DJI Mavic Mini Fly More Combo $719.10 ($669.10 with Amex offer) Instore Pickup In @ Georges Cameras Sydney

830

I believe this is the lowest it has been so far if using instore pickup in Sydney (+$9.95 dollars for shipping). Missed out on the ebay offer a couple of days ago and was waiting for the price to come down more before my Chrsitmas visit to TRS!

Edit: Looks like they price matched this deal posted 12 hours ago in Johnny Appleseed
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495110

Comes down a further $50 with Amex offer ($50 off $500 spent on Georges Cameras online and in-store)

Check your Amex offer, if you are targeted, you will have further $50 off, that would be a good price if you can do TRS

    • $50 off $500 spend.

    • Just realized! That is even better thanks!

  • Shipping starting at $9.95

    • Added that to the title thanks for pointing out

  • Great price with the amex offer. I called the shop and they will be getting the stock in two weeks just an FYI.

    • That is interesting I wonder if the fly more combo will be delayed for all retailers. Seems to be shipping in a few weeks even from the DJI store, not sure I can manage to wait that long.

  • Noob question, should I get the mini or the air? The pro is out of my price range, so I think it’s between the mini and air for me.

    • +1

Do you need 4K? -> Air
Do you need the portability? -> Mini

      • Mini is a game changer for drone portability, this thing is tiny, most likely will be DJI best selling drone.

    • I had the air before and sold it for double this price a couple of months ago. I´d say they are quite similar but the mini wins in price, portability and battery (3omin vs 21min max filght time). Air has active tracking, sturdier and slightly better quality but to the non-professional eye I´d say they look almost the same. Check some comparisons in youtube as but I would go for the mini.

      • +1

does not Mini have active tracking too?

      • +1

Not sure why you got negged, the Mavic Air is a lot more expensive (and will require CASA registration from next year).

I just picked up a cheap DJI Spark off eBay, seem to be a lot of people flogging them off to upgrade to the Mavic Mini. Kinda surprised that the Mavic Mini doesn't have object avoidance.

        • They did everything to keep the weight below 250g (it's 249g) which is under the requirement for many countries (eg US) to require a licence. So I imagine they took out everything they could to keep that weight down but still provide a good product.

Unfortunately, the limit is 100g in Australia.

          • +2

@MrBear: No, it will be 250g in Australia too. https://www.casa.gov.au/drones/register

            • @xyron: Cool, thanks @xyron. The info I found must have been old.

              • +1

@MrBear: You're thinking about the 100g limit to take off within 5.5km of an airport

          • @MrBear: I might be reading it wrong but the keyword is 'and'. Weight 250g or less and fly indoor that exempt from registration..

            • @Dotherightthing: You're reading it wrong. It says "under 250g and those only flown indoors", so it's two separate categories. Without "those" you'd be correct.

Right now it's saying under 250g and those over 250, but only flown indoors are exempt

              • @0lllllll0: I see what you are saying however they should use 'or' instead of 'and' if that's the case but anyway all good..

              • @0lllllll0:

Right now it's saying under 250g and those over 250, but only flown indoors are exempt

What if it is exactly 250g? :) :)

      • You don’t find object/person tracking to be a massive separation between the two?
Potential to introduce it, but then it would make the air luck lustre compared. Hence why I believe they haven’t… and will hold off long as possible if ever
        I just don’t know haha

    • Mavic Air also does raw photo and has several other photo modes. Mini only has jpeg with single shot and panorama.

That's the main reason I'm holding onto my air

  • Ordered. Thanks.

  • Theres a 5% off code but not working

  • Ordered thanks op

going to wait till real people get them and test them.

Price is good, shame no follow me function.

    mixo

  • Curious, since it is a pre-order and they don't ship it for another two weeks, what date will it have on the tax invoice? Reason I ask is I'm flying out to the United States on 3rd of January and wanted to make sure I'll still be eligible for TRS which I believe is 60 days? Actually I might still be okay as the 3rd of Jan is technically 55 days from now so either way I should be good.

