I was after a new pod coffee machine to replace my old Aldi one.

This one is the best on the market with RRP of $1199 and regular price of $999 at the big suppliers (Myer, David Jones, GG) I think $231.8 off that price is a pretty good deal (almost 25%).

Use click and collect and save $38 in postage.

Only Hoppers Crossing had stock left.

Coffee Credit of $50 essentially bringing cost down to $717.20

  • Wasn't this only $519 in a deal a week ago?

I've owned one of these previously, and even I think this is way too much..no way anyone pays 1k for this…
It's been much much cheaper than this.

Different model, 800BSS vs 900BSS. No idea on the difference. I've got the 800 and it's by far the best pod machine I've used (had a few between myself and inlaws). Not sure I could justify the price tag of the 900 though.

        my bad then
I had the 800bss before, and agree…great machine
but no idea how much more magical a 900bss has to be
The milk frother on the 800 is its main selling point (as the rest of the pod dispensing is the same as much cheaper machines)

curiosity got the better of me.. 900 can froth and dispense coffee at the same time.. so quicker turn around
not sure thats worth the extra $ for same end drink

Why would anyone spend this much on a Pod machine?

    • +6

Because they have questionable decision making skills

      • Because I CBF cleaning and using ground coffee :)

Not saying you should buy a full manual/auto machine, just buy a cheaper nespresso machine

but, but, but…it has a PRO in the name

    • how much is a full automatic machine? just curious

I spoke to Nespresso at Myer. This is the new model just got released.

It’s the PRO not the PLUS so it’s not $519 as many are posting. Trust me I got really confused as well.

Difference is you can make a coffee and froth milk at the same time. Convenience. Something about making 2 coffees with milk in 60 seconds. It has a thermometer at the bottom of the milk frothing mug and heats milk to exact temp. The coffee maker part heats up in 3 seconds. Not sure what’s different with the plus.

Is it worth $200 more than the Plus model I’m unsure but I bought one for my new house. I feel like it’s a heck of a deal.

    Edit:

Plus I think pods are exceptional quality rather than finding the beans, then the right level of grind size, then making sure the hopper is clean, then cleaning the hopper after, then making sure it extracts for the right time (30 seconds I hear is correct), then making sure not to heat the milk too much. To get quality coffee you can spend $1000 to $2000 on just a grinder for home, some people I know do go to this length. So I’d rather drop the complexity have amazing quality coffee without having to become a barista
