UPS – Charge and use your device simultaneously

Pass-through charging is a nice feature, but this is the first time I've heard anyone called a powerbank a UPS. Especially considering the only things this powerbank would charge are portable devices which already have their own built-in batteries… it's technically correct but really just taking the piss lol.

Not always. Take a Raspberry Pi for example, this powerbank could be a handy when there's a power failure.

DIY projects not included…. but good point, didn't think of that.

          didn't think of that.

Good for hidden wireless security cameras as well.

          • +1

@deltakilo: Indeed. Ive just discovered that each of my cams will run for almost 4 full days on a 26,800mah charge

  • Since it's over 100wH is it banned from air travel? Has anyone ever had an issue with portable chargers on flights?

    • +3

No, 26800mAh power bank is just on the point of 100Wh. That's why its 26800 and not 27000 or 28000.

      • good to know thanks

Then they should update the title to remove the 102W(h) claim.

        • +4

102W max output is totally different from 100Wh. The 100Wh restriction is capacity, not output.

          • -3

@Bigboomboom: Yeah but nowhere does it state max output of 102W. They do however say "Massive 26800mAh battery with 102W total power" which makes it sound like they're confusing watts and watt-hours.

            • @Tacooo: Because that's typical Powerbank marketing. Most power bank will advertise X mAh capacity + Y W output total in same sentence.

            • +3

              @Tacooo: I mean…. they're using the correct units (W), so they're not confusing anything…

Plus, powerbanks are always measured in mAH, I've never seen one measured or marketed in watt-hours.

        • It's 102W, not 102W(h).

It's referring to the total output - 87W via USB-PD, presumably 15W via the other two USB-A ports (via QC3.0).

          • -2

@HighAndDry: Yeah I thought about that too but even then none of the numbers given add up. 18W from the QC 3.0 ports and 87W on USB PD.

            • +1

@Tacooo: I think it's that the simultaneous max output is 102W, so if the USB-PD port is outputting 87W, the QC3.0 ports can output 15W - but they can output 18W if the other port is outputting a lesser wattage there.

Happens fairly commonly, and usually it's a lot worse (car chargers especially - you'll have a charger with a 18W USB-PD port and a 15W USB-A QC3.0 port…. but max output at the same time will be something like 20W).

So yeah, even though I don't like Kogan marketing (again - lol UPS…), the product itself seems actually pretty solid.

      • Well… 26800mah is probably more because they use 18650 batteries in it and the closest they can get to 100wh in that form factor. 27000mah still does not exceed 100wh.

  • -4

    26800 mAh at 5V = 134Wh

    • +6

      26800mAh at 3.7V (cell voltage) = 99.16WH

  • 102W total power
3 Ports to charge and use devices simultaneously

Using all ports at the same time should keep the room nice and warm.

Almost same as the older model that I have but is sold out. Looks like they have just quoted higher total output from 60W to 75W which the older one was also supposed to be capable of according to a comment I read from Kogan Rep, maybe the same as old one then that was also on sale for same price but now funnily sold out.