    • Same question, I want the invoice date after 20th Nov

      • Normally on invoice it's on the day you confirmed the order..?

If it's digital invoice you can always "tweak" it anyway.

        • Yes and commit "tax fraud"

  • The standalone in JB preorde is at $599. Is this fly more kit better value?

    • +3

Definitely go for fly more kit, it's a no brainer.

    • +1

      Especially for the batteries.

  • Thanks! Was able to get a JB to match this (I'd much rather deal with them!)

    • +1

How did you go about this? Are you in Sydney?

      • +1

Go to JB and show the web page on your phone. They likely will call Georges for stock. If there IS stock available then JB will match.

      • I called around a few places until one said yes :)

  • Just looking at Sony lenses in the Georges sale. Will Sony Online match the prices of Georges? So I can take advantage of the $100 cashback with AmEx.

    • Online is hit and miss. Physical stores price match. It was $150 off a few months and traditionally Sony have their own separate cash backs around this time of year. So you have the opportunity to get a double discount.

  • -2

If you can get JB price match do it, Georges suck.

    • +2

But buying in JB you cannot get the Amex Cashback

    • Why ?

    • I tried, no go especially when the first shipment is already sold out(combo).

    • Why do they suck? I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

      • +1

Well the fact they don’t even mention this is a pre order and they don’t have this item in stock is pretty average. Plus they’ve taken full funds off credit card and haven’t even contacted me (order placed Tues). So they’re now sitting on hundred of thousands of other peoples dollars. Pretty shady behaviour

  • +1

When will Bunnings start selling this?

    • +3

Better question WHEN will they start Price-erroring this?

    • +2

I emailed them about a week ago and this was the response I got.

"I have emailed our supplier to find out this information about the DJI Mavic Mini Drone, out store will more that likely not stock it but you will be able to Special Order it in if our supplier has it. As soon as our supplier gets back to us we will email you with their response."

Hopefully they get it in, keen to use that voucher on it..

  • I can't seem to check out on Chrome and Firefox on android.

  • What's the cheapest option for a display screen for the handset? Thinking maybe an older model Samsung Galaxy or pixel etc off eBay maybe?

    • With the old app, iOS devices tended to perform better. Not sure about the new app.

  • Thank you. Ordered with AMex :)

For others, there is a PAYPAL Amex offer of 20% refund (up to $40). DUe to postage of $9.95, the Paypal/Amex offer will be very similar if bought from the other discounted dealer (JA) as they offer free postage.

    • FYI, I believe the PAYPAL Amex offer is targeted

      • Yes, it probably is but it appeared in my Amex offer tab when I logged in to make sure the Georges offer was there.

  • Wow, nice deal! Pitty for me no Amex and Melbourne based:(

    Anyone help a bruva out?

    • +1

      You can pay delivery

      • +1

not sure why i was just negged, i thought the Roosta didn't realise you could pay for delivery. How is someone supposed to help him out?

        • i got cha brother

    • -1

      You're not my brother!!!

  • Thanks for this - anybody had any issues at all with drone batteries on carry on?

    • Never had a problem. Carry on has 3x DJI Spark + 3 x Go Pro 4 + 3 x Nikon P900 batteries. 1 iPad Pro 12 + 2 iPhones Plus + 2 x power bank 20k ma + Bose blue tooth earphones. Been to USA, HongKong, Fiji, Singapore and Philippines with my Gadgets.

    • I think the regulation isn't targetting many batteries, but large batteries.

So, you can carry on a bunch of batteries, but they restrict single high capacity batteries.

Also, it can't be in checked baggage anyway so 🤷‍♂️

  • For those that ordered, did you receive an order confirmation email from Georges? My credit card has been charged but I've received nothing from Georges. Ordered yesterday mid morning…

    • Yes I definitely received an order confirmation.

      • Apparently I missed the first round of stock - so approx 2 week wait for next stock to arrive which is why I hadn’t received confirmation.

