Original Coupon Deal

For the retro lovers of popcorn making out there! I've seen this come up a few times and although the RRP is a rip off, $399, at $148 Delivered (free delivery for me, not sure on other locations) it is at a good price. Most other places (Dick Smith, HN, Kogan etc.) have it for about $179.

Enjoy!

For the retro lovers of popcorn

I just use a large pot on the stove. Save $148.

    • +3

Or you could do that.. Don't know of any 'old school' theaters/cinemas that had stoves to make their popcorn though? That was my inference for 'retro' :)

      • Sorry, wasn't aware this was for use in theaters/cinemas…

Can we agree that pointless dumb overproduced shit like this is what’s in part consuming our planets resources at an ever increasing rate. Who needs this?

    • +3

      Totally agree.

Most mass produced "stuff" is designed and built to last just past warranty so we must go and buy it again and again fuelling depletion of the world's resources and all for the sake of the almighty dollar.

Human nature to have this that and the other….

      • +6

Just like half the crap people buy on Ozbargin and then say "not sure why I got it but will find a use for it one day"

        • "not sure why I got it but will find a use for it one day"

I can't see myself ever using this though.

        • Exactly, for some reason greed/hoarding/low quality crap is okay here - and when someone says 'bought it but don't need it lol' it gets 10 upvotes..

Can we agree that pointless dumb overproduced shit like this

Can we agree that not everything has to be made (or not made) just to suit you?

If someone is throwing a kids party and want to create a party atmosphere, this could do the job - for multiple parties, as it can be lent to friends. If someone wants to deck out their home theatre to give it that theatre feel, this would work.

is what’s in part consuming our planets resources at an ever increasing rate. Who needs this?

Who needs anything? You were interested in wifi-controlled bulbs. Why would you want to waste the planet's resources? Wifi bulbs consume energy 24/7/365, and they contain many more components that use precious minerals compared to a normal bulb.

You were also interested in an XBox. Who needs that? It consumes a lot of electricity, wastes your time, can contribute to poorer health due to its sedentary nature, and takes up a lot of the planet's resources with its tons of electronic components. Just like how you can pop corn in a pot, you can just go outside and play games with people instead, right?

Or just maybe different things appeal to different people for different reasons, and just because something doesn't appeal to me, does not mean it's "pointless dumb overproduced shit". Meanwhile I'll happily waste the planet's resources the way I want to.

        Preach!

Wow! I go away for a few hours and come back to this.. lol.. classic OzBargain.

Like anything, some people won't like what others love. Personally, I won't be buying this but I thought others might find it appealing and for the price, a good buy. Hence the share.

Each to their own I guess.

Wow. It’s going to be used a maximum of 10 times to “create an atmosphere”. Glad to know you’d sacrifice untold resources for something a kid is going to think off for all of 40 seconds.

Also love the fact you trawl through my history. Nice to meet the very embodiment of the “Mister Gotcha” meme. Funny how those things have actual practical use. An energy efficient globe that will replace a lesser so when it fails, and a multi purpose media device that supplants multiple others.

Meanwhile I'll happily waste the planet's resources the way I want to.

Nice to know you’re a shithead.

        • Also love the fact you trawl through my history.

Why, are you embarassed that you got caught out? A normal LED bulb uses less power than a wifi bulb, and is more reliable as it's simpler. A media device is just as unnecessary as a popcorn maker - plenty of people live perfectly fine without either. You're just choosing to waste the earth's resources for your own personal entertainment.

Nice to know you’re a shithead.

You do realize you just called yourself a shithead, right. :)

@eug: How am I caught out? Sounds like you got mad about your lifestyle choice of buying tons of useless crap and it struck at the core of who you are.

Yep. Totally one and the same. Two peas in a pod. No difference between us whatsoever 👍

              Sounds like you got mad

Yep, sure sounds like I'm the one who's angry. :)

  • Some decent land fill there

  • Looks good that’s all the reason one needs when trying to set up their home theatre

  • going off some of the other comments here. im one of the people who would actually LOVE this. i eat ALOT of popcorn and make it all the time. but ive seen a few reviews on this and wont be buying it because it isnt big enough. and makes less than i would usually make at one time.
so only of this dumb, huge waste of earths resources and over produced land fill stuffer was WAY bigger, would i buy it.
