        Your probably entitled to more rights buying thru eBay/PayPal than directly obtaining a gray import from SS

    The lens doesn't appear to have Image Stabilisation (IS).
    Better off paying a bit more for IS.

    To be fair to OP, price is actually quite decent so I will not Neg, but even if SS is slightly cheaper I will still prefer to buy elsewhere as I had a horrible experiences with SS customer service, so never again! It is not worth my time and trouble!

      Good decision. SS are dodgy.

      You don't want to buy from them and be left hanging, waiting 1 month for delivery or waiting 1 month for a refund!

    Bought this exact camera a year ago from them but found problems with it, i.e. camera dial wasn't working, which made its manual settings useless, and the flash button was stuck. Returned the unit to them and it came back almost two months after with the problems barely fixed. Couldn't be bothered to return it for the second time as the shipping fee via registered mail is expensive (return shipping fee for the first one was also borne by the sender). What I can say is "you buy from them, you dig your own grave..". This is my own personal experience though, it may have been good for others who bought stuff from this company.

      From my understanding reading photography magazines, the 550D isn't discontinued. There's just a newer version (600D) which offers a tad better sensor, and a new flipout screen that made a rework of the button locations neccessary. Some button shapes have also changed.

      The magazines say Canon is still offering the 550D as a cheaper version, with the 600D more like a premium version of the 550D camera with a few added improvements and feature. The 600D hasn't yet superceded the 550D, like the 550D replaced the 500D.
