Durable dress pants?

So I'm after recommendations (if any) of some durable [black] dress pants. I've been buying pants from Kmart/Target but the stitching doesn't last that long, I've also purchased more expensive pants but I run into the same issue, I gather this is because they're not really made for what I do.

I have a fairly active job where I'm bending/crouching down often so I'm wondering if anyone's aware of some better quality pants that will be able to deal with active movement. Black jeans are also a potential but I feel like they'd be worse for me.

Price isn't a huge issue if the quality is good but nothing too extreme.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any insight!

I am a male with a 34-36 waist (if this info is useful)

If your workplace isn't very formal like mine, give hiking pants a go.

I've been rotating 2 pairs from Kathmandu for years (probably about $50 a pair on sale), looks comparable to chinos, but more comfortable, durable and water resistant.

    • It is fairly formal but I might be able to skirt around it with pants that look similar to dress pants. I may have to look into chinos/khakis without any of the side/leg pockets

  • Why would black jeans be worse? Aren't they usually double stitched?

You're right I just feel like they'd be tight around the goods when you crouch down.

I could be wrong of course, I don't wear jeans often, especially in a work environment.

Suggest looking for fabric that has elastine to allow for stretch.

go to a tradies workwear shop

  • Could you get away with chinos instead of slacks?

What sort of work do you do ?

I would also say look at stores like Kathmandu, MacPac, Patagonia, etc. sometimes they have more formal looking pants and they wear very well.

If you are willing to spend the money lululemon's Commission or ABC pants will likely work also. They are stretchy, look professional enough for most workplaces and lululemon I have found excellent on the one occasion something didn't stand the test of time.

    • thank you for the recommendation, haven't heard of the brand before but they look right up my alley.
