Shopping Square $522 Galaxy S II Deal

Copying my post from whirlpool at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1739999&p…

I bought the phone when they had the $522 shipped deal on this phone.

On contacting them it is clear that they are trying to get customers to cancel their orders and accept a refund and the expected date of shipment keeps getting pushed back, with every phone call or email reply going along the lines of "maybe 3 weeks, or would you like an immediate refund?" Since I am sure others on whirlpool also bought the phone, let's see if we can put heads together and put pressure on shopping square.
I think some collective bargaining is needed to make sure they fulfil their orders since they have already taken payment.

Options I can think of:
1) Contact them citing relevant fair trading regulations for bait advertising etc, I need to look into the laws in detail for this.
2) Open many Paypal item not received disputes simultaneously, Paypal will not look upon it kindly if they treat customers like this and they would risk losing paypal approved status and their eBay account.
3) Report their behaviour to the media to put pressure on them to fulfil their orders.

Whilst certainly no fan of shopping square…

    1. They offer goods… they can't supply them immediately… they offer you a refund. What kind of 'bait advertising' laws have been broken?
    2. Opening a PayPal dispute to get your money back…. when they already offering your money back, might be seen as kind of stupid….
    3. The media likes interesting stories….. nobody has lost anything, nothing has been stolen, nobody died…. what do you think their story would be? Late/non delivery? Hardly earth shattering…

Hope you get your phone… but if you don't, it's hardly the end of the world… :)

    • I agree, it's not like they are trying to sell you something different or be particularly misleading.

It seems that their inventory system is not properly linked to their ordering system, like most online retailers out there. The fact that they are offering an instant refund is a good thing.

However, if they start shipping the $575 ones before this, that is dodgy, but those were said to have a long lead time anyway.

      • really? instant refund?????

  • Try flipping to the back of the samsung galaxy s 2 thread. They mention something like there were 150 SG2 but about 500 orders.

  • Hi scynaz, don't feel bad, shoppingsquare have done the samething to me a couple of times now and I am still awaiting my refund from the 29/04/2011, S/square even go as far as re-advertising the same products for higher prices, without having filled previous orders,(I believe that has already been mentioned on the forums), buyers from the first round or discounted prices, are usually offered immediate refunds, but to me, it appears they hold off on the goods, don't deliver and sell them off at higher prices. andy19363 is totally right in what he has stated, however, what gets up my nose is the fact that they have had my money for up to 2 months at a time, Calculate that over say 50 orders or more, and they have a good bit of loot thay can play with at their customers expense. Every email recieved, stated a longer wait before delivery and then when pushed, they refused to supply product even though they had fresh adds on the net, but YES they did offer me a refund, but certainly said they could not supply goods they were still adverstising on their web pages,
I have had a great time shopping with them, but when things started to go wrong (in my opinion), there was no true respect for the client, anyway, in principle, I will never shop with them again. Cheers,
