  • That phone came out a very long time ago (in the electronics world)

Over a year old but still beats a lot of current phones within the $50 price range

      • +3

        Issue is availability.
I would buy one for $49 if it was available at my local.

      • +5

3 years ago. it was slow when it came out. which is a shame because it looks great.

      • -1

It would've been better had it been the "Sony Xperia X".
The predecessor was actually better than the successor this time around.

…not to mention, the Sony Xperia X (and XA2) supports SailfishOS, strangely the XA does not.

Ahh, closest is Geelong. Not that bad.

Next closest is Port Macquarie, not exactly the time to visit is it?

  • -1

Instore at Port Macquarie (328.59km away).

    • Instore at Geelong (2676.04km away).

      • Buy from eBay and use the price match to get the difference back

    • And you might not be able to get back for a while.

    • Commencing my walk from Brisbane now, cheers.

  • +1

    Closest to me is Geelong.
    Unfortunately I’m in Perth.
    Any cheap flights???

    • +3

As someone who lives in Geelong, just stay at Perth. You not missing out on much

    • Geelong has an airport (Avalon).. unfortunately no flights to Perth.

  • +2

There are actually only 2 stores in the whole country that have these. Probably should be merged with low quantity thread.

  • I highly doubt there's 5 at each store. There's probably 2.
That's assuming Port Macquarie and Geelong are the only places, which judging from this is true.

  • It has Android 8 too…

  • 380km from my location.

Got one over a year ago from that Woolworths clearance deal for $99 already knowing it was a $25 Vodafone online unlock.

Pretty small slim light nice phone that has all the Australian 3G/4G bands and on Noughat performs pretty good with 2Gb ram/16GB rom. The battery is small and only just gets you through a short day, and for me all the Sony bloat was annoying and tricky to disable/turn off, but can manage.

For under $100 good value, but for this price pretty hard to beat, especially if unlocked.

I also bought one from that sale. Very soon i dropped it on the ground and the screen cracked, but it seems All working. Less than a year, the camera can only get blurred photo. I went to wws, the said they just sale, i have to contact vodaphone or sony. Vodaphone asked me to send the phone in, but then refused to fix the camera because the screen crack. I did't contact sony. About another half year passed, the camera seems cured itself. I could get better photo, though not good as when i first get it. Now the phone is mostly sitting in a drawer, $25 is too expensive for me to unlock it.

What do you mean cracked but seems all working? I have picked up a few of these for family and friends a while back, 2 people broke their screens, I think as its such a thin phone, and it's plastic front and back from memory, it can flex quite a bit which means the LCD might crack without the actual housing cracking. If anyone gets one a case is highly recommended. Apart from that no issues reported back, people generally liked the phone and the camera is good enough for most people

Actually just checked gsmarena and it does say scratch resistant glass, this spurred me to take the one I have here out, sure enough the lead us damaged and no broken glass, very stranged, could be just impacts through the side of the housing

        • "Jackson" lol your turn now, What do you mean, "sure enough the lead us damaged and no broken glass"?

Do you mean the LED is damaged and not the outer glass screen?

          • +1

@ozhunter68: LCD :) damaged as in looks like the crystals have bled through but not broken glass. I have never known glass to bend much so it must be that the rest of the housing isn't stiff enough

            • @Jackson: Had that happen to a laptop screen once. I personally was never rough with it treating my laptops really carefully and no sign of a scratch or even the slightest of marks on the screen or outside cover.

Never happened to any of my phones though, although I have had an Acer Tablet Screen go crazy, but that's another story lol.

        • The outer glass screen

Tempted to use that as my tinder pic for the lulz.

nice burner phone, now I can be just like the guys in spy movies!!!

  • +2

Just a heads up. No accelerometer on this phone. So some games and Hungry Jacks shake and win app might not work.

    • You don't actually need to shake tho

      • +1

They finally added a button or similar to the app? Didn't work when I first got my Sony.

      • +1

Only androids. iPhone still needs to shake 🤣

        • +1

All iPhones have the accelerometer though… well at least from the 3G from memory.

        • +2

iPhone doesn’t need to shake either, just tap a button and off you go

  • Does the Ps4 remote play work well with this phone?

    • PS4 remote play is available to use on any Android phone now anyway

  • +1

Good luck putting in use the small 2300mAh battery. From the factory those batteries come around that number, but it can be as low as 2100mAh.

  • Mega forehead

  • Even when it was considered an OK deal for $150, I found it to be excruciatingly slow. If you install any apps, be prepared to be warned of low storage very quickly as well.

    • +2

I had 3 of them couple of years ago. I solved the speed issues by "Disabling" all the builtin apps and uninstalling any that it lets you (I assume these phones are partially subsidized by these shitware peddlers).

The phone still boots up very slowly, but it's usable once booted.

I doubt there'd be a new (as in brand-new from the shop, not a new model) phone this good for $50.

That description from op sounded like an ad from 1999

Whats the memory and storage sizes?

    • Ok for Android 6/7 phone. RAM is 2GB ( +-637mb free for me ) and ROM is 16GB with around 8GB usable ( max ) after deleting Sony/unwanted apps and data.

Add a fresh new launcher such as Oreo Launcher and phone still feels nice to use keeping it lean and clean lol.
