      • Dear Product REP

Would you mind sharing your Support team contact details (reachable one) for broken roborock product that was bought sometimes ago?have messaged your eBay store inbox almost a week ago but seems no one is keen or interested in listening to my concern. Also have reached out to Xiaomi AU but this is what they think about Gearbite " Xiaomi AU does not cover any support, service or provide warranty on the goods that is purchased from unauthorized reseller".

I wonder how this compare to the aldi 299$

    • +1

I think you will find the room mapping, i have had a robovac before that did not do room mapping and its pretty useless. Also looks like this can do all floor types.

      • ah. fair. Nvr owned one so got no idea what is good and if this is worth 600 bucks lol.

  • I need to wait for my kids to grow up so I can finally get one if these…

  • Hi Guys,
I am interested in getting this but not sure if this will be of real help to me. I stay in Townhouse where the ground floor is wooden floorboards while the upper floor is completely carpet. I am aware that this cant climb stairs but is it advisable that i can move the vacuum cleaner between the floors and still it would be able to map the rooms separately and recognise automatically on what floor it is to do the task.

I did some search but nothing concrete so checking with experts here.

    • Do these things vacuum carpet? I didn't think they did?

      • They did vacuum carpet. They supported one memory mop at this moment. Hopefully they will have multi-maps by firmware update.

    • +1

I have the S5 - it doesn't have multi room map, in a house with similar config, tile downstairs and carpet upstairs. We use downstairs alot so the unit is stationed downstairs and I put it on every night after dinner, one round of sweep then one round of mop. Clean file floors every morning! Once a week I take it upstairs and run it a few times for the entire floor. Robot can't do stairs obviously so I use a hand vac for those.

      Hope that helps.

  • ? Water Tank 550ml (Sold Separately)
Does it mean I need to buy extra parts to get the mopping going?

    • +2

No. Come with extra 2in 1 water tank(250ml) and Dustbin(300ml). You can use mopping function with 2 in 1 water tank and Dust Bin. Package also come with 550ml Dust bin. If you need bigger water tank 550ml, you can purchase that seperately.

      • +1

You should really clarify this in your OP. The table seems to indicate that you're comparing 550ml water capacity to the Roborock's 140ml, when from what I can tell the Roborock is in addition to the waste bin, whereas the vacuum you are advertising replaces the waste bin.

  • Looking at getting a robot vacuum is this a good price though?
Haven't seen the Roborock S5 below $470 mark recently. Is this worth the extra 130ish?

    • I bought my S5 1.5 years ago at this price and it's still going strong, haven't looked back since. It's worth every dollar. I'd say yes.

  • +1

Looking at this as well. Is there an Australia power adapter at all or possibly coming in the near future? I'm assuming there must be an English manual somewhere as well? Apologies if I've missed that information somewhere.

    • English manual is available as a PDF from their site, URL provided on the side of the box.

  • +1

good but still expensive, compare to Aldi $299 ecovacs. zone mapping itself doesnt justify extra 295 bucks

  • +1

    Any deal on the S5/S6?

  • Is this Roborock S50?

    • No, it is new product from xiaomi.

  • Rep, just wondering if the amount is inclusive of GST and will a tax invoice be provided.

    • Included GST , you can request Tax invoice by ebay message.

  • Any indications on how large an area the 250ml water container will allow you to mop, and what the 550ml water container will cost? Also can you only run water in them, or are they ok with a cleaning solution?

    • There are 3 water mode(low, medium and high),, no sure how many square it can do. I managed to clean dinning and living around 40 square meter with one go and left some water. If you need for large space, 550ml water tank which need to purchase seperately may help. I would say put water only.

    • I currently own the S5, I've tried putting cleaning solution in the water unit before. It does work, but you end up having to remop with water in the unit a few times after, because naturally it leaves the cleaning solution (say floor bleach) in the tiles and that's not clean. Plus, the filters for the water tank have to be thrown out pretty much after that. So water only.

