Guaranteed this will be sub $30 in a few months a below $20 in a year.

    • +9

So will the other games. What’s your point?

      • +1

I guess there is a small group of games (Nier, Ark, GTAV, etc) that rarely go on sale or hold onto their value for a few years. I don’t think this game is one of them.

        • +4

Can buy plenty of great PS4 exclusives for $20, to be fair. Especially the single player ones. I don't know how closely correlated value is to quality.

        • +2

You're forgetting every first party Nintendo game, also wtf Ark? That shit was $20 in early access

Nier Automata was $25 on Ozgameshop about a year ago. GTA V was <$20 just a few months ago on PS store.

I think he's alluding to the fact that it's a bad game.

    • Yeah, Spiderman was released a year ago, its 19 dollars now, and people thought it was the best shit ever. All games get reduced. Especially PS exclusives, because PS is getting all/most of the revenue. Games that get released on multiple platforms tend to stay at a higher price point later unless they completely bomb (like Anthem or something). This isn't that.

I myself got Spiderman last xmas at the same price DS is now, I remember Amazon had a sale on it. Does that mean Spiderman was bombing?

DS is doing ok still. It's not doing like 'amazing' but maybe that's because its not very replayable and pretty niche — it's not to everyone's taste, but its more like a interactive movie and that's the experience you're paying for. Plenty of people are enjoying it. I for one could tell immediately that was what it was going to be so I gave it a miss. My boyfriend on the other hand loves stuff like that so he was super into it. Not sure why people feel so let down and duped, but, it was obvious to me the game was going to be 'different' not necessarily 'better'. There are plenty of more mainstream linear games with shooty mcbooties to play instead.

Repetitive delivery tasks in the game are quite boring.

    • Couldn't agree more

    • +4

If you were finding them repetitive, you might not have been using the available infrastructure enough. I didn’t mind visiting the same locations multiple times because I was constantly making world traversal easier and faster, and I found that progress rewarding.

    "genre defining experience"

There aren't many games about delivering stuff. I'd argue Paperboy on C64 or Crazy Taxi were much better.

    • Mirrors Edge is probably one of the best delivery games made in recent years.

But Death Stranding is the first "Strand Type" game according to Kojima.

        And hopefully the last.
        Loved mirrors edge though

This looks like the most boring game. $20 early 2020

    • That has a ring to it. $20 2020

      • +1

        so does 15 2020

      • 20 for 20 in 2020 - a range of 20 PS4 exclusives available for $20 each. Make it happen, Sony.

Based on the comments, my impression of the game was just. Totally tedious and a chore. I went in with no expectations and was let down.

Legit a shame as was really looking forward to enjoying it.

    • You expected it to be enjoyable.

      The first comment lol:

Death stranding is basically how my parents and grandparents explain how they got to school.

Dunkey's review of this game is legit trash, he went in expecting Skyrim and was disappointed that it wasn't.

    • +1

I like Dunkey's reviews a lot but he rags on stuf that I don't agree with, like Octopath traveler—he decimated that and its actually really good. I feel like Dunkey doesn't like slow games, period, and gets exceedingly infuriated by them, to comedic results (probably overplayed for clicks etc). And DS is meant to be slow. It's totally meant to be a stop the smell the roses game in a society of me me me next quick fix, next distraction etc. From what I can tell, that's what Kojima was partly going for. So honestly, it doesn't mean much Dunkey hated it, it's not going to be to everyone's taste, especially if your tastes run more mainstream.

From someone who has played 'Death Stranding' and finished it. This game is a masterpiece! There is some tedium, but most games do have some form of repetitiveness. However, that is easily forgotten with the amazing graphics and movie like story line.
