  • Excellent find Citus, had me worried about model issues as I ordered 2 for my family, credit card has been charged and tax invoice received. Here's Hopeful.

    • I believe there's still no confirmation as to whether the hissing issue is isolated to the "K" model or not. So maybe you should keep worrying just in case :)

Would be good for someone who actually suffers from the hissing to comment on their model!

I just called Shopping square and was told that my order will be sent in a couple of days as there was a large run on this product. He said it was the correct price and that the phone will be sent.
Not too sure if it is true but he didnt seem to baulk at it so it may be true.

Be nice if they sent out an email to advise of the delay as some people might not want to wait (Also causing less delays for those willing to wait)

    Anyone else had any feedback?

    • "a couple of days" - why do they need to advise people of this delay? 2 days is nothing.

      • At least they're honouring the deal!

    • Last guy who called said it could be up to a month for delivery…

      • I believe he guessed a month.

    • Just called them up, spoke to a lady. She said that they will be issuing "tickets" (i.e. customer support tickets) with more detail of their allocation.

She reckons stock would be shipped out between 1-2 weeks from today (as in, i asked 1-2 weeks from "today"? and she said yes).

    • What time and date did you place/pay for your order? Trying to figure out where mine sits at…

      • 9:20pm - im not sure what threshold you have to be at, though.

  • Will see though if it is only a "couple of days" still would be nice to send an email out to advise there may be a delay as the delivery time frame initially was 3-7 days.

    • EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't read properly…

  • nice job for the guys who managed to get one! I was a click away before I pulled out…afterall i still have 12months on the IP4( signed up for a 24months plan durings its glory days)

Why would you have even thought of bothering? Wait for your plan to finish and get something that makes this Samsung as useful as a paper weight.

Just for a matter of interest, is this what people do? Get a phone as part of a payment plan, then upgrade their own phone with one bought for cash? WTF?

      • +12

erm… in true Ozbargain fashion, you can actually still stay positive in cash while owning the latest phones, this is what I did:

        1. Bought Galaxy S for $560 - June 2010
        2. Sold my near new phone on contract Nokia X6 on eBay for $280 - June 2010
        3. Buying this phone now $520
        4. Sell my Galaxy S for ~$250 on the bay or Mazuma
        5. Next year when I renew my contract I can sell the Galaxy S2 for at least $250, or if there's nothing better on offer, sell what I get when renewing my contract and sell that

During the renewing process I normally opt out and opt back to get cashback for Three (84 per transaction) + referral credit for my girl friend (25 per transaction) + online bonus credit of $50-$100 (or half monthly fees for 12 months something X2) = 318

So here's the summary: -560+280-520+250+250+318 = $18 dollars to spare while getting the latest and best phones every 12 months (while on a $29 plan)! A bit of effort (mostly just on-line anyways) but why not? That's how you do it as an Ozbargainer lol

If Michaelz above sold his IP4 now he will get almost all of the purchase price for this SGS2 back, pretty good I'd say. I think this is generally the best way for people who are on a lower $ contract but want to get the newest phones to save a few bucks.

        • +2

man! right on the money! true Ozbargainer! Ebay style > A++++++++++++++

        • I am the similar with u :-)

Found 10% off link from ozbargain to get IP432GB end of July last year, and extra $50 credit plus $84 money back, total cost me $54.1 x 24 -$50 -$84=$1164.4 on 2 years $49cap contract with Voda, now going to sell IP4 on ebay and expecting $600 net pay,(as very good cond) so the cost reduces to $564.4, now bought SGII at $510 (after cashback and reward points) and expecting sell $400 when IP6 launchs next year, then can have a new contract. Total just cost around $564.4+ $110= $674.4, $28 per month lol

Really good deal and apprecaited ozbargain !!

        • Maybe I'm missing something, but I feel your calculation is somewhat off.
For one, you're including the sale price of your Nokia X6 but didn't include its purchase price.

Generally, you can't make money of a depreciating asset. If you think you are, I'd double check your calculations.
Not saying that it's a bad plan or anything :)

        • Mate I was just trying to show Marto why people sale their phones on contract… since he seem to see it as "WTF". Not trying to show you can make money, just wanted to show you can save quite a lot by using all of Ozbargain's offerings :) but if you really want to get into the details:

I got the Nokia X6 for free on my contract starting in June.

lol - if you want to get into even more detail, let's include opportunity cost to work out the real cost of the phone: say you include a contract comparison with a cheaper option like Live Connected with no handset to work out the real cost of the handset, in this case the Nokia X6.

Say if I go on a $15 Live Connected plan, plus $5 for Lebara since I need at least that amount to call overseas. 20 * 24 = 480 instead of the 29 * 24 = 696 I pay for being on Three. So I pay around $216 for the Nokia X6 as the real cost of the phone.