  • Can you please send a review unit for 3rd party review
This guy has pretty much made Roborock S5 and S6 famous for good quality.

  • @gearbite are the voice prompts only in mandarin? Or is there an English option??

    • Haven't found an english option for voice in the app, just an on/off switch and volume control.
Probably too soon in the product's life for an English translation to be available.

    • +1

have requested english voice, you can turn off voice at this moment.Hopefully they will update shortly.

  • @Gearbite I currently own the S50, is this the newer S6? Or different product?

    • +1

      It's a different product.
If you want better mopping this may be a better choice; it has a larger water tank (and an even bigger one can be purchased extra, although it replaces the dust bin completely so the robot can't collect dust at the same time), the mopping pads have more surface area and the robot uses a "human-like" back-and-forth motion to imitate real mopping.
If you don't use mopping at all the S6 is better because it has a bigger battery.

      • Thanks, yeah we do mop every night so this works be a good option.

  • Hi I purchased one of these but I cant figure out how to set up sweep/mop certain areas and only sweep carpet. Cant find a guide for MI home app that explains this.
If you set restricted areas will the robot go in there at all or just getting missed??. I am assuming its not autodetecting carpet and tiles to do clean automatically
Also can I save different maps , took me nearly half a day to get a full map and don't want to ruin it by setting up restricted areas, unless I can reverse these areas? Anyone familiar with Mi home app as the user manual is very basic doesn't explain the use of MI home app

    • Once you have saved map, you can set up restrict area, you map will not lost if you do not click relocate map. Once you set up restricted area, vacuum will not enter that area. You can edit restrict area before you start to clean, it wont affect your memory map.

  • @gearbite Where can I buy the 550ml water tank? Is there a product link?

    • No avaiable at this moment, xiaomi will release this product later and update the firmware with mop only features.

      • Thanks.
Though interestingly, right now, I can only see the vacuum only and mop only features in the app, I can’t actually see the vacuum and mop together. Is that what is supposed to happen?

        • I wondered this too. Perhaps the "Mop" setting is actually vacuum+mop if the 2-in-1 dustbin is installed, and mop only mode when the large water tank is installed (since there's nowhere for the dust to go)?

          • @ssquid: Interesting, good point, could be. I think it’ll be clearer after a few uses.

  • Hi can you replace the battery in this with higher capacity? is it easy enough?

  • My experience so far:

Still haven’t successfully ran a full vac sesh. First time got stuck in a corner. No obstacles but said there was some so it wouldn’t move. Had to relocate back to the doc which meant no map saved..

Second time around I tried again. This time it got stuck in my study. Weird thing was it ran out of battery but didn’t even attempt to go back to the dock…

Pretty disappointed so far as I sold my first gen to upgrade. Starting to regret my decision. Will give it another go tomorrow to see how I go. Otherwise possibly a faulty unit?

    • The only times mine has got stuck is when it squeezed under a low dresser and then couldn't squeeze out, and when it mounted a guitar stand and lifted the wheels off the ground. Both times I just put it back on the floor a short distance away, pressed the power button and it continued the clean.
For the first full session (map generation) I would suggest using Silent mode to make the battery last as long as possible, otherwise it probably won't finish mapping every room of a decent-sized house in one go. Mine lasts less than 90 minutes in Standard mode, and trying to do a full-house clean in one go is pointless anyway because the bin will get too full.

      • Will try that for tomorrow. Annoying though as my first gen never had this issue…

      • @ssquid after the first full clean does the map stay permanent so you can designate areas etc??

        • Yes, the next time it does a full clean the app asks if you want to replace the map or keep the old one, which seems to update it with new info anyway (moved chairs and stuff).

          • @ssquid: So update:

Did what you said. On silent mode. Finally scanned the whole house. Mapped it out quite well actually. Managed to do my first mop sesh too. Not bad at all. Could it be better? I think at $600 it can

            • @bemybubble: Anyone knows what happens if it cannot finish mapping the whole house on the first full scan? Will it continue remapping after recharge? Thanks!

