I went in to try pricematch the Studio Proper deal, but saw the regular ticketed price is now lower, Woohoo! It's the lowest price I've seen in recent times from a bricks n mortar store. Silver, Gold and Space Grey colours available.

Depends what you use it for… if it’s just for little kids who just watch the same 3 movies and play the same games, I don’t think 128GB will make a difference.

  • +1

Both OW and Harvey Norman have this unit for the same price. OW just matched their price to HN this morning, I was too late to do a price match.

Hence I wonder if anyone knows where I can get it cheaper to ask OW for price match - 5%?

    • +4

Price match at JB and pay with discounted e-gift cards (i.e., buy gc from youi)?

      • Actually ..good idea, thank you :-)

      • +3

Price match at JB is hit and miss. You will risk having $400 JB gift cards not knowing what to do with if it doesn’t price match.

        • True. But if you are to get discounted GC from RACQ then you can buy eGift cards after you talk to the JB guy about price match and they give a product with paying amount paper then you go to counter to pay. While walking to counter, you can go to racq website and buy eGift cards. I have done this for MacBook price match at jb.

  • This is the latest ipad version right?
For someone that is looking for light browsing and reading ebooks would they really notice a diffence with ipad air?

    • +2

Not likely to notice a difference. Main differences are the A10 CPU vs A12 in the Air and the laminated display on the Air (no gap between the LCD and digitiser). I have a 2018 iPad with the A10 and it's never skipped a beat or felt slow when browsing or going through my PDF textbooks. Apple's done an amazing job with iOS (now iPadOS)!

      • +1

The air 2 has the laminated display

        • Sorry, you're right, I was talking about the 2019 Air (also laminated).

  • Any way to get an Apple store to pricematch this?

    • I don't see why not, call in your store and ask.

I bought an iPhone 5 years ago and the rep actively looked for lower price online then matched. Outstanding move but again, depends on how proactive/help the crew memeber is.

Also - why u want from Apple store? I assume for the direct warranty?

      • +1

free returns if you don't like it?

      • +2

I want 2 weeks "return for no reason" warranty from Apple store.
We are currently deciding if we need a Surface Go or an iPad, so we will give a test ride to see what suits us better.

        • You don’t think Apple will price match. But you can try.

          • @fossilgem: I was in apple store earlier this morning and they said they would only price match up to 10%. The prices by HN and OW were discounted over 10%.
I just managed to get OW to price match Big W on the 128gb version as Big W had it for $1 cheaper.
            So ended up paying $556

            https://www.bigw.com.au/product/apple-ipad-7th-gen-10-2-wi-f…

            • @jentb0y: OW didn't mind that there is no stock of the 128GB in any Big W and not available for delivery?

              • @snuke: there was stock in Coffs Harbour 2450 so that satisfied who i was on the phone with.

            • @jentb0y: Great

  • What is a good case for this for a 6 year old using it in school?

    Otterbox Defender?
    Griffin Survivor?
    UAG Metropolis?

    Appreciate any help!

    • +2

6 year old using it in school

That's fked up.. what for? Is that how they teach nowadays?

      Sorry I couldn't help

If thinking about very young kids and screen consumption at school is useless then I'm guilty.

Also being required to spend hundreds on an iPad for a kindy/prep student is not much of a bargain! They should be developing other handson childhood skills.

You can't put a price on Eye health either.

      • I've seen a few of your comments around and I'm wondering why you think this is so bad.

Technology has moved on by an insane amount in the past few years and it's normal and amazing that kids are able to adopt technology like this. I'm in my early 20's and I already feel like kids are outpacing me in their ability to use technology and I literally work in developing for and creating this type of tech.

I don't really see the difference in the devices I had access to only 10-15 years ago and things like the iPad. At the end of the day, what I had access to (gameboys, early laptops) were arguably more useless than an iPad, especially when it came to school/entertainment. We had to deal with these near unusable "smartboard" screens that would hinder our learning moreso than aid in it, and I can see (and have seen) kids adopt this technology to greatly improve their capabilities.

I don't really see how kids being glued to their iPads is any worse than when I was glued to a book or my gameboy. If anything, they're gaining far more information at a more rapid pace than any of us ever will.

I had the GS on my iPhone 6, great case. Never known they make one for the ipad too.

I bought a cheap case for less than $10 from Amazon and it lasted a year. Pm me if you want the link

    • My daughter's school recommends the STM Dux series, which has been drop tested so I would go for that.

  • +1

Why don’t Apple just label this with the year instead of “gen 7”?

    • You should see the internal name for this iPad! Its even more confusing. The 7th Gen iPad is called 'iPad Educational'. You'll see this whe you tried to download IPSW files for Apple Configurator 2.

    • I hate their naming system for iPad too.

If anybody else is interested here is the list of iPads / Air / Mini / Pro's and different inches, with release Dates -

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPad#History

        Most current line-up are:
        iPad 7
        iPad Air3
        iPad Mini 5
        iPad Pro3 11"
        "iPad Pro3 12.9"

They also had iPad Pro1 9.7" and Pro2 10.5" at some point!