  • So assuming i order right now, what is the ETA i should expect? I can wait 2 weeks but i can't wait a month, and i think these will be popular this christmas season

  • +1

Just got a call. Probably 1 month wait for the fly more combo. The normal mini you can get it today :(

    • Poor form. I just ordered and no mention on the Georges website that the item isn’t in stock and available!

    • I ordered just the normal mini pretty much straight away they just got back to me to say 2-4 week wait :( so same deal fly more or drone only.

      • +1

They've taken the money though! (actually taken, not just a pre auth)

        • +1

Let's hope George is not down at the track putting it all on 7

      • Got an e-mail today saying it's shipping today and should get it in 2-3 Days (I'm in Perth)

        • Recieved mine today :)

  • Can someone please tell whether I will receive the $50 cashback from Amex if I pay by Amex through PayPal. Thanks

    • +1

You won´t. Has to be through Amex card.

  • Been advised by the store today that they have received over 160 orders, no ETA available at this stage, can't guarantee if stock will be available by Christmas!

    • +1

Yet they’ve taking over $100,000 of people’s money when they have no idea when (or even if) they’ll get stock. Won’t be using Georges again. Wasn’t even any mention on their site that it was a pre order or not in stock

  • Has anyone confirmed whether this is FCC or CE for range? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495110#comment-7942264

    • +1

People on Whirlpool have reported FCC serial numbers. Haven't seen anything beyond that

  • +1

I picked up a fly more today from JB Parramatta. No order they just had a few arrive in stock today. They happily accepted the price match from Georges too ($719)

    • Mutiple JB stores in Brisbane also have the fly more in stock today at $799, too bad George's deal has ended and can't do price match with JB now..

    • any chance you can post up a receipt so we can price match? TIA

  • +2

Have contacted George's, supposedly if you haven't received a call or email you're in the first shipment and they are expecting that next week and then will express post out for next day delivery

    • I'm going to ignore all my calls and emails until I get my mini then . :) . is the call or email supposedly tell us that it's delayed? I don't think I've been contacted…. fingers crossed i'll get it next week….

      • +2

Yea that's what they explained. I'm currently still pestering them to get an exact date of when the stock is coming in. So the employee is supposedly calling up to find out where it is. And then I will get written confirmation from them so if it doesn't come I have something to fall back on

  • guess i should go in and hassle them as well :) . (they are going to hate us…..)

    • +2

Got exact confirmation now. They are getting their shipment from the supplier shipped tomorrow. Which will take 4 days to come in. Then they will express post out

      • nice work!

      • awesome…. I've got mine for pick up in Sydney so hopefully i'm in this first batch…. purchased it on the 10/11/2019…..

        • Same here… I haven't heard anything from Georges yet so who knows??

          • @bennyboy: the wait is killing me…. still no word from Georges yet…..

            • @wippy: I know right… I was hoping to have it before this weekend but that looks like it isn't going to happen.

  • I ordered my on 9th November when the deal first started, and George told me I will be getting it next week. If you ordered it after 10th November, you will have to wait for a while.

    • did they confirm that today? when i checked with them earlier in the week, they said that my one is one of the earlier batch… but then I don't know if they are just saying that to get me off their back….

      • if you ordered yours during the first 2 days of the sale then it is highly likely you will receive yours next week. They said they will have the stock from their supplier either today (22/11/19) or next Monday/Tuesday the latest.

  • just contacted them. I order on 10th and now I'll have to wait for another 2-3 wks…

So we are receiving shipments of 60 units for the next couple of weeks, and you are approx. 140 on the list. I apologise for the further delay on this, we are trying our best to allocate as many of these as possible. It’ll be around another 1-2 weeks before we allocate this to your order.

    • I just contacted them right now, they have had 60 units come in already and allocating them out. Supposedly the person on the chat said they had leftover stock, so i suggest you contact them and try to get yours pushed ahead.

Shipping notices will occur at 5pm.

  • I ordered mine on the first day of the sale (09/11/2019) and it is being shipped today / tomorrow :)
