    I have a friend who is a welder, a VERY good welder, done it all of his life (42). He doesn't use gloves (at work he has to but outside that, never)

    I said (profanity) this and wore gloves, when he was training me how to be a hopeless home welder… he said not to, that will make it worse. This is just stick welding.

    At home, I always just use a pair of riggers gloves.

      Usually, you would wear a long lefthand glove if your righthanded with stick or mig. I've been welding for 45 years.

          @OzBragain: You can buy 2 pack of lefthanded welding gloves [BOC Bunnings etc]. As I understand it was an Aussie welder who first came up with the idea of selling just the lefthanded gloves back in the early 80's.
