  • Tooooo expensive…I suggest to take a VCP exam, then you can get both certification and VMware workstation…

    • Hmm, I'm unconvinced that VCPs get free Workstation any more - I thought that stopped some years ago. Happy to be proven wrong though.

VirtualBox is free and provides very similar functionality.

Really depends on your needs. IME VMware is still noticeably better in a few situations (mostly Windows guests). Whether that's worth the $200+ is up to you. Though if you're using it non-commercially, there's the free VMware Player too (gimped, no snapshots etc.).

Also, if you need to use it commercially with USB passthrough support, VMware is much cheaper - the VBox extension pack (PUEL non-commercial) costs $1000/socket or $50/user with a min order quantity of 100 users. Basically, classic Oracle.

Why spend AU$333 when you can get it on ebay for US$1.99

    • is that someone selling licenses from a downloadable keygen? or am I missing something here?

      • It’s must be keygen…you can easily find the keygen on the internet

    • Because that will be someone who signs up to the VMware Partner Network and then sells the license keys, which is a violation of the license agreement and confers you no legal rights to run the software, so if you're going to pirate it you may as well just pirate it yourself and not give money to scammers and criminals?

    • Yeah, no. Not worth it.

I'd wait for the yearly Black Friday sale, if possible. They're usually 30%-40% off.

Good price, but I'll hug my free hyper-v and virtualbox

  • Look into the VMUG program, for home usage, at least.

  • Support for Windows 10 1903 shouldn't require a purchase…

It's VMware. Support for a frigging Windows hotfix requires a purchase. They're as bad as Parallels.

      • That's my point :)