              • @shopping addict: It will continue when it gets to around 80% charge (assuming it's not in the Do-not-disturb period at the time).

                • @ssquid: Many thanks! By the way, any luck getting Gearbite to double check if HEPA filter is washable?

                  • @shopping addict: No reply from them. It's pretty poor if they're not washable since there doesn't seem to be replacements available for purchase.

                  • +1

                    @shopping addict: is washable.

                    • @Gearbite: One thing I’ve also noticed is this one doesn’t tell you when the consumables are coming up due

                    • @Gearbite: From the English manual that you provided:

Do not wash Filter Grid in water, or Filter may be clogged up resulting in inefficient cleaning.

If it's washable why does the manual say not to wash it?

                      • @ssquid: You can wash for this filter, You can not wash first generation one. I will reqeust to revise that.

                      • @ssquid: Do you have the same issue as me with updating??

                        • @bemybubble: I got the 3.5.3_0042 update on Wednesday (on android).

                          • @ssquid: Damn. I’m on IOS. I wonder if anyone else is facing the same issue as me where they can’t update

                          • @ssquid: Did your update include the english voice pack? Any noticable changes?

              • @shopping addict: @shopping addict: mine turned off and didn't go back to recharge. But don't think that's supposed to happen…

                • @bemybubble: Xiaomi updated firmware, please try to update and let me know if problem fixed.

                  • @Gearbite: No new updates since purchase ??

When I do a zoned cleanup it never finds its way back home. Never had this issues with the first generation. Do you get this issue too??

                    • @bemybubble: I have updated yesterday, looks like fixed your issue. Please try go to setting/firmware updates.

                      • @Gearbite: Says Firmware is up to date Version 3.5.3_0040?

                        • @bemybubble: 3.5.3_0042 with IOS.

                          • @Gearbite: Interesting. Mine is saying it’s up to date? Set on mainland China. I wonder why yours has updated but mine hasn’t…?

  • My robo vacuum arrived yesterday and I have vacuumed and mopped the first floor of my home.
I have been pretty impressed by its performance so far.
The mapping and navigation is excellent, no issues getting stuck first time around.
Vacuum and mopping have worked well on first pass. Could setup scheduling, restrictions, virtual walls, different rooms etc.
Setting it up with the Xiaomi app took alot longer then i had hoped but worked when i give the app all of the "optional" permissions to my phone (i have since disabled those permissions and everyone is fine now). Looking forward to the English voice pack but it really isnt essential for the vacuum.

For those interested, it either vacuums or vacuums and mops. I understand that the mop only feature will become available in the future (or so i am told).
Dont think it has multi floor mapping (yet?) - so I believe you would need to remap it each time you take it to another floor. That might be a problem if you need to have restrictions in place before you vacuum for the first time as restrictions can only be placed on a generated map (it seems).

I tried to find information on this new vacuum before I had purchased it but there isnt much out there so i am happy to answer any questions based on my limited experience with it.

    • How are you finding it now after a further week or two?
      Any issues you've noticed?

I've been looking for a decent overview of it, say compared to a Roborock S6 but nothing out there yet. Vids so far all purely unboxing.

Have there been consistent firmware updates released for it to address any problems noted?

      • +1

There's been two firmware updates so far (one was available when it arrived, another last week) but no idea what they changed, I haven't had any major issues with my unit.

Basically the only major functional difference between this unit and the S6 seems to be that when this one is set to mop it moves in a different pattern with a back-and-forth motion. So unless you are going to use that a lot (and keep in mind we're still waiting for the full-size water tank to be available - the 2-in-1 tank only holds enough water for about 30m2 on the highest setting) you're better off with the S6 since it has a significantly bigger battery for the same price.

  • Hi is it possible/easy enough to replace battery with higher capacity, it charges a couple of times to clean my place and takes a long time to charge making it half a day exercise
What battery would be best providing it can be done

  • Why can I only use the china mainland server?

    • Because that's the only place it's been officially released, other servers don't have support for it.
