House Insurance - NSW

Hi Everyone!

I live in a weatherboard house that was built in the 1950s.

I previously have Home and Contents insurance through Budget Direct but received a letter on Friday stating that "cover will no longer be available as my insurance risk falls outside our acceptance criteria."

Have been looking online and on Insurance Council's website for another insurer without any luck.

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

    Quite vague - did Budget provide any further detail as to what has changed since you renewed/took out the insurance? Is there an issue re: the house or the contents component of the insurance or both?

      Thanks you for your contribution.

      "Unfortunately, cover will no longer be available from the current insurer and we are therefore unable to invite renewal because your insurance risk falls outside our acceptance criteria" is in the full text of the letter from Budget Direct.

      Nothing has changed in terms of contents/house/risk.

        Suggest contacting them to clarify what has changed at their end in order to understand why they've declined to renew your cover. May also assist you when looking at other insurers.

    Is it next to a river? Or a forest? Ocean?

      beside a river - elevated though. The river is 3 metres down the bank.

        Is there high water marks on the power poles in your street? ie “Flood level 1965”
