    Budget $1800

If you can afford $1800, you can afford $2149

Don't act like you're using every last dollar in the piggy bank just for a phone

Bruv every cent counts. I budgeted for this more than 24 months ago.

But if your using trs it sounds like a holiday coming up too?

Dude aslo travelled in August. He got money, he just don't want to shell it out

        • He's in the aviation industry

        • No I have to travel for work unfortunately

      • I budgeted for this more than 24 months ago.

        Convene emergency budget meeting.

        Cite the following -
        - Trump trade war with China
        - Devaluation of Australian dollar
        - Sluggish economic growth
        - Interest rate cuts to historic low levels

If that doesn't get a budget increase, backflip and state that it is important in these times to be prudent with spending on luxury items.

      • On a $100k+ salary?
        No you didn't

        • -1

Salary - $100k After all taxes ($105k before taxes)

Op only pays $5k in taxes. How is that possible?

Or to put it another way, if you can't afford a $2149 phone (and it still blows my mind why anyone would drop 2k on a phone) should you really be buying an $1800 phone

Especially if you need 24 months to budget for such a purpose

      • I don’t think it’s about being able to afford it - it’s just the amount we have budgeted to spend on tech. And I just don’t wish to spend more than what the excel sheet allows

        • you're talking $5 a month difference between $1800 and the price you posted ($1921) over 24 months

its a stupid amount to spend on a phone in the first place, but don't pretend like $5/mth for your 'budgeted' period is going to make any difference
dumbest thing ive heard in a while that $5 a month on the budget is too much, but a ~$2k phone is perfectly affordable :/

          • @SBOB: Hey man I didn’t call you dumb. Or said anything about paying over 24 months. What’s up with the personal attack? No one taught you manners or respect ?

              @CI:

I budgeted for this more than 24 months ago.

you posted you budgeted over 24mths
the difference between these 2 prices over a 2 year period is like $5 a month…. for the purchase of the top of the line (crazily priced) iphones

not a personal attack, its definitely up there with one of the dumbest 'bargain' posts i've seen.

            • @CI: SBOB is right that $5 is a trivial amount compared to the TCO of the good.

BTW hearing someone say something dumb doesn't make it a personal attack.

  • That's the budget of my entire family

  • Budget $1800

    Get the non Max model.

Can also look in the classifieds section or gumtree for JB Hi-Fi gift cards that are 5-10% off.

Gets the next size down. That starts at $1899. Take all your savings off that and you will have change from your $1,800 budget.

256gb storage is more about dick swinging than it is about anything else. Even if it was loaded to the hilt with apps, video and music, you could never play, watch or listen to all of it in one sitting. Hell, you couldn’t do it in a week. And outside of the storage, the phone is identical. Just tell people it’s the bigger storage if that’s what makes you happy.

  • If JB have them with TRS and fairly easy to find 10% off gift cards would be my route .

  • Ausluck has the 512GB for $2399. 20% of is $1919. 1% from ShopBack and TRS should bring it under $1800?

    • WS states sold out .

      Back stocks ?

    • $300 max discount

    Oppo ax5 brother 200 bucks

  • And I thought Australia is on recession…

  • I'm shopping for one too but I'm going to wait till Black Friday sales and see what there is. So far the cheapest I've found is via staff discount at Officeworks, if you know someone who works there you'll be under budget after TSR.
