A few days ago, I started getting emails from pounced.com.au who is a group buy company based out of Melbourne. Their first deal was a discount to a company called Bear & Duck. I signed up for a freebie from Bear & Duck 4 years ago! http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/1661
Both Bear & Duck and pounced share the same address Level 4, 100 Flinders street. Has anyone else received these emails? Isn't a bit dodgy for a company to pass on your details to another company who starts spamming you?
Maybe you should have signed up to their sister site Grin & Bear
Just block them and move on with you life
I've moved on. It's not a big deal to unsubscribe. Part of what I do at work is managing our newsletters. We are very careful not to subscribe someone to a specific newsletter that they haven't signed up for. I just think that harvesting dormant emails to another company after 4 years is a bit suss.
I have also started receiving Pounced emails and also did a freebie with that other company a few years ago. Very dodgy, I agree. I am sure I unsubscribed from those emails a few years ago, after receiving the freebie, which I would think would have voided any right for them to sign me up again.
I think CAN SPAM says you can only receive emails from a company or service you know about and opted in. Since you did sign up for Bear & Duck that may fall into the guidelines.
