  • How's this for Ryzen 3600?

    • +1

Timing looks high, 18-21-21. Not sure what that translates to in every day + casual gaming usage though.

        Crap.

        • Care to give a quick tutorial on speed vs timing? Speed is easy to understand but when you add in timing (obs less is better) but how far to trade off speed vs timing when you are after value?

      • The timings are high because these sticks are only specced at 1.2v.

With 1.35v, it should be able to do 16-18-18, but it's hard to tell without knowing what ICs they use. I have a feeling they use Micron Rev. E, as Kingston also has a 3466 19-23-23 1.25v kit, which uses Micron Rev. E.

  • After some fast 3600Mhz ram with at least C15.
    Anyone seen any deals?

Micron E-die, 3000 CL15, then overclock it. Should be able to find it cheaper than this (non) deal.

      • Thanks

Edit: As crazy as it sounds, searched everywhere couldnt find anyone selling it.
Can you please point me in the right direction?

        • +1

Micron is the RAM chip manufacturer, not the brand.

Ballistix models with AES in the model number are a decent starting point. 3000 CL15 and 3200 CL16 are where the value is, and they seem to be still under $130 on Newegg, but have gone on sale a few times on Amazon and there for under $110.

    • If you want 3600mhz on the box it seems to be quite a bit more expensive than 3200mhz based on my perusal of eBay and Amazon over the past couple of weeks. 3200mhz seems to be the sweet spot in pricing (marginally more expensive than 3000mhz, quite a bit cheaper than 3466mhz/3600mhz).

Yeah did a bit of research on the Micron E-die ram as @jasswolf suggested. Most people either hit 3400MHz or higher fairly easily.
Can be had for about $136 at the moment for the 3000MHZ CL15

  • If I have a mobo that supports 2133 Mhz RAM, will cards with more than 2133 Mhz (2400 Mhz, 2666 Mhz, 3000 Mhz, etc) work?

    • yes

  • Good ram for most people, better off spending money for faster cpu/gpu than ram.
