In my opinion this is preferred to buying from eBay considering the small price difference, because you can be a lot more certain that it hasn't been tampered with, unlike products from some eBay deals.

In addition, you may be able to get it price matched, as others have.

In the end, you need to consider the risk vs reward, as to which seller you prefer.

  • NOTE: These are NOT the S version that supports Bluetooth (PC / Mobile / Android Box)

    • It looks exactly like the one I have, and mine has Bluetooth.

But this is not the latest controller with the improved textured grip (on the back of the controller).

Why would a Brand New controller need to be tested before shipping?

    • Same as virtually all mobile phones bought from eBay.

I have no idea (maybe they repackage them?).

Sounds like they are selling refurbished and knock off controllers as new/genuine.

        • Got old product instead of new! Refund issued but lost money on transaction fees

        • Not functioning properly left thumb stick circle on screen moving by itself

        • Did not work

        • Controller is not genuine did not work. Money refunded be wary!

        • It appears to be refurbished and not brand new. There are scrapes on it.

        • Controller was defective and didn't look authentic. Received a partial refund

        • Fault advertising.

        • Controller had faulty R3 and L3 buttons but was very quickly and easily resolved

        • faulty but no problem returning item

        • Controller seems to work, but missing sticker, uncertain if authentic.

        • Controllers were knockoff, advertised as genuine. Returned and refunded promptly

        • The controller is not good quality for the price not angry just disappointed

        • Cool controller not sure if it us actaully "new" had scratches on it

        • Item not genuine but seller refunded promptly

        • TERRIBLE TRANSACTION

        • Your argument runs counter to their 99.6% positive rating.

But you can't rule out a fake/used anything bought from eBay.

Ps. Are you quoting controller faults bought from this seller?

            @BooYa:

Your argument runs counter to their 99.6% positive rating.

Buyers can't leave feedback after seller has agreed to a return/refund.

What do you think people are more likely to click first if they have an issue?

The fact that these may have scratch because of the test before shipping shows that the seller knows these are likely to have issues.

            • @HomeAlone: I see your point, but if the seller has agreed to a refund, then the positive rating stands (except for the stuffing around of waiting for it, testing it, only to have to return it).

Mind you, if I had the same experience as you, I'd naturally feel the same.

That's why I prefer to pay an extra ten or twenty bucks and buy from a brick and mortar store (because even brand new ones are faulty more than half the time).

But, if you look at almost any mobile phone listing you will see that they are brand new, but box has been opened for testing or whatever, and people buy them by the hundreds without any issues.

As for the box being open, perhaps like grey import mobiles, they may need to flash it with new firmware or update, to work in Australia.

Things that may need to be changed to be compatible with Australian equipment.

Or the firmware/software in the controller may need to be changed to comply with Australian legislation, regarding the frequency range the controller uses, and the power output of the controller.

But, of course, that's pure speculation on both our parts.

You must have bought all your brand new controllers from this mob.

            • @HomeAlone: Ratings on eBay are easily gamed. My worst experiences are with these 99% highly rated dodgy importers. I go by the worst experiences in reviews of the seller as they are usually closer to the truth.

              • @beyondtool: I always read the negatives too, they are likely to be accurate, as you said.

Nah, no reason for scratches on new products.

Three was a thread on here, ebgames doing something similar. Reselling returns.

Spend the extra and make it legit.

Not just EB Games either. I know for a fact JB HiFi does it too.

But, like you, I was a bit suspicious why they would need to open the box, or why a controller may have a scratch on it.

That's why I posted that in a note, so people can make up their own mind whether the risk (possible tampering with controller) outweighs the benefit (cheaper price, high number of sales, and positive feedback).

In the end, there's always a risk buying from eBay, I'd be more suspicious if they didn't say that the controller "may" have a scratch on it tbh.

Which is why I also posted a link to Umart sale at the bottom of the deal, where you can get one for a couple of dollars more, if you pick up in store (or around ten bucks for delivery).

Also, the good thing about using the Umart website, is that it's possible to price match with some stores, and this would be my preferred method of buying the controller (and the one I would recommend buying).

Not to mention that the Umart deal includes the controller and a USB cable for Windows.

Trouble is, people don't read older posts, which is why I posted the Umart deal here so people can get a controller cheap, and 100% legitimate.

Second hand pretending to be new…. Just like half of Facebook Marketplace.

Why are you diverting us to your old post?

  • I would avoid the older model controllers even if it is genuine, the bumpers on them are more prone to breaking in my experience, had far less problems with the revised ones, may as well spend the extra cash and get a better quality controller.

Brand new… but has to be ‘tested’ before shipping? Dodgy af.
