that orange samurai is tempting, but i think we have see non limited edition samurais cheaper.

  • +2

    very large watches 44-45mm

    i daily a 42 and i find it large

    • +3

It's all relative. Samurai and Solar Tuna have a short lug to lug under 48mm, so although the dials are large, they don't wear large on wrist.

    • The Turtle and Samurai both look much smaller in person than the numbers suggest, if you like them try them on at Myers or somewhere.

    • Surprisingly though, my black samurai is 44 (i think), feels smaller than my 42. I have a thin wrist that makes 40 look small while 44 + huge, samurais are good fit.

looks fine on me, but i guess i have man wrists. its for sure big on a girls wrist.

      • This chick says no.

  • can someone please recommend a good seiko or citizen watch with leather band? Which one is the best bang for your buck?

    • +2

I think the Seiko Presage range is gorgeous, a bit flashy for some though. They start at about $400.

      • That's a great suggestion. Presage range is gorgeous. Alternatively, you can get SARB033 or SARB035 and change bracelet to a leather strap.

        • Presage range is gorgeous.

    • +1

You can always pick a watch you like and swap the band to leather.

      • yep, as it’s very expensive to buy the stainless band later on if you want genuine.

      • where do normally peoples buy the leather band from?

        • Depends on your budget. Price def goes up with quality. Personally, I don't wear them. You can start with Cheapestnatostraps and AliExpress (read reviews). After that the price goes up and you might be looking at Holbens or Panatime.

        • My go to store for leather straps, haven’t been disappointed so far.
Have had some ok results from aliexpress but it’s been more misses than hits for me lately.

          Really great quality.

        • CNS get my vote - good quality and cheap. Post is pretty slow though.

i went with a grand seiko, you should probably get one too.

i went with a grand seiko, you should probably get one too.

Excellent choice. Note that it is 10x the price of a presage.

Nav2k should hand back their ozb card if they don't.

Few notes from a seiko samurai owner:

    • seiko caliber 4R35 is wildly inaccurate, +45/-35 seconds A DAY (figures from manufacturer), basically you will need to adjust it every two-three days
    • they are heavy, very heavy and quite bulky
    • I agree these are big watches… like 150gm? 200gm?

I disagree that the 4r35 is that inaccurate.

I have bought from these guys before but a lot of the stores put huge accuracy variances so they dont have to deal with Seiko's admittedly average QC.

I have everything from the 7s26 to the 4r35 and they are generally -/+ 5 to 7 secs which is fine by me.

They aint like my Swiss ETA ones in the -/+3 but they're fine for non dailys.

I have heard seiko horror stories of 25 secs plus which is non usable to me.

        I agree these are big watches… like 150gm? 200gm?

Oh, I don't know, but they feel super heavy. I own quite a few bulky G-shocks, none of them are even close.

I disagree that the 4r35 is that inaccurate.

Well, anyone can google 'Samurai 4R35 accuracy' and make their own conclusions.

I have heard seiko horror stories of 25 secs plus which is non usable to me.

That's my case - roughly -1 minute each 2 days.

Guys on watchuseek forum even discovered that if you keep them overnight in different position, it may help a little (most common solution is on their side, crown down).

        • I think comparing the weight of any stainless steel cased diver to a G-Shock is always going to result in it feeling heavy. Depending on the amount of links removed, you should expect the weight to be around 160gm or so. There is always the option of changing out to a strap to lighten the load.

      • I've had similar results from my 4R35 if your accuracy is that bad you can always get it regulated too

        • Do I need to bring them to the Seiko service center for this or any decent watchmaker can do it?

          • @corvusman: Any decent watchmaker should do it their are even videos on how to regulate Seiko's on YouTube

          • @corvusman: Yes, when I was a kid, and watches were wind up, everyone used to do it. My memory of it is very similar to adjusting the speed of an alarm clock - just applying or relieving pressure on the main spring. The only difference with a watch is removing the back; autos must be similar.

        • I’m going to have to get mine regulated by the looks of things. It’s losing about 2-3 seconds each hour. Not good enough for a brand new product really.

    • +1

Wish I’d read this before buying one last night!! That’s really bad inaccuracy.

      • +2

I would argue that is a fairly uncommon occurrence. I have got 8 watches in my collection with the same movement and the biggest deviation is +12 seconds/day.

You are far more likely to end up in -10/+10 range than not.

        • Ok great. Thanks for clarifying.

      • +1

All over my Seikos are very accurate. The quality control though of the dials and chapter rings is below par.

  • AW1147-52L where its at

    • It's a nice shape, but too dark for me.

      • Its got a comfy 40mm case and a extra wide bracelet like snakeskin…

        • Keep it in your pants mate.

  • Tried on the STO Great White Shark in store and it was lovely, I am patiently awaiting drop to around $400 mark.

  • M… wish they do the Shogan with sapphire crystal…

    • Have you looked at the new Sumo?

      • Yupe. App 600grams more and a fraction bigger. Upside is sapphire crystal and new movement with longer reserve.

Looking at their new LX line (which i thought might be the closest to Shogun) but very expensive…

I bought the Citizen Eco-Drive 200m Dive Watch BN0151-09L - great reviews everywhere. And a great price too.

    • +1

It's superb and an absolutely ripper price. I have the black BN0150 variant which I am wearing right now. Just waiting on the bracelet to come in to stock!

      • Thanks lesterfreamon, and thanks for posting the deal!

    • @poohduck…It's a great watch and a steal at $199. Enjoy!

  • The new Seiko 5's are available…
