I got it last year (and every year before that). I also shop often in the city.

      • Hmm.. Not sure how AMEX determines who gets the offer. I shop nearly everyday in the city too.

  • Disappointing. Made the effort to register for an online account, but the offer is not available for me to sign up to.
I can sign into my online account, click the link, but it doesn't save the offer for me :(

  • I have the AMEX Explorer , Velocity Platinum and DJ cards.
And i received the Vogue offers in every card.
I am surprised to learn that not everyone received the offers.

By the way, with regards to the AMEX Lounge in Melbourne, what sort of food do they serve there ?

    • +1

      Finger food like sushi

  • just a question, going with a few friends, after guests, we are one credit card short, do they check strictly, thinking of giving one of my spare cards to friend

    • +1

Should be fine as long as each has an amex card

  • +1

For those that were unlucky to not have the offer on their cards, maybe they’ll have those tap to save offer to card machines like they did last year; we’ll need a Melburnian to report back if this is the case when they go to VAEFNO on Thursday night

    • I wasn't aware of that last year, Kerfuffle, thanks. It could be very handy as the offer bypassed my supp cards. Did they have a machine in both Melb and Syd last year, in the AMEX Lounge?

      • +1

Sydney yes. Melbourne no idea as I didn't go

    • Was the machine available from the morning/noon or after 430 when they opened the lounge?
Also was it easy/quick to save the offer through the machine? I've got three cards and not very good with a machine..

      • I don't know because:
        i) I was working at DJs and last year was the first time they started the event at 10 rather than 5, so as a result, everything was queuey and there was only so many times I could duck out of work on the day
ii) I didn't need to use the machine to save the offer to the card as I already had the offers saved.

As a Melburnian, you'll have to tell the rest of us, what with the event being this Thursday.

        • +2

I'll visit the lounge at lunch time and report back!

          • @tyvod: The lounge won't be open at lunchtime, but if the machines are there (they were outside the lounge last year), I presume you'll be able to use them at lunchtime

            • +1

@kerfuffle: Went there at around 1030.
The machine was there but it wasnt turned on (I tried tapping my card and the screen but it didnt turn on).
Guess we'll need to wait until 430
              Image

              • @tyvod: Thanks for the update; much appreciated!

              • @tyvod: will this machine be there only for today? and Can I activate the offer on the card through Apply Pay or do i need the physical card?

                • @avitherock: Since the Amex lounge is only for today, I'm guessing it will be there for today only(?).
I'm not sure about Apple Pay. I would just bring a physical card to be safe.

        • +1

          works now

      • +1

Can use Google pay to save the offer via the machine. Also able to enter the card number manually. People walking around with iPads who can save the offer to your card as well.

  • It's so strange this year, I got the offer on my primary but none of my supps. Usually I use the whole lot on VFNO but I wonder if it's cause the supps have no regular activity other than big amex cashback offers.

“If the offer does not appear within the Amex App or your Online account, you can save the offer at the event via the Amex Offer tap-to-save kiosks, situated beside the American Express Lounge”

    • +1

Good to know. I'll be there with bells on!

I reckon they really stuffed up this promo. Why have this be a targeted offer when it wasn't for previous years? Don't they want us to use the offers? Can't use the offer if it doesn't show up on our accounts….

    • That is very peculiar… why not let cardholders just save this beforehand like previous years?

      • To make you actually attend the event, I suppose.

    • Do I have to bring the physical card to do this or can I use Samsung Pay ?

    • Thanks for the heads up

  • Has anyone purchased Westfield gift cards yet?

    • No, because the offer doesn't start until the 29th …

  • I might be wrong. But from memory, I think both Westfield gift cards are treated as one merchant for credits ? Can anyone please confirm

    WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS
    188 PITT ST
    SYDNEY

    WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS
    450 GEORGE ST
    SYDNEY

    • definitely two merchants with two $20 credit back last year

      • Yes that was my experience as well.

    • -3

Where did you see these merchants on the website? I couldn't see them

Edit: Nevermind, found them under Lifestyle

  • Sorry dumb question, but i can't work it out.
It's got pics of cent and plat card as eligible

Are other cards available to get into the event?

I got explorer and plat edge, which i understand is not a plat card

    • Yes, you just can only bring one guest per card. The only lounge you won't be able to get into is the David Jones American Express lounge inside the women's store.

      • ta, once again,
just randomly got asked which cards are valid , and couldnt work it out!

its a pity for melbournites we cant take advnatge of Westfield cards

  • With Sydney Vongue fashion night being on the 5th Sept, does that mean I can't use the offer until then or can I use it beforehand as Melbourne starts today 29th Aug?

    • It's in the OP in bold …

    • You can use the offer now or at least once the shops have opened…..

