    2x Bacon Deluxe went up again… :(

    • +7

2 Hunger Tamer Meals costs less in-app! $19.95 vs 20.45 pdf

Also the new Family Burger Meal $24.95 pdf has no drinks WTF?

And noticed my Maccas have recently increased price on the Value Dinner Box from ~19.95 to 22.95 that ain't VALUE anymore!

      WTF is going on!?

      • @fast and curious
Do you know if maccas increase price of the favorites box aswell?

        • No I drove-thru the Value Box 2 days ago. But I assume they would've (why wouldn't they?) Let me know too if you get before me.

          • @capslock janitor: [Associated with Maccas]

Value box is currently $24.95, while the favourites box being $29.95.

            • @Snacky: Have noticed there's $1-2 difference between menus/stores. I'm not associate btw. Fact we know they raised the prices by $3-4!!

            • @Snacky: Thanks

            • @Snacky: Update - Looks like HJ HT deal is now $20.45 too!
On the day I processed thru app went as 19.95, not any more…

    • There goes breakfast.

      • havnt been hj in a while, can you still get burgers 24/7?

    • +1

I just bought 2x bacon deluxe and 2x small whopper meal, both went through at the old prices :)

      • Huh, I might try today and see if it still is at my local. 2x bacon deluxe sans buns was my go to for something keto friendly-ish after work!

    • +1

If you go through the drive-through and just quote "2x avocado BLT wraps using the voucher", you get last month's prices:

      10.95 instead of 11:45.

Save a little bit more. Those wraps are GOOD and a slight bit healthier, particularly if you get grilled chicken.

  • +28

Wow so many price hike within short time

    • +2

I would like to see some sort of comparisons throughout the years. Unfortunately the links don’t work for the old deals

      • +42

        2x Whopper Junior & 2 Small Chips $6.95 > $7.25

Chicken Royal Small Chips & Small Drinks

        The price between $.50 to $1 :[

        • +7

Yep and compare that to 1 year ago. Dramatic difference

          • +34

            @Rimzi: Hungry Price Jacks.
The prices are jacked at Hungry Jacks!

        • Man, I just chucked out all my old vouchers from my car, I should have looked to see what thew prices were. could have sworn this is the 2nd time this year it's gone up?

        • +2

Rent goes up by CPI every year and so does wages like clock work. This isn't off a low base. Only a matter of time before the country is unlivable.

          • @netjock: Cost of living increases (including housing) frighten me; extrapolate 20 years into the future (assune I haven't kicked the bucket by then) and I will be a miserable pauper suoorounded by cashed up people who were able to invest in houses.

            • @Thaal Sinestro: buy a house buy many houses you can be rich too.

            • +1

@Thaal Sinestro: House rich and cash poor, still crap. You also can't get off the housing ladder because you can't get back on after. Problem is people go and buy goods (money go offshore) rather than services which kills the economy.

        • Yikes.

        • July 2018 2x Whopper Junior & 2 Small Chips were 5.45 now 7.25

      • +1

2 Small whopper meals used to be under $10 a year ago

      • +6

This is by no means a thorough timeline, but here's a bunch I was able to put together. (Mostly had them on my phone.)
        https://imgur.com/a/x1I8qqN

        2x Bacon Deluxe:
        2016-08: $6.95
        2018-02: $6.95
        2018-05: $7.45
        2018-10: $7.95
        2018-12: $8.25
        2019-11: $8.95
        2020-01: $9.45

        • Ahhh… the Chicken Crunch, that was great.

    • +1

They're starting to feel responsible for growing overweight / obesity rates..

    • Thanks for the comparison. Seeing such a huge hike in price in just over a month is sickening.

Now they're just being plain rude.

  • +22

Omg why hj so expensive now? Use to be the cheap go to compared to maccas

    • +1

      they make no money lol

      • +8

Must be hard when they can't get WftD "participants" to work for free or next to nothing under the guise of internship.

      • When maccas have promotion (not coupon)

sometimes you can get two small mc feast meal for $10 but hj have 2 small whopper meal with coupon is $13.95

Even more when maccas has coupon i.e on app you can get 2 small quarter pounder meal for $8

So i dont think its "no money"

    • They can't rip off work for the dole participants anymore.

      https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-24/hungry-jacks-advertis…

      • Stopped going to HJs after reading that, and a few more stores when I found out they use taxpayer subsidized labor. I thought we abolished slavery. Guess it is still alive if you have the power.

    • +18

trump has caused HJ prices to go up???????………………..

      c'mon son

      • Everyone knows he eats Maccas. So HJ is not as popular. See I can blame it all one Trump. You can too. It's not hard. ;-)

    • -5

      Ok Boomer

    • -2

I wish Hillary had made it, wouldn't the world be so much better today?? Sigh..

Trump loves trolling you, remember that.

  • +21

Two junior whopper deal used to be $4.95 in late-2017 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342206

    • +8

In 1910 it was only tuppence a bag

    • +1

When I was a younger man you would ride around on your bike through most of summer having $2 whoppers:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58964

McDonald's use to be out of my price range so I'd only have the cones once in a while. Now I stand outside Hungry Jack's eating my $1 hamburgers as I watch the HJ millionaires sing about their precious moments.

