Suggestions: AMD Gaming Computer

Hi guys,

I was looking after an AMD setup:

AMD Ryzen 5-2600 $199.00
ASRock B450M Pro4-F AM4 mATX Motherboard $100.00
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory Black $149.00
Gigabyte Radeon AORUS RX580AORUS-8GD 8GB RX 580 PCI-E VGA Card $294.00
Corsair CX650 (CP-9020122-AU) 650Watt 80Plus $95.00
Samsung 970 EVO PLUS (MZ-V7S500BW) 500GB M.2 SSD Solid State Drive $159.00

But I ended buying a Lenovo Legion Y540 with

i7 9th
16GB
512GB WD Black NVMe
RTX2060 6GB

Worst decision. Less than 2h after unboxing it, the GPU died. I am waiting for the refund process now.

I have 2k to spend from which I would like to build this gaming computer and what is left, buy a light and cheap laptop.
I don't need monitor, I have a Samsung QLED 65" Q7FN 4K

OBS: I already have an Xbox One S but keyboard + mouse are still the best.

Please, let me know what is your suggestion :)

Thanks

I don't think an RX580 is going to go well with a 4K 65" TV - That's a lot of display to power.

    • 1080p will be more than enough. I don't expect to play in 4K otherwise I will have to spend a lot and have a low FPS haha

      • 1080p on 65"

how far are you gonna sit ?

        • hahaha not far way and not too close.
I already have a table connect to it so I can watch Popcorn movies and everything is just perfect at 1080p
It is the same distance I play with my XboX.
If that makes you feel better, Ryzen 3600 + RX 5700 can run 1440p with an amazing AVG FPS :) Just checked a couple of reviews and I am happy with those 2 in practice.

          • @ratoloko: I've got Ryzen 3600 and RTX2060, easily runs PUBG at 2k with ultra settings. Getting avg 70-80 fps.

Now is a good time to buy:
    Midrange
    CPU r5-3600
    GPU rx-5700
    RAM 2x8GB
…then in 2021, add another 2x8GB RAM later, upgrade the CPU to a r7-4900X, and swap the GPU for a GTX-3070.

    There's also the Low-end
    CPU r5-1600
    GPU rx480
    RAM 4x4GB
….but doesn't seem as "good value".

    And then the High-end
    CPU r9-3900x
    GPU GTX 2080-Super
    RAM 2x16GB
…..and it's definitely not good value

    • Your mid-range seems fair enough. I will have a look on its performance out there :)

    Ryzen 5 3600 - $288.15
    ASRock B450M Pro4-F AM4 mATX Motherboard - $115
    G.Skill Rivjaws V 16GB 2x8 - $106
Radeon RX 5700 - $653 OR $559 at Amazon with Prime
    intel 660p 5125gb M.2 SSD - $87.20
PSU and case of your choice - $200

    Total: $1400

    HP 14" FHD Laptop with 2500U, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD - $639

    Grand total: $2039

I kind of assume you have Prime/eBay plus for some of them. They have free trials so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'd personally just grab a chromebook or something if anything. But if you want a semi-decent laptop you gotta spend >$500

Thanks for the reply. I would just change the laptop brand. HP seems to have some crazy hardware issues from time to time lol
Those values are not tooooo different from MSY so I would prefer going there instead of waiting hahaha
      Appreciate your time :)

Yeah it was the first laptop deal I saw that was under $700. I'm also not a fan of HP.

My current PC was built from a range of OzB deals. It took about 3 months to actually start building because I ordered each thing individually lol. But I did save a few hundred doing it.

        • hahahaha lol
I kinda have problems waiting for things to be delivered. I was born on anxiety day :)

    asrock pro4f is 3+3 vrms

you don't need 3ph/heatsink on soc if you're not getting apu

better to go for other boards with 4ph cpu vrms with larger heatsinks , even if nothing on soc vrms is fine

For laptops def check out being Lee's eBay sale. They got some pretty decent laptops for around 800 and then they have a 20% off. The 5700 can be found on any for 477 on sale so that saves you another 100.