But then you need to consider - if you go on Live Connected, you won't be able to get the cashbacks, referrals, free online credits etc, which is worth around $318, in that case I will still pay less if I go with Three.

        • if you want to sell galaxy s let me know ..

  • Hope these guys notify when products are shipped

Samsung again! Why there are so many coupons about Samsung here?

  • Hello everyone, I just received tax invoice from SS which confirm my order. Also the status on SS website shows PAID. Cannot wait to get this phone.

    • Isnt that what you meant to get straight after you paid? Unless you doing delayed payment?

      • You can do delayed payment with SS, it's only Paypal that has to be instant.

      • No. this tax invoice was emailed from shopping square. It shows which date that payment received. (almost the same invoice I got after purchase) Don't know why SS sent it, but they might count the number of orders..

        • On the tax invoice, it shows I purchased S2 on 11th July (around 9:40pm), and SS received the payment on 11th July.

  • I got an order confirmation and tax Invoice, both looked the same and were emailed at 11:22pm on the 11/7/11.
Is that what you received? Mine both had SS logos on them.

    • yes, Mattycee.

More RECENT update: According to the CS rep i spoke to, the promotion sold approximately 500 at the price listed for this item. Believe it or not, they only had on hand 150. They confirmed 100% they are HONOURING all orders placed from phone # 151-500 (not sure if that was a ballpark or exact amount) at the price paid, so the deal stands. The only problem is, my order, which took place around 10-11pm on the NIGHT of the deal post will take approximately TWO WEEKS before dispatch! That sucks, but the deal is worth the wait. Hope that helps ladies and gents.

    • Is it taking 2 weeks because it is order no greater than 150 or will the first 150 orders also take 2 weeks. Asking since I ordered at 8.45 pm on the night it was posted so I think I am in the first 150.

      • I called them up and they were indifferent - they gave me a blanket statement and were unable to tell me if i was in the first batch or not.

      • I ordered at 8:22pm EST, and have not received a dispatch notification. I am beginning to wonder if they had any stock on hand.

      • I wonder what's taking them so long, because surely they can immediately dispatch the first 150?

    • Thanks for the specific info roosta. Would be good if SS provided some official communication on this. I know they have been following these comments. I ordered around 8:27pm so heres hoping they dispatch asap.

  • I will be in the same boat. Mine was 11pm on the night of the deal too so I wonder if anyone will get it earlier as the majority of orders would have stemmed from here the next day I would assume.
    Thanks for the update roosta.

    • Yeah mine was about 11:30pm so i'm guessing I'll be part of the 2nd batch as well.
      Ah well.

If it's any peace of mind… I call them just just a while ago and they confirmed that these phones ARE brand new and unlocked. Though he did say (as mentioned above) that they have over sold the stock which they had on hand and I might take at least 2 weeks before these orders are even shipped. Here's hoping that this deal turns out well for all of us!

    • Yes, i can confirm too these are brand new, sealed and unlocked. I asked that as well. If your phone has a broken seal i would return it for an immediate refund or replacement. Any phones i have bought previously opened i have had issues with; so always good to be on the safe side!

      • Did you happen to find out what version the phone is, what the K stands for, and whether it has the A Tick?

        • It won't have an A Tick because it's a grey import.

A-Tick doesn't mean much, but I'm not sure what this special K is…

        • What does the special K mean?

Hello - can we maintain one thread just for updates (progress), here is what i have compiled - if you call them, please reply to this post.

Just called SS, their number is 0296663055. The guy told me he had to speak to sales team first, but then he told me that they would honour it after I asked him again (felt pretty dodgy but oh well, its such a cheap deal!) but it would take them quite a while to fulfil all orders since they are obviously overloaded with so many demands for S 2.

    • Hi there, sorry but I dont understand what is phone #151-500. I am a little worried as the Samsung G S2 is reflected as paid through paypal. However, I have not received my tax invoice through email and whatever confirmation that other Ozbargainers have been speaking of. Just hope that I am still part of the group that qualifies for the cheap phone deal.

      • they said that they would honour the purchases made at that price - i believe that if its reflected in paypal, then you will get it. Another buyer mentioned that they just recieved confirmation today which is quite late!

dont get too caught up on the 150-500 numbers, i believe they were estimates only - 150 in stock and 500 orders.

  • -3

I have a niggling feeling that it will take 4 - 6 weeks for deliveries to start happening. By then the full buzz on Galaxy S II update will be in full swing and just about to hit the stores. (To compete with iPhone 5 in August - September) Let's hope Samsung bumps up the ram to 1.5GB, increases screen resolution to 960 x 540 like the HTC and clocks the dual core to 1.4GHZ. Amazing!! I also feel more 'limited time bargain' price cuts are coming to offload more excess inventory.