        • +1

Also all previous gen iPads were 9.7" until this iPad 7 (2019) came up with 10.2". And iPad Air 1 & 2 were of 9.7" but Air 3 is 10.5" . Thanks Apple!

  • Thanks

  • Got one. Thanks

  • Can someone recommend a hard case for Year 7 student, something bullet proof but not crazy heavy…

    • -1

      Why a hard case?
Anyway make sure it can function as a stand.
School provided a leather-look with the 2-fold style cover it works..

    • +1

My daughter's school recommends the STM Dux series, which has been drop tested so I would go for that.

  • I bought one of these two days ago for $525, damn it. Anyone know if OfficeWorks will entertain the idea of a refund of the difference? I'm guessing no. Nothing on their site about a post-purchase price guarantee unfortunately.

    • +1

Do you still have the receipt? Rebuy the exact same one for the lower price, take the previous docket and the unopened ipad and ask for a refund.

      • +2

This will likely be difficult as there could be a unique code on each iPad stated on the receipt.

        • Yeah, the serial number is on the receipt. Thanks anyway.

    • They have a change of mind return policy for 30 days if you show the receipt and have the original packaging etc.

    • I only found one dot point for you. If 'compensation for reduced value' sounds like what it sounds… not much clarification..

a refund for the unused portion or compensation for its reduced value.

  • Did anyone managed to get one from MediaForm eBay for $363?

    • I saw lots of complaints about cancelled orders, so I’d say no.

  • +2

This is the same price at Harvey Norman, except Harvey Norman gift cards can be bought for 7.5% off, for a further discount.

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/apple-ipad-wi-fi-32gb-space-…

    https://shop.redeemyourgiftcard.com.au/
    Use coupon code "shopper".

That being said, can anyone here confirm if multiple e-gift cards can be used in a single online transaction, or whether the shopping portal allows one?

    • How do you checkout with those gift cards?
"shopper" works to see card, but it asks for email on check out, or sign in, but I can't see a register option.

  • Do you reckon this is a better buy than some of the older Pro models? There don't seem to be as many of the old ones around, obviously, so this seems much easier.

  • +2

Just had OW price beat Big W who have it advertised at $466.

  • Anyone know of any deals coming up on Ipad mini's?

  • +5

Just paid $442.70 on phone with Officeworks (pricebeat BigW $466), store pickup within 2 hours.

    • Great deal. Ringwood wouldn’t let me buy over the phone, said I had to go into a store.

    • Thanks price beat officeworks $442.70 !

  • Thanks bought one too price beat at Officeworks

  • Yeh Thanks, just pricebeat at Officeworks $442 Awesome!

  • Awesome. Thanks. Just did a price beat at office works. The guy was mumbling he couldn't find the exact model number on big W web site, other office working said it was ok.

  • +1

Price beat at office works $442.70. No question asked

  • FML I just ordered a click and collect for this at OW.
you think they will let me do the price beat if I have not collected it yet?

    • I went in last night to pick mine up (had to order it in the day before as they were out of stock of that colour). Showed them the Big W deal on my phone and after a quick chat to each other agreed to do the price beat due to it being Black Friday this week etc.

Effectively they returned it then repurchased it at the lower price and refunded the difference.

      • Just got it done. The lady at the front desk was b&&Ching about why bother for a buck but then I pushed her on it and was ok to do the price beat.

The guy doing the price check was actually really good.
        Paid 442. Ozbargain FTW!

  • +2

Just picked up mine. pretty sure I heard him say officeworks have changed their price now so no more price beat

    • +1

Yep they have, I was going to price beat it this morning but couldn't. Ended up getting discounted Woolworths eGift cards and buying from Big W which came to the same price as OW price match.

Luckily they came through within 7 minutes or else I'd have been stuck with $466 of cards I wouldn't have really used!

    • Yes, $466 now at Officeworks

  • Got them to price beat TobyDeals who have it listed for $459 with free shipping - no questions asked. Staff member was aware and happy to do the discount.

Final price paid: $436.05 - Nerang store on the Gold Coast. TobyDeals link price beat from: https://bit.ly/35Tbyf1

    • Just went to OW in Russell St and staff there said that they do not price beat TobyDeals

    • May I know which officeworks you went to that price match with tobydeals?

  • Open for suggestion:

Buy woolies giftcard for 5% off and use to buy it at big W, brings down the same price as OW price beat, BUT you get reward points.

It would be good for those who have the extra points for shopping etc. Save for christmas bank.

    Good suggestion?

    • I went the JB-HIFI route instead as I wanted to bundle with the Smart keyboard, cost was:
      SMART KEYBOARD $223
      iPad 32gb $466
      = $689
      - 5% JB HIFI gift card
      = $654.55

Not as cheap as the iPad only price beat at OW above, but was pretty easy to get.

  • Unfortunately just expired. I managed to get one at $467 yesterday together with 10% off GC, with TRS later this month the true cost of the iPad will be close to the Mediaform pricing the other day!

  • How come the BigW deal for $454 didnt get as popular as this OW deal for $467?
Do ozbargainers prefer Officeworks more than BigW for some reason?
