  • OmG! Is this that expensive? AF-S version was cheaper those days

its is weatherproof and has OIS etc.

however saying that I've never seen so much money for so little aperture

i get that OIS gives you one stop but it should be a long day in hell before you pay $700+ for a lens that's only 4.5 to 5.6 - its effectively a bright daylight lens at the 300mm end… yuck

Have a look at Sony version of 70-300, it costs double!

I believe this one works on full frame which is the only reason you'd get it.

Otherwise, the f/4.5-6.3 version can be had closer to $200. Despite the plastic mount, the optics is good and is great on nikon 1 using the ft1 adapter.

    • I have dx version(f/4.5-6.3) and its a great lense for $200, if you have dx camera buy that one for way less.

  • if you are on Canon, and have got this much to invest in glass, do yourself a favour and search for the classic 80-200 2.8L on eBay. trust me, disappointed you will be not