      ^ fits your nickname perfectly

    • because higher clock speed means faster than everything right?

I wouldn't mind the interest on $250k in the meantime.

SS are damaging their reputation by leaving buyers in the dark two days after they've been already paid for.

    • +1

THB they didn't have a reputation to begin with

  • Just "Create a ticket" to them, saying got holiday plan to Europe two weeks later will be back half year after, want to confirm the date of receiving item and make sure can get it before leaving :-) See whats response from them.

  • +2

They have dropped the price now to $573.95 and still out of stock! Why so many price changes, particularly when they don't even have stock? Their prices fluctuate like the stock market.

Also advising for new orders: •Due to Popular Demand: Order will be shipped by the 1st week of Aug 2011. So our orders should be here prior to this date.

    • very good observation! it lines up with the 1-2 week estimation given as we are about halfway through the month.

    • I noticed the code is different with the $573.95 price tag ( Code: (DS)MP-SAM-I9100-GS2K )
      The code for $473.95 phone was (Code: (DS)MP-SAM-I9100-Galaxy S II-K )

      • Thats a good pickup, but looking at the comments below, GS2k (if k=black, then the S II-K would mena the same thing. I doub tthye'd seek a second supplier, but given thew price fluctuations and the fact they are getting more in and hive slightly changed the product code - its certainly a possibility.

      • it could be a database limitation and they want to make sure the product codes are differentiated so that they are priced appropriately (it means the old code is tied to 473.95 and obviously they will not use this code anymore)

  • +6

I ordered one when it was 80 plus votes. That was around 10pm. Came back today to see the comments and amazed.:-)
As for the model code SAM-I9100-GS2K, I think it means:
    SAM—Samsung
    Product Model: I9100
    GS2—Galaxy S2
    K—Black

Nothing special about code"K",it just means "Black"

    • -6

I wish 'K' means Made in Korea.
      Don't like MIC

    • +1

Mate! You are a genius! You just gave 500 plus people out there a good night sleep!
Thinking about it of course "K" means black LOL

      • No worries!

    • No no no, K means Krap EMF noise model, didn't you get the memo? All those people with sour grapes must be right!

  • The deal is back up at $573, expires in 2 days. They seem to be taking more orders now (no longer says out of stock).

If they're taking more orders…one would assume they've sourced more stock…but who knows.

    • "Due to Popular Demand: Order will be shipped by the 1st week of Aug 2011."

      • Woah only shipped on Aug 1st?!

So like 1 month wait for peeps?

        • If they ship it on the 1st of August, you'll probably get it by 1st September. lol

      • Interesting to see if they all ship August, or only the 'new' ones, and the other offer ones ship sooner

    • Shoppingsquare now has a picture of an SGS1 on the SGS2 page. Looks dubious…

  • +1

No emails, no replies to tickets. I don't really want to support a business with such pathetic customer service, or lack thereof.

I'll be cancelling my order - If I can.

    • Why dont you get it and sell it to an ozbargainer on here that missed out? =)

      • Orders are open again, so no excuses :)

      • yeah, if you cancel they win!! i'll take it!

    • Sell it to me :)

    • Just ring them, your worries will subside.

    • They didn't e-mail anyone because you wouldn't be expecting anything in the next 8 days anyway.

I got a reply to a support ticket in 1 day, but it's contents can be found here anyway.

  • +1

I think the warranty on the device should start from the day you receive it. Especially since it could be weeks before we receive it.

  • +7

    i got following ticket reply.

Thank you for your query and we do apologise for the delay in getting back to you.

Unfortunately there has been a delay with our supplier. The delay is stretching out to 3 weeks. Are you happy to wait or would you like a refund?

    Kind Regards,

    • I'm sure they didn't initially mean to sell at this price, hence weren't expecting the huge number of orders. Well, it's a trade off I guess: 3-4 weeks wait to get the phone and save $200 or buy now and spend $700ish.

    • ebrij what time did you order? Was it on the 11th or 12th?

      • Yeah I would like to know that too, surely they would ship out stock that they have first? 3 weeks is almost a month which is quite poor form

      • i ordered on 11th around 6 PM perth time…..i think i have orderred just after link posted on ozbargain….may be i was first 10th who ordered……

        • uh oh… bad news for all

hope the market price of the phone doesn't drop in the next 3-4 weeks!

  • Still waiting for a freakn refund! Started a dispute with PayPal since I can't get through to SS.

Never ordering from SS again, they don't even have a contact number!

I've just signed up for the SG2 on a plan, that way I'll have support if anything goes wrong and Samsungs local warranty.

    • +2

You can reach them on 02 9666 3055.

      • Well that was easy, cancelled over the phone! Thanks!

