  • I think I saw this exact phone at Woolworths for $129 outright. I'll need to confirm that either tonight or tomorrow when i go shopping.

    • serious?

      • yeah man… i am about 95% sure.. remember thinking it was a good deal

they also had the Huawei "Sonic" 3.2" for $189 i think

ill check tonight… man so troublesome getting these confirmations/photos for you guys

        • serious?

        • Really? Unlocked?

        • +4

yah, wait until i can confirm first.

it might be locked, i don't know… didn't look that carefully coz i had someone yelling "get the basket, get the basket" in my ears

        • +10

I went to Woolies just then. My apologies it was the LG Optimus ME that was advertised.

Didn't know there were so many different verstions of the Optimus phone.

        • +11

+1 for checking, and not just going "Cheaper at woolies [NEG]"

        • serious? it's $248 @ DSE :S

Thanks uniquemobiles for bringing this deal in again…and got myself one at once as I missed out the last deal offer:) Have been reading the technical reviews comparing this with HTC Wildfire and like the better screen resolution and better speed, although the camera hasn't got a flash. But then at this price, and with its features, I'm one happy camper. Cheers!

    • +1

Also important to note, the lg does not support flash in the browser, whereas the htc wildfire does. Maybe important for some, and this point is usually overlooked by many.

  • Does anyone know, how are they performance wise as compared to the sony x10.
Though sony one is locked, but I am also with optus.

    • +1

The actual x10 (not the x10mini or mini pro) has a higher res screen and a much faster processor.

  • +1

x10 is more powerful, but would be much more expensive wouldn't it? I was going to ask how it compares to the Sony x8 ($99 on optus Prepaid right now: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/49504) as I'm on optus also.

    • yea. sorry for that. it was X10 mini to compare or X8

  • I bought this last time offer on the table is this $1 cheaper?
Just checked is $1 cheaper gggrrrrr…lucky I bought it via credit card that will get me the difference back if the price changes within a month or so!

Arrived in next day! Still have not setup for folks yet, but plan on Wednesday
Got the cover/car charger and screen protector coming via ebay for $5

"Also important to note, the lg does not support flash in the browser, whereas the htc wildfire does. Maybe important for some, and this point is usually overlooked by many."
I read in APC August that Adobe are converting flash to HTML5 or something under pressure from app developers or something????? Does this help for future use of phone?

Oh and 2.3 Gingerbread is like just about here in OZ as europe now has it for this phone!

All questions on blog Whirlpool thread!

    • what credit card is that?

    • +1

I read in APC August that Adobe are converting flash to HTML5 or something under pressure from app developers or something?

What's been happening is that Google is supporting HTML5 video on YouTube which frees browsers from having to support Flash to view YouTube clips.

      • does this only enable flash video content for websites? I had a quick browse on the lg and noticed alot of sites came up with blank white space for places they had flash content, especially things like forms/animations which i assume are flash based. Also i found some sites did not work correctly (e.g. could not click links on the page and they looked distorted)

        • +3

It's only for Flash video and may not be adopted by sites other than YouTube. If you want to play Flash games or view animated greetings cards for example you are out of luck. Flash video is only one use of the Flash technology; the Flash engine is a general purpose client side graphics engine.

        • cheers, thanks for the info.

  • +2

This is a great phone. Bought it last time and really happy with it.

You don't need screen protector as it comes with one from the factory.

  • +1

Both 28 degrees and Plat cards

"Free Guaranteed Pricing scheme. If you make a purchase and then see it advertised in print at a lower price, you can claim back the difference within 21 days of your purchase." Its within day 21 ha ha ha ha

Oh I posted deal on whirlpool Uniquemobiles and told buyers to tell ya I sent them!(not sure if they will get pulled by mod….but may make a few sales :)

    • +1

28 degrees? plat cards? what bank?

      dude i don't know what you're saying :(

      never owned a c/card

      someone translate

    • +1

if you got it on the 28 degrees card i'm pretty sure you paid more of the shopper protection (1% of purchase) than for the saving you are making ($1), i would wait till it drops more to claim?

  • +2

    Hi.

Just trying to buy this, and when I checkout I'm being charged for delivery.

Has anyone else completed the purchase without shipping?

    Cheers.

EDIT: I'm an idiot: I had other things in my 'Shopping Cart'. Disregard idiot: Acquire phones!

      • +1

        Nice one!

I've already paid for the phone though. Any chance I could amend the order to add a cover?

