy in $60 & then once you finish the game, you can easily sell it for $50 within a month.

  • Thanks. bought one.
    when is this game released?

also, can anyone confirm that it is AUS PAL.. not UK PAL?

    • +1

      Oct 25th afaik

  • If you can wait a week or two, PC atleast is cheaper to buy from the UK…that is what I will be doing!!

  • Just preordered my ltd edition through HN for $77. I thought that was a pretty good deal. At least I get to pick it up when the store opens.

Been waiting so damn long for this!!!!!!!!!

  • This is very cheap for the PS3 Australian Stock.

Cheapest AUS Price on GameCafe by almost $20!

Okay, going to attempt to clear up some Limited/Standard version issues. EA has started doing this a lot lately as have some other publishers in their own way. SO when the game releases the first stock to hit all stores will be a 'Limited Edition' With extra bits and pieces, once this stock is cleared through, any future stock sent out is just a 'Standard' version. Bad Company 2 did it, as did Crysis 2, NFS Shift 2 and Hot Pursuit, Masters 12 for PS3, Dead Space 2 for PS3, etc. It's basically another way to get you to get the game day one and get it new rather than pre-owned. No matter where you pre-order Battlefield 3 you will get the Limited version and it will cost you no more than the standard, stay away from anywhere that tries to charge extra. Assuming this is the Australian release, it is a really good price.

    • Mate I really hope what you say is correct, because it will make this a pretty good deal : )

I noticed on GAME's site that the LE has a slightly different cover, and yet you can preorder both, for the same price:

      http://www.game.com.au/search?search=Battlefield%203

Others like Ozgameshop have different pricing and covers:

      http://www.ozgameshop.com/search/Battlefield+3

      The Battlefield website itself says:

"Anyone who pre-orders Battlefield 3 will receive our first themed expansion pack at no extra charge"

"To receive Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand at no extra charge, all you need to do is pre-order Battlefield 3."

      http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/1/limited-edition

I plan on calling Mwave tomorrow to confirm, and will post back.

      Tali, one problem.

While I know EB, and any other trustworthy shop will do the right thing and give us limited edition from preorders no matter what.

There is nothing stopping a shop specifically waiting for regular stock to give to people who purchased the regular game.

I can't think of any other reason to have both games on their website.

Nearly all shops sell limited edition only though, so just purchase that.

    • Another thing I need cleared up is; if I import a copy, will I be able to use the Back to Karkland DLC with an Aus Battlefield Account or will It be region locked - meaning I'd have to create a UK account?

      Thanks

  • Not worth it guys, you don't get the special op pre-order weapons! Only buy from stores that EA have made deals with before hand to rip you off.

    • +1

Just to clear that up. Other stores will get the bonus it just hasn't been announced who or where.

Also everyone will get the unlocks eventually. It isnt a matter of never getting the unlocks.

      • Really? So they changed it? Cause last I heard these were exclusives that could never be gotten else-where. And they actually were intended to be in the game, but they pulled them out to make them special offers.

        • It was either changed or not explained well to start with.

Either way, they have clarified that the physical warfare pack will be unlocked for everyone at some point after release. People that buy from whatever shop offered that bonus will have a period of exclusive use.

        • Official explanation/clarification on Physical Warfare Pack and LE Maps.
          http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/arch…

  • Can anyone ACTUALLY confirm that this includes the Back to Karkand DLC for console owners?…

  • last time i checked mwave does uk stock not aus…
and "COMPATIBLE WITH ALL AUSTRALIAN CONSOLES" kinda gives it away.

  • would be more helpful if you put the price in the title.

  • +2

OK - from the horse's mouth:

    Me:

    Hi,

I have a few questions about Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 (and PS3 / PC) that you are selling…

Is it the Limited Edition, which includes Back to Karkand content?

Also, is this an Australian version of the game?

    Thanks ; )

    Mwave:

This is the standard version and all games we sell are for AUS consoles.

    Me:

Thanks. I understand it will work on AUS consoles, but is it actually a local copy, or from the UK or somewhere else?

    Mwave:

All copies we get can be for any supplier in the world, I cannot confirm where this one is from, it will most likely be local because of the timeframe in which we are getting however it may still be from elsewhere

    Me:

OK cheers. So just to confirm about the Karkand content, on the Battlefield website it says "Anyone who pre-orders Battlefield 3 will receive our first themed expansion pack at no extra charge" and "To receive Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand at no extra charge, all you need to do is pre-order Battlefield 3."

    Mwave:

That has nothing to do with us as this is through there site, thats right

  • if this was the limited edition the picture would be different and it would be in the title like it is here.

    http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/ps3/battlefield-3-limit…

  • Shame we dont know if this is a UK or AUS version

  • Probably won't be local version, I just ordered from Zavvi with a 'we missed you' 10% off making it $51.xx.

  • +1

If you dont mind waiting a week for PC thehut has it for $45AUD

    http://www.thehut.com/games/platforms/pc/battlefield-3-limit…

I keep getting sent 10% off codes as well so i assume they are not hard to find. That makes it $40 AUD for the PC version delivered. Sounds like a bargain to me.

  • The poster sounds like a rep. And the poster also doesn't sound like english is his (or her) first language. I don't feel like this is going to be Aussie stock.

  • Wouldnt the UK version have the 18+ stuff? or are the overseas and AUS stuff the same in that dept?

    • Not sure what you mean.

Like L4d when we had a crap version? Or are you just talking about the label?

      • Not sure how it is in L4D but I remember it happeneing with GTA series the company having to reduce the graphical violence for the AUS version to be able to classify it under MA15+ instead of an R18+ lable. What i'm asking is would the AUS version of this have the graphical violence reduced to again fit under the australian MA15+ rating whereas in UK and other countries they have an R18+ rating that they can have more graphical violence/scenes/etc?

        • I doubt it - BF3 is nowhere near as violent as L4D2, GTA, etc.

        • I cant see that happening at all. No BF has ever had ratings issues here.

        • +1

So the L4D2 game I now purchased at EB (was half price) has had the graphical content reduced?

  • -1

Will the DLC be region locked????????????????????????????????
