Sennheiser HD201 Headphones - Roughly 25AUD Delivered after 5% off voucher - ama5

Couldn't already post the coupon in the little box since it was already posted ages ago.

Pretty good deal - Officeworks sell these for $38 and JB for $49.

Also, not sure when this deal expires, best guess is within a week, based on other deals.

EDIT: To clarify, these are 15.79 GBP, after the 5% off they're 15 GBP and postage is 1.95 GBP. So 16.95 GBP equates to roughly 25 AUD

Enjoy

  • seems like a good deal. But I don't know too much about Headphones. I wouldn't mind a spare pair for work as I often need to listen to podcasts/internal videos for work. Thoughts?

    • For this price they are awesome. I have a pair and I love them. Not the best you can get I have many others for that. But then again the cost 15 times more.

  • +2

I've got a pair of these on my head right now. They are great headphones for the price. Don't expect great bass at this price but they are really light and comfortable to wear.

Approx $25 Seems to be the normal price on Chinese eBay stores.

      Keyword: Chinese

        Uh did you know

God made the world, everything else made in CHINA!

        :D

moral of the story is, just because you are buying from uk doesn't mean it's not made in China :P

        • -4

          Uh did you know

God made the world, then they made a cheap knock-off of it in China.

          :D

moral of the story is, if you are buying based purely on brand name (like Sennheiser) and are getting it cheap from China, you may be getting a knock-off (and probably won't be getting warranty service like this site does - see comment below). :P

        • Supply chains do not work in the way that because it is made in China, it is cheaper or even possible to buy it there. A big brand like Sennheiser does not let any small Chinese seller buy from them or the factory to sell cheaply online.

Most big brand authentic goods in China are actually more expensive than in the west. I deal with international trade on some branded goods from different countries, and I have never seen a good deal on legitimate brands direct from China. You find it cheaper in the USA or Europe even though it originated in China. It is just how brands control their products.

The $30 Sennheiser HD 201 headphones are a great value aimed at the infrequent user who's simply looking to upgrade from poor-quality stock earphones without spending a ton. The HD 201s are far from audiophile quality and lack the low-end oomph of pricier headphones from the competition, but we do recommend them to casual listeners who will find satisfaction in their comfortable build, balanced sound, and affordability.

Bought a pair of PX100 nearly a year ago, it broke a few weeks ago, sent it back and got the money refund. Recommend this site and their service ;)

    • How much did it cost to send back to UK?

      • +3

cost me 11AUD but they will refund your postage fees as well :P

        • +1

wow. very rare for postage to be refunded. pretty good!

        • yeah this is a great site, have bought heaps of stuff off them in the past, esp the cheap 16 class 10 transcend sdhc cards. Average shipping time has been 5-10 business days depending on the product.

  • +1

Does that coupon code work? Tried it a few days ago but nothing.. good store tho.

    • +1

The only place I see to enter a voucher code during the checkout process is in the "gift certificate" field, and putting it there has no effect.

Makes it about $27.37 with standard delivery at PayPal's exchange rate.

    • +1

Yep I'm having the same problem the code doesn't work!

    • +1!

  • +1

Hmm, this is a decent price but I'm feeling pretty good about the set I got from 1day a couple of months back for $14.95 now! :)

    • The ones I bought from 1day turned out to be fake.

      • +2

Moral of the story, as mentioned in the 1-day thread, price match at OW if in doubt with 1-day stock. I picked up 2 pairs and my local OW. They matched it without batting an eyelid, they even forgot to factor in the shipping! Scored 2 pairs for $28.41. :)

        • Hmm, interesting gilbarc coz mine are real Sennys…there'd have been hell to pay if an Aussie retailer sent me fakes!!! You'd expect it from a Chinese ebayer, but not a local! ;)

I'm actually pretty damn impressed with these for a budget headphone, nice tight bass & good frequency response for the price. Great value even at $25 IMHO! :)

        • They do?

          :O

I would pick up a pair, but I've already got some Koss PortaPros, some Prodipe pros 800, somes Xears Resonance, and some Logitech U.E 200's Lol.

    • Yeah happy with mine as well highly unlikely they are fakes.

  • I bought mine from officeworks for $35 I think. So if you'd rather not wait and pay an extra $10, then officeworks is the way to go.

    • are we talking about a bargain or standard price?

  • would officeworks match their price?

  • +2

Doubt it, seeing as they're an online retailer in the UK.

  • Officeworks has them for $36.95:

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/b2c/display/(cpgsize=10&layout=5.1-25_125_125_195_197_196_198_205_5_125_125_130_125_125_77_125_125_200_201_125&uiarea=4&cpgnum=1&cquery=hd201)/.do?rf=y

But I think they go on sale fairly often - I was sure I bought them there for my wife for about $20.

They might price match it, too.

A good set of cans for the price.

Perfect for work or other non-critical listening places.

  • don't think AMA5 code works anymore?

  • For the extra $9 or whatever it's not worth buying os if you ask me.

    • -4

no one asks you. thank you.

God stubborn people these days… not to mention anyone in particular…

        • no need to mention, its always…

        • So what? It's not worth it to purchase OS compared with here. What's the big deal?

    • -4

Being the proud owner of 2 sets of fake sennheiser from ebay (HD201 + HD202), that look incredibly like the real ones but have really dodgy connections - I have to agree it's not worth the hassle unless you like listening to sound out of one earphone only.

Note: I am also proud owner of an older set of HD202s bought in Australia from Mr Dick Smith that still work perfectly.

      • +1

So…you negged the deal because you bought two fake ones which don't work so well? My Memory is a pretty well-established site - I've bought genuine products from them before and trust that I can buy genuine Sennheisers from them.

these are decent headphones for the money.

I got them at OW for A$19 awhile ago with a friend's Coles/Myer staff discount. The offer price then was A$20.

    • LOL @ saving $1 with the staff discount!! hahaha you are a true ozbargainer!! and for that you get a +

  • Just saw these tdk nc-150 for 21.94 at OW.

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Mul…

Would this be a better deal since it's got active noise cancelling?

    • +1

Not really, the HD201 is a well known model and would be much better than the TDK you posted. IMO, anyway. The sennheiser would have superior sound quality to the TDK you posted.

      • +1

I've tried the NC-150, the background hiss from the budget active noise cancelling in quieter environments was really irritating. I took them back to JB & got my $28 back! ;)

The cancellation worked kinda ok in louder background noise; but IMHO you can get pretty much the same result from a decent set of IEC isolating earbuds!

[edit] @ Someguy, it seems user Hashim's got you covered with the best of both worlds with this post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48422 dunno what they're like though, google some reviews maybe! :)

        • Thanks for the heads up, maybe I'll give that one a look.