Either way, it's still a good deal.

        Cheers!

  • Great phone. I own it since October last year and very happy with it. Back then I paid $320 for it, which I think was still a good price for this kind of phone. It came with a cradle so I can use it in a car as GPS too.

    • Is this one from Unique mobile comes with Cradle?

      • Not that I'm aware of, I didn't get one.

        • NO did not come with one. Good phone but
Screen little small especially the keyboard for those with bigger finger.

    • I paid $270 I think from Crazy Johns about a year ago with no cradle. Good phone, battery life not bad, struggles playing Angry Birds Rio.

  • +9

I got ripped off last time you had this deal, paid $159!

    • +1

as part of good deal u pay 1 dollar for his coke?

  • are you guys gonna do ne specials on the galaxy tab 10.1?

  • Many thanks uniquemobiles!
I missed out last time but managed to sneak my order in this time :)

  • My 3G doesn't work when I bought this phone last time. I have tried multiple sim cards and still no connectivity.

    • have you enabled it in the settings? there is an actual widget which enables/disables the 3g internet connection. Try menu > settings > wireless and networks > Mobile network (make sure that is checked)
3g should then work, you can also add a switch to turn it on and off from your home screen.

Forgot to mention you will also have to set up your network settings which you can usually get your carrier to sms to you, otherwise just google your carrier and data settings for android and you should find out how to set it up.

    • I had the same problem, but it's fixed now. Check out http://ausdroid.net/apns/

      • works now. Thank you.

  • bought one for the mother as she needed a new phone that was loud. couldn't be better timing!

  • any cheap android with a good camera?

  • This phone is good for the price, the only complaint I have is the slow responsiveness of the touch screen.

  • Hi uniquemobiles, I need a phone that I could also use as a wifi device for my laptop. I'm on the Telstra network, will this phone work ok as I notice in the specs it says its not compatible on the next g network.
    thanks

    • Correct if you are using Telstra Next G this phone wil not be compatible.

    • FYI look for any android phone with froyo 2.2 installed on it, then you can use it as a wifi hotspot. The htc wildfire they sell has next g support and has 2.2 installed so would fit your requirements!

  • I bought this phone from Unique Mobiles last time it was on special. I can't complain for the price, it's a good phone.

I do feel however the touchscreen is not particularly smooth and responsive. The main issue is pinch-to-zoom while browsing websites. Don't get me wrong, it's usable but I was expecting a better experience. I don't know, it may be a result of the factory installed screen protector, I haven't tried it without. I'm also comparing the experience to an iPhone 3GS which is super-smooth, maybe I'm expecting too much.

I would be interested in other users' comments.

    • Can't complain but then I don't use it much for web browsing, too small. More for mail and calendar. Maybe gingerbread will improve things.

  • Hi Uniquemobiles, its coming up as out of stock. Did i miss this deal again???

    • +1

Yes, u should check ozbargain every few hours :p

      • +1

Or get a smartphone and check OzB everywhere, even in the loo. :)

    • Hi There, Yes sorry we had sold out of the first 200 pcs. We have just received a small allocation of new stock. Enjoy. We dont expect them to last the day

  • Or you could pay the same for a similar spec with a much better screen:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5186644/Tra…

    • This handset must be purchased with £10 airtime

Plus with delivery it will end up being a fair bit more.

May also not be upgradeable to Android 2.3.

  • 6 days later… am still waiting for a Consignment number for the HTC Wildfire from there previous offer.

  • Ordered late yesterday afternoon, received after lunch today - pretty quick! very impressed with it so far.

  • Mine arrived today but when there is a Virgin mobile icon when i starts up and also some other virgin icon inside.
How can I get rid of this? Is this considered as an unlocked or locked to Virgin? Do you guys got the same thing as me?

I still could not get a connection with my Optus 3G too.. trying to find the way to set the internet connection right now. Any suggestion please? Thanks.

    • +1

They all have Virgin Mobile branding and pre-installed apps that can't be removed (but phone is not locked to Virgin). Only way to remove would be to load a custom ROM.

For 3G setup go to Settngs > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > New APN. Enter Name and APN details and press Save.

    • +1

You can remove the Virgin icon on the home page by dragging it to the trash, but you can't remove the Virgin splash screen or the Vibe bookmark in the browser. However you can set a different homepage in the browser.

    • Thanks everyone. I managed to set up the internet already :)