        Still waiting for the refund…

        • +7

What a waste, there are others who would do just about anything to get the deal you just cancelled :o

        • +3

Why refund when you could easily resell it for $150 profit?

    • +3

you have been warned about their service before! why complain now? you got yourself a cheap deal! And seriously…you only paid 2 days ago…and you are crying for a refund…if you wanted service, then signing up on a plan right now is plain silly as Telstra hasnt even released their plans yet(I dont call 3, Optus, Voda Service when you have to wait over 30mins to get through to someone only to drop out)!

      • -2

Yes I won't be shopping at SS again, they clearly have no idea about customer service.

Plain silly? Why would I wait for Telstra when it's cheaper elsewhere & I'm not locked in for 24 months?

How do you know what the phone will be worth in a month?

        • -2

          seriously! [mod: removed personal attack]

Exactly which retailer would drop the price of the latest samsung phone by another 200 bucks in 3 weeks time?!?!?!?!?!?

ok pushing that aside, i think you have every right to be mad as a customer, but still, I was expecting them to receive orders in the thousand mark, not hundreds.

        • I'm talking about Ebay value.

        • +2

Cheaper elsewhere? Dude you just screwed up a deal that was clearly cheaper than anywhere else!

And heres you ranting about customer service! And you settle for second best customer service( non telstra = second best)

          Plain silly!

        • -5

          Sigh, you don't get it.

It was more of an impulse buy, but in the end I don't feel comfortable having an import from who knows where, with no manufacturers warranty. SS clearly don't know what they're doing, so good luck with warranty claims through them, they're not getting my money.

If you look at what SS are selling the phone at now, what about a month from now? I don't think it'll go for the same price on ebay considering, 1: It's a grey import - no stock warranty. 2: It's from SS.

Read my previous point about Telstra, come back & see if you can tell me what plans they offer. IE more expensive, 24 month contract)

Once I sell off my ip4, I should be even. :)

You might actually want to read my post a couple of times so you don't repeat your same point again.

It's a very nice phone btw.

Although you might think it, I don't need your approval Michael =)

        • +1

Shaun, No one mentioned you are desperate to make a quick buck. All I sais to now is that this is a cheap deal and like dkslim said above, a lot of people would like to get this deal if they could. However, I really think you are contradicting yourself to some extent(to the point you changed your own reply just a few minutes ago).

1)Did you not read about SS PRIOR to buying this phone? NO ONE asked you you to buy it in the first place. You did yourself

2)you whinge and whinge for a refund and tells me here you are not desperate…

"Still waiting for a freakn refund! Started a dispute with PayPal since I can't get through to SS.
and then "I've just signed up for the SG2 on a plan…"

          YOU ARE DESPERATE! LOL!

          3) you complain about customer service .."Yes I won't be shopping at SS again, they clearly have no idea about customer service."

Yet you sign up to a non-telstra Telco! if you are sooo KEEN on customer service why settle for second best????

4)"Why would I wait for Telstra when it's cheaper elsewhere & I'm not locked in for 24 months?" dude….you just CANCELLED the cheapest deal yet, so NO it won't be more cheaper elsewhere but more expensive elsewhere.lol

LOL, Shaun mate, I never got the deal( I wished I did), yes, I know it is a very nice phone.
Too bad for you, i will more than likely get this phone cheaper than you with BETTER customer service also in a couple of months when I get it…you see I am not as desperate as you are.

        • -2

          Timed out

        • -2

          Timed out, again

        • -6

I didn't think it was that complicated, but I'll try to simplify things for your benefit. Try not to take things out of context again.

I now have the phone on a 12 month plan. It's cheaper than my other option, which was buying it outright (Australian stock). There are providers, other than Telstra that offer the same, if not better service in my area.

As I said earlier, I don't think buying from SS is worth the saving when you have no idea where the phones from, when it's being delivered & being stuck with SS for warranty.

As I said, Telstra will not be offering a suitable plan when they release the phone.

          To summarise your points;

          1. Stating the obvious, explained last post
          2. Taken out of context, basically I'd rather spend extra for local warranty
And wanted my payment to SS refunded
          3. You're delusional if you think Telstra offer the best customer service, not from my experience anyway, and I don't know of any telcos that have customer service as bad as SS
          4. As stated above, I don't want a grey import. I'm talking about local prices

New Android phones are being developed so quickly it'll be outdated whenever you buy it, so that's not an issue for me - I just buy when I'm ready, upgrade & sell it off. Telstra, last time I looked they only had 24 month plans, so yeah, enjoy, honestly it's like I'm arguing with a school kid, I'm so jelly :D

Can I ask why you haven't bought the phone at the revised price?

Risk outweighs the saving, that's why I cancelled.