  • +6

Hungry Jack want more money so Jack going to Jack up the price again..

At this point there almost no difference between HJ and Maccas

    • +4

Maybe because they lost so much money due to costing error in US.

    • +3

      Maccas is cheaper than HJ

    • +3

      Maccas: $5 Small McFeast deal.
      HJs: $4.50 Small Cheeseburger deal

Yeah I know what I'd rather. I know the deal is now a double beef and bacon or whatever, but it's still better than this.

I excluded the 30 days 30 deals, but there were good promos there too.

      • Mcfeast deal is gone :(

        • As I said, it's now like double beef and bacon at Maccas (aka grease bomb) but it's still better than just a cheeseburger.

      • +1

It's forbidden to talk bad about bacon deluxe.

  • +4

    well, Jack has returned…

    • +4

      now I'm Hungry

      • Money Hungry Jacks

Phone is not OK due to the poor quality

    • -7

You upload a better photo then….

    • -3

Phone is defiently not OK, but it is fine

      • +7

        Definitely or defiantly?

        • Phone is differentially not OK, but it is fine

    • +2

More like phone is not ok due to the poor quality of the deal!

  • +11

No point anymore, stick to the shake and win whopper or bacon deluxe, 2 small fries and a frozen drink as a cheap lunch option.

    • +1

My go-to has been the Cheesy Cheeseburger coupled with the free small chips & drink receipt voucher. Total: $2

    • +4

Agree, haven’t bought from HJ for a while due to their constant price hikes.. I still Check the app in case I get a free item but overall I dont see any value anymore compared to other more healthy non-home-cooked food options.

  • +50

The vouchers aren't better at Hungry Jacks.

  • +2

Ever increasing demand for Australian meat overseas has a direct impact on the local market, hence the perpetual price hikes in meat products.

    • +2

The vegan products have increase too though.

      • Agreed, they were already over priced in comparison. Unfair to jack them further.

  • Hello

    • +24

Frank walker here from national tiles

      • +3

Hahaha, I moved from Brisbane to rural nsw, and no longer hear those ads. Loved the reminder.

  • +12

    Increases are too much

  • +2

50c here 50c there makes jack a rich boy!

    • All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

  • +13

Is this a joke prices have gone up 60% or more 2 whopper Jr 2 small fries I was getting the $4.95 then they JUMPED to $5.25 now $7.25 your kidding right HJs.

    • +1

That was my Go to deal probably the best value. I was fine with the 30c increase but I havent been to HJ's in probably 6 months since it is expensive now.

    • +2

      Agree.

      Seeya HJs, its been fun.

    • Agree, one more customer here that gave them the boot.

    • -2

You, and all the other whiners here, have you actually done anything? If you feel so strongly about these apparent price increases have you actually written to Hungry Jacks, and complained to them directly?

If the price hike is as egregious as so many of you seem to feel it is, then a few thousand emails/letters from angry pitchfork-wielding consumers may actually have some effect.

In my experience many large businesses react fairly well when you take the time and effort to put your complaint in (polite) writing.

But whingeing on a bargain forum won't achieve anything. It is as specious and meaningless as offering your "thoughts and prayers" to unfortunate people involved in tragedy.

  • +4

Well like the rest, everything goes up in price and the product gets smaller. I wonder sometimes how they still call it a big mac. Should be just a mac….

    • Do you have some evidence HJs burgers have gotten smaller?

      • I didn't mention HJ's. However, in general across many years of eating considerable burgers from multiple sources I put myself forward as a generic evidential specimen for smaller burgers at mac's.

        • +2

          maybe you got bigger?

      • +2

The patties definitely have. They are thinner.

  • Way to put the 'jack' in Hungry Jack's!

I was fine with 10-20c increases but this is just taking the piss. I only go now if it's free or a stupidly good deal (on shake to win)! (Breakfast ham and cheese toastie come at me!)

    • +1

I once put the jack in a whopper.

Now I am no longer allowed to work there.

    • I think JV is needed here to put “Jack” in Hungry Jack in Bold.
He has copyright for that ain’t it ? :)

  • +4

    Increases aren't a deal.

    • -1

      It’s still a bargain.

      • +4

Is it though? I'd argue that the continual publishing of the voucher sheet prices over a very long rolling period of time for what are almost always the same items effectively becomes the normal price, and thus any increases are an increase to the normal price.

        • +4

So then people cease to post the voucher sheets, and then because they are no longer continually posted they then become deals again because they're cheaper than advertised price? Still cheaper than standard price and classify as deals at any time regardless of how frequent

          • -1

@ColstonAUS: So you believe in RRP then? And that every price less than the RRP is a deal?

            • +3

@Punkboy: i believe that comparing fast food chain RRP with each other will show you that they are about similar for prices of their menus. For example, a large whopper meal is about 12 dollars roughly, and a large big mac meal will be around the same, as well as a large zinger burger meal. (which one is better tasting or better quality is irrelevant and completely preference based). For hungry jacks to then release vouchers which are completely free, that give you extra added value, is absolutely a deal. Just because they decrease the amount of money you are saving doesn't mean you aren't saving money.

  • +5

Hungry jack indeed. Tell him he's dreaming.