  • +2

Just got the Westfield gift card at Sydney Westfield. ID required, $2.95 fee. Also can tap on instead of physical card

    • Can you do split payment on higher denomination or only $50 cards?

      • +1

Has to be split payments of $50+ $2.95 fee

        • So you can do 100 + 2.95 using 2 cards?

  • +3

All done. Westfield didn't allow split payments (as expected), but they were pretty efficient with multiple cards (had someone pre-checking ID for people in the queue, etc). Myer had no issues with split payment, just make sure you tell them you're paying by card so they don't put in a cash transaction.

    • did you get the amex redeem email?

      • Yep, got emails for all transactions instantly.

        • Thanks

    • but they were pretty efficient with multiple cards (had someone pre-checking ID for people in the queue, etc)

do they really do that now? i had no issue in the past using 2 AMEX in 1 go (split payments obviously).

  • +2

All done, despite the fact you have to buy the Westfield cards in lots of $50, I found them to be more efficient than previous years. TBH don't mind losing the $2.95 per transaction to avoid the confusion/ mess

    • Hi Krazek can you see if the amex lounge has the machine to save offer

      • The lounge hasn't even been constructed yet; it has to come from Melbourne first.

    • So you cant do split payment at all for early bird?

      • No they have a clipboard that they will show you which says something to the effect of "AMEX have told us you cannot split payments on one card"

        • +1

Might need to ask AMEX to confirm why this is so!

          • @ClaudeVL: I would ask Westfield as well via e-mail to see what they say

      • +1

Correct, they do not allow split payments for Westfield GC. You have to pay $52.95 for each card.

        • +2

or buy $47.05 +$2.95 fee and paid $50?

          • +1

@SnoozeAndLose: I wouldn't do that. They had a stack of $50 GCs ready to go, you'd just piss them off if you try to buy multiple cards for weird amounts.

          • -1

@SnoozeAndLose: They have never allowed cents for Westfield gift cards, so you'd have to do $48, and they've said no to that in previous years.

This isn't our first time around.

            • @Plutonus: We always buy $47.05 in Sydney, no issue and no question asked.

              • @andylch: Then I guess it's another classic example of Westfield consistency.

In any case it makes no real difference as the fee is always $2.95 and you can spend the balance of the gift card.

Edit: that's probably a bit vague. The net gain is always $17.05, whether the gift card is $47.05, $50 or $500.

              • @andylch: No issue on Friday, but today there was a stupid stubborn staff who refused to do it.

            • @Plutonus: The first time they allow this. My first time was three years ago

  • Just bought GC at sephora, but havent got the cashback email yet?
Have others been getting the CB rmails instantneously. Only concern is I bought GC…so..

    • Don't see them in the list?

      • Yeah, Sephora isn't in this year. You goofed up …

        • oh no…wt a…can you return GC and ask for refund?

          • @maverick1: I highly doubt it. Do let us know how you go if you try to though. Sorry for the bad news

            • +6

@kerfuffle: yup - kicked back..no refund..great start to my VAFENO…but the missus would still be happy…

  • damn still haven't got this offer for my cards

    • You'll have to go to the event and use the kiosks to save the offer to your card then

  • anyone know if the kiosks are up and running yet for those who did not get the offer?

    • For Sydney, no.

      • +1

MELBOURNE just checked machine is there but won’t be turned on until 4.30

        • +1

MELBOURNE just passed by, it's turned on but facing to the queue line. I tried and it worked and now I got my offer. cheers

          • @y8j31: hi, can you kindly advise, whats with the kiosk? is it just saving the offer of 3 transaction spend $50 get back $20?

or do the kiosk comes with any other offer? or something ???

            • @langitbiru:

is it just saving the offer of 3 transaction spend $50 get back $20?

              Yes

  • No Westfield in Melbourne, where do people spend apart from Myer?

  • Does Myer still offer Coles Myer giftcards?

    • Yes

    • Affirmative.

    • I just realised that I bought the myer one, not the coles myer :( they put all myer near the registers

  • +1

Noticed that Myer Melbourne has itunes gift cards.

    • Google Play too (last year at least; I used my friend's Amex to grab some)

      • I couldn't find any Google Play on a quick search today. Asked a staff member and they thought they didn't have them either, but wasn't 100% sure.

        • Should clarify, this was Sydney

          • @Plutonus: I last saw them at the Myer Hub quite some time ago. I'll be in the city soon, so will have a squiz

          • @Plutonus: I can confirm that there are $20 and $30 Google Play cards, as well as Coles Myer cards (amongst other gift cards like Ticketmaster) at the Myer Hub in the Sydney City store

            • @kerfuffle: Cool thanks. They told me to check electronics which only had iTunes gift cards.

              A mission for tomorrow.
