Ouffer - 3 nights in Le Meridien resort in Bora Bora (French Polynesia) Advice needed!

Hey all,

I'm getting married next January and my fiancee and I have been planning to go to Bora Bora and Tahiti for our honyemoon in February next year.

So imagine my surprise when I come across a daily deals website that has a bargain that could save me thousands on my honeymoon. Currently Ouffer has a 3 night stay at Le Meridien Bora Bora for 58% off. This is a massive saving of at least $1,500.

While this is not the resort we had chosen (we had intended to stay at the Pearl Beach resort), it is our 2nd choice and the price saving that this ouffer has makes this a decision worth considering.

My question: I have never purchased from Ouffer before, and am wary nowadays of the number of group deal sites that have copped flack for not honouring deals, not including items advertised, etc. BUt given how much our honeymoon is going to cost us, is it worth the risk to purchase this deal? How legit is Ouffer? Will I run into issues down the track, and if so, what is their complaints department's service like? Do they even have one?

  • Ouffer was probably the first group buy in Australia (at least discovered on OzBargain). I wouldn't think there would be a problem as long as you get a booking. Perhaps, make sure your date is available before purchasing. The amount of problems with group buy deals is marginally low compared to the total amount of group buys offered. You just hear about the bad ones here.

    Have a link?

  • I've had no problems with Ouffer apart from a movie deal a long way back. I reckon I'd give it a go as LM is a recognised hotel brand.

  • I have bought and used about 7 ouffers with no problem. The difficulty for you is to ascertain whether you will actually be able to use it on your desired dates. They may be able to set them aside for you pending your voucher being issued. It is worth asking. Some do some don't. If they have availability but won't set one aside, you need to book it immediately.

Is Feb high or low season in that part of the world?

Congrts on your upcoming marriage. Careful using too many group buy vouchers for the big day! IT could all go pear-shaped!!!

    • Weddings are one of the most stressful things one can plan.

Personally, I wouldn't use a voucher for a celebrant, a reception venue, a wedding band, a limo, clothing, rings, photographer, cakes or centre pieces but for a hotel, maybe.

Or flowers or caterer or beauty services on the day or for photo days.

Maybe bonbonneires or however they are spelled. Or invitations Something you take care of in advance and if they stuff it up you can still get it done elsewhere.

Or for printing photobooks or prints, etc. They nver seem to have complaints.

    Hey all,

Thanks for the feedback…in the end we decided to not go with the coupon (which is here http://www.ouffer.com/national) for the following reasons:

    • the offer didn't include meals - which in this part of the world can cost around $100-$200 per day pp! Our travel agent's package is all inclusive
    • the offer states that it is a bungalow so we assumed it was an overwater bungalow as this is what we are after. But a look at the questions raised by others (http://www.ouffer.com/faq_discuss/three-nights-in-a-lagoon-b…) showed that it was a beach bungalow only

The dates of validity were perfect for our honeymoon, but as this is the probably the most expensive holiday we'll ever take, we want it to be perfect…even if that means forking out a few thousand $$ extra (good thing I've been saving a bucketload from OzBargain).

Thanks again for your comments, really appreciate the help everyone :)

  • is anyone else finds this thread… I am also booking my honeymoon next april…
I found the agents easytahiti.com have been pretty good, and are cheaper then most coupon prices.

As with most things it's worth research before booking. I remember recently Scoopon (I think) had a deal for a night at the Elephant Safari Park in Bali for $300 (with the 'value' being $600). I was there for a night in Feb this year. I booked direct through their website and paid $230 for the night.
